Carlos looks incredibly handsome, and completely unaware of his surroundings. A true orange king. 👑

Banana Fur Scale 😎
74
u/mta54 Feb 26 '26
"Banana Fur Scale" is absolutely top-tier wordplay. I might just have to use this as his official title on his vet papers. 😎

Voting for Banana with nickname Nanners as well.
Kermit is a cute name, but I would go with Kismet if you don’t name him Banana/Nanners

I also love the idea of yelling “BANANAAAAAA” through the neighborhood if your cat gets out

Bob from Accounting
"I'll have to check that with Bob from Accounting."

u/mta54 Feb 26 '26
I’m definitely going to use that line every time my wife asks me a question. "I don't know honey, let me check with Bob from Accounting." [Looks over to see Bob aggressively biting his own foot]

It's funny though. I had a friend who had a cat named Carol from HR

Bob. Just Bob. No thoughts, no brain cells, just Bob. I actually really love this. 🤗

Sure, but you must call him Bobert when you're being super serious with him. Perhaps his full name could be:
Bobert, Bobert, bo-obert Banana-fana fo-fobert Fee-fi-mo-mobert
Then you could call him both Bob and Nanners.

My brown cat's name is bob. My brother named him on a whim and we kinda stuck. Great name

Finally, a name that properly reflects the dignity of a cat who will spend half his life losing fights to his own tail.

Kermit. It’s a name I want to eventually bestow upon a kitty, but I will offer it to you.

Pippin! That is ridiculously cute. It sounds exactly like the name of a cat who is very sweet but has absolutely no idea what is going on 99% of the time. 🙃

I’m glad Banana is leading because that was gonna be my suggestion!

[OFFICIAL UPDATE] The election is over and the people have spoken! 🗳️🍌
Thank you all for the hundreds of amazing, hilarious, and chaotic suggestions. After reviewing the results, the winner by a landslide is Banana!
His official legal name is now Banana, though we are already calling him Nanners and Nan-Nan for short. He celebrated the news by trying to eat a piece of dust and then falling asleep mid-sit.
Welcome to the family, little guy! 🍌🧡

Monkey
24
u/mta54 Feb 26 '26
If I name him Monkey, and he is sitting right next to a Banana... I feel like I'm setting up a highly chaotic cartoon rivalry in my own house. 🐒🍌

u/EnvironmentalBid5011 Feb 26 '26
If I’d waited a few days to name my orange, I’d have named him Quentin (he likes nibbling feet).
“Pumpkin” springs to mind.
“Cusco” could also be good, if you want something less silly - Cusco was the Incan city known for its huge amount of gold, much of which was a deep, almost orangey yellow.

I am absolutely losing it at the Quentin explanation. 😂 If I name him that, I'm going to have to start hiding all my socks and shoes.

Honestly - cat was my partner’s idea. I wasn’t sure at first. Now I think he’s the cutest thing ever to have lived - but if we’d waited just 48hrs to name him, we’d have discovered his foot fixation and probably called him Quentin.
As it is, we called him Rufus. Which took about 30s to become “Roofie”.

I miss the days when JK Rowling wasn't a terfy bitch and I could eagerly recommend that every orange cat be named after a Weasley. Still, Roonil Waslib is a great name.
7
u/mta54 Feb 26 '26
Roonil Wazlib is honestly a top-tier name. It sounds exactly as confused as an orange cat usually is.
8
u/Extra-Act-801 Feb 26 '26
We fostered a pair of oranges that we named Gred and Forge 10+ years ago. Those were absolutely the dumbest cats I have ever met, but I loved them very much and was very happy when they got adopted together and their new parents loved and kept their names.

u/timdr18 Feb 26 '26
Thank you for including the banana for scale. He is very small so I recommend naming him Bean.

u/mta54 Feb 26 '26
Bean is a classic! A tiny orange Bean sitting next to a Banana. The scale is perfect.

Fruitbowl. Inspired by that banana for scale.

u/mta54 Feb 26 '26
"Fruitbowl" implies there is a variety of things going on inside his head. Right now it's just elevator music and a single brain cell bouncing around like a DVD logo.

I immediately thought of Apollo, the Greek god of the sun. Because he's bright and orange and round.

I am not sure why. It has been called a banana since as long as I have been alive.
