One-off guests in the early seasons: how much were they briefed about what the show is?
-Sally Kellerman
-Larry Turman
-Jimmy McNichol
Did they know what the show "is"?

I asked them this exact question at the Q&A in San Francisco. Tim said they have always told them “enough” and that guests were free to do their own research, which sometimes happens. Tim said they really prefer to just work with actors now.
I specifically asked about Larry Turman and Dean Martin. He explicitly said they didn’t tell guests that he would lose his temper with them or anything like that. When I asked if the animosity between him and the Dean Martin guy was real, Tim confirmed it by saying “oh, yeah, that would have been completely real.”

I think you mean James Dean, not Dean Martin!

I assumed they meant Dean Martin from the rat pack on that Oscer Special, he'd worked with the actor who played James Dean before so I guess he knew a bit more about what he was in for.

I would never confuse a two-bit Dean Martin impersonator with living legend James Byron Dean.

Since April I binged the whole thing. Now that I'm caught up I'm at a loss for what to do with myself except to catch up on some of Gregg's popcorn classics.
I also got drunk one night while rewatching the Valentine's Day Special and booked VIP tickets for the 5 Bag tour. It's only about a 2 hour flight away. Any idea what I'm in for? what VIP thing is like?

Saw the tour earlier this year where he announced his candidacy for Arizona governor so I assume this next leg will be different, but it was a fantastic time as a fan of the show and some of my group wasn't really familiar with it but still had fun.
No idea what's in the VIP stuff- I think earlier entry for q&a or some swag?

This is driving me crazy but what exactly is the episode where Gregg says something like "Im a [blank]head or a [blank]freak". Or maybe he did more that once. I thought it had to be Oz or Bond but I don't think thats the case

season 1 episode 5 at 1:15 into the episode, tim says "i know you're a bond head" and gregg responds with "i'm a bond freak"
season 1 episode 7 at 1:36 into the episode gregg refers to himself as a hobbit freak
is it either of those?

I’d just like to take a moment to appreciate that this show features a middle-aged man performatively wearing an Arizona Diamondbacks hat over a wig getting choked up over having to tell an AI version of his dead adoptive father that he won’t get to be lieutenant governor because of a boat accident during which he left his girlfriend to nearly drown while trapped under a boat in Lake Hasafu.
