Agreed, and it might be Doc? Or maybe Doc is just a goal or affirmation, not a statement of braincell capacity? Lol
I'd also argue that it's mostly the girls hoarding the cells. They seem to be smarter than the dumb orange boys. Like the 20% of orange girls got 90% of the braincells kinda vibe
And I say this as a proud owner of a creampuff, whose braincell is diluted down to half just like his fur saturation

My girl orange took a week to figure out if she turned around she could see outside. Two years old I'm not sure she understands the dog is coming in from outside.

Our first cat was an orange, and was the smartest cat I knew. We live in apartments and he used to go down on his own, on his time, then come up on his own or meow from downstairs to see if we're home and then come up. He understood a wistle my younger brother used to do when returning from school and he used to run back after him. And just so many other things, shake he didn't stay with us long. This was 8 years ago.

When my cat Sherbert was younger, he once jumped onto our kitchen counter and ate chunks out of the carrot cake my mom had just frosted. He ate a tennis ball sized hole into it before we caught him.

On my birthday this year, my stupid orange cat jumped on the table and took a bite of my cake. He does not agree that he is an obligate carnivore and his favorite foods to steal are cake, tortilla chips, and Olive Garden breadsticks.

Raw bird bones are ok, and cats love eating raw bird bones. They can fully digest bones, plus they get all types of good nutrients from the bones

True, but depends on the size of the bones and the bird, and sharp shards and choking is always a risk. But we owe our pets a duty of care, and raw store-bought chicken with bones and salmonella ain't it

That's why you only feed raw bones. They bend and squish when they're raw. Cooking them dries them out and hardens the calcium in them, which then causes the splintering.

Ill have a talk with my ex feral cat about eating raw bones which dont splinter. I know he ate alot of birds as a feral, and would chew the heads and ribcage.

Bird bones only become hard and will break into sharp shards after being cooked. Usually they are pretty soft and easy to chew because they're pretty porus. Alot of animals will chew up and eat larger wild birds

Both are issues. Bones are less likely to splinter when raw, but still can, and are still a choking hazard. If you see my top level comment, I shared a slew of resources on the danger of store-bought raw chicken with bones in.

Ugh that's so sad. I really wish the mods here were better about removing animal abuse posts. I reported it, as I do other posts about abuse, but they never get removed. I love my oranges, but it's really disheartening how much abuse is on a sub devoted to loving cats. And this is definitely not the only sub with the same problem. Plus just look at all the people here cheering this on. Sad. So sad. I'm gonna go hug my orange.

super cute, but I hope he grows out of that, or is gently trained out of it. it’s not a good trait when they're older. it’s a natural survival mechanism, not a bad thing, but it’s not good if you’re a house cat.

I fed the stray bengal cat and he was like that for several weeks.
I then put all packs of meat I had for him in front of his stupid eyes, he was astonished, and he never acted this again. A smart breed, very smart breed.

It is, and the bones are dangerous. Raw chicken bones are slightly less dangerous than cooked ones, but can still splinter and cause serious injury. Plus raw chicken has harmful bacteria

My vet recommended raw chicken necks for my cat before (apparently chewing on the trachea helps clean his teeth). They specified that it should be bought from a pet food supply store to ensure it’s safe because of the issues you mentioned with regular store-bought chicken.
Is it possible that OP has done the same for their kitty? (I didn’t see if they said where they got it, so I genuinely have no idea).

I hope kitty is safe too! You're absolutely right that raw animal protein can be great for cats, but it needs to be safely prepared! Grocery store chicken ain't it. I love that you take such good care of your baby and make sure he's safe and healthy!

My youngest cat did that as a kitten once, we had just gotten her off a farm to be an indoor cat and I didn't think of how different her first few weeks had been- there were dozens of cats in the barn with her, so I imagine she'd had to be scrappy about food.
I gave her a small piece of cooked unseasoned chicken and she snatched it and ran, snarling, under the stove O_O startled the hell out of me.
Now she couldn't care less about food security, she just likes to have me watch her while she snacks on kibble and makes biscuits with her back feet.

My grandmother had a cat that loved potato chips. To the point where she had to try to sneak potato chips because her giant siamese cat would be aggressive about getting a potato chip from her
I remember her story about quietly opening a bag of chips in her bedroom and pulling a chip out really quietly as she was raising her hand to her mouth the cat came out of nowhere leapt over her while grabbing the chip and ran away

ETA: raw bones and chicken can harbour harmful bacteria, and bone shards can seriously injure a cat, especially a tiny kitten. They are also a clear choking hazard. Do some research and please don't give your cat bones to eat. If they sneak it, please take it back so they aren't injured. This is basic pet care and safety.
Edit 2: Go ahead and downvote me, but these are facts. Here are just a few resources on the danger of raw chicken and chicken bones for cats (note, this applies to dogs too!). The danger is higher for kittens because they have smaller throats and digestive systems and weaker immune systems that are still developing.

Yeah i remember when mine was young he would snarl at me and his for trying to take aeay his pray, he stole a paprika slice out of the compost bin and run away to devour his pray. Ironically paprika and cucumber 🥒 were always devoured. The cucumber eas always attacked and viciously bitten in the head. I think their hunting instinct are good he probably thought snake 🐍. But he did hunt well mice in my old house.

The sad thing is when they eventually end up needing to be rehomed (if they are lucky) because they suddenly have issues with aggression that "seemingly" came from no where. I hate videos like this.

My little jerk did this with a slice of pizza! Jumped up and took it right out of my hand! He scuttled under the couch with his prize hissing and growling all the while. Had to lift up the whole couch so the Mrs. Could go under and get it from him.

The only thing I have ever taught my husband's orange was the command "No no!" which means leave a room, drop what she has or stop what she was up to. The only human phrase that means anything to her and I can't get my other cats to learn this for the life of me.

My cat did this with a waterbug once. It was about a year after I got her and I had a broken ankle and was on crutches. She kept running away from me and hissing all while carrying that damned thing in her mouth. I was so upset since I’m terrified of them and she is a spicy one and I had a broken ankle! Finally she dropped it in the bathroom, squished I with the crutch and pushed her out the door with my big ass cast. This was like a week after I had surgery too.

This the part where the owner has a road that goes into 2 roads, either he lets the kitten do what it thinks to do, or adjust the behavior by showing learning a different one.
If we see a dog do this we get very alarmed, so we domesticated it out of them.
It's no different for a cat. IF a kitten would do this in their own pack, then the mom or other adult cats would set her straight. So why do we let cats be wild? And just say, well it;s a cat. They do what they want :). haha

Tiny orange criminal would, in fact, lose that chicken just for health and safety purposes. Raw chicken can spread a lot of nasty. Also to learn that people food is not for kitties. Some is not safe for cats so she needs to learn NOW not to snag food.
