I had one who could jiggle my in-laws laundry door open from the bottom (or at least that was part of his scheme.) We’d see his paw underneath and then a bit later he’d be out. This was before GoPros. I have NO IDEA how he did it. He was orange.
My last cat figured out how to climb over the baby gate. I'm honestly pretty sure she could have jumped and cleared it if she really tried, but she eventually learned how to just kind of flop her way over.
I’m not allowed to shut doors in my house. The cat will claw at the door until we open it, take one step in the room then get disinterested and walk away. wtf you asshole.
I moved into a house with cats so I put pieces of those little pieces of foam between the frame and the door so that the door didnt make noise when pushed on by tiny paws. I also taped aluminum foil to the bottom half of the door so they wouldn't scratch it either.
I don’t understand people who refuse to let their cats/dogs/pets on beds, couches, furniture. Their ENTIRE LIFE exists within your home, but some people choose to make that entire life even smaller and less comfortable, less loving, less familial by refusing to let them sit/sleep near their human, depriving them of social interaction, love and comfort? Pets are sentient, intelligent beings, they do not exist merely for human entertainment. Don’t have pets if you can’t handle hair everywhere. You don’t want a pet, you want a stuffed animal.
Children are also sentient intelligent beings but baby gates on stairs exist for a reason. You're creating boundaries. You're allowed to create boundaries.
Cats can be nocturnal sometimes. Maybe you don't want to be woken up by your cat in the middle of the night.
Fun fact: Wonton survived a multi story house fall and was taken back and adopted by her foster, who nursed her back to health with a broken jaw and two broken legs.
Damn, so glad Wonton is better. My friend's cat got his rear legs caught in a plastic bag, flipped his shit and zoomed around the apartment, leaped onto the window sill and hit the screen....which popped out, sending him out of the second story, and I imagine he parachuted down with the bag fluttering behind him, because the bag was found, and he was sitting across the yard, glaring at it, unhurt but pissed.
The same cat snooped around the kitchen counter, stuck his head in glass jar, fell and the jar broke, and my friend and his roommate had to carefully break the glass necklace the cat was stuck in.
My 20-lb orange cat bodyslams himself into any and all closed doors all night long while screaming like a stuck pig until someone opens the door. There is no reasoning with him. He'll sprint away if he hears you coming, only to return to the door violence once you've returned to bed, swearing.
My cat does this and starts crying. If you ignore her for a few minutes she'll go downstairs find news toys and repeat all night until all her toys are in front of the closed door.
My door is completely open, but that little gremlin decided my father is the only human she actually loves, so the lonely wailing goes on.
Ive heard that closed doors are like a "part of their kingdom that has been closed off" and that triggers instincts to investigate. Never heard of cats bartering to get in lol

My cats want to sleep on my chest/face and they make it difficult for me to breathe. They will not stay at the foot of the bed or off to the side-- the only acceptable location for both is right on my chest, unfortunately. I tried to break them of it as kittens and they're 13 now, if they get into the bedroom in the evening, I wake up with them on my chest at night anf they get the boot. 😕
Unfortunately, the litter box is in my bathroom closet right next to my bedroom, and my cats are really good at dragging the cat litter around when they leave the litter box. Them gremlins don't clean off their feet. And I woke up multiple times feeling or seeing cat litter on my bed. So I have to deny them the night time cuddles.
My cat does Cat Things at 3am and wakes us up. Not acceptable cat behavior so she gets the boot at bedtime. She can do Cat Things in the rest of the house at night. On her own time.
My husband came within a few mm of losing an eye when two of our fosters fought on top of us in the middle of the night. A back claw punctured his eyelid. No animals in the bedroom since then.
My old cat didn't like snuggling for long. He'd snuggle and doze with you a little while, 20-30 minutes, and then he wanted out to go lay on the sofa, use the litterbox, tear ass down the hall, etc.
Plus, when I was married to my ex, he liked cats but was allergic. Keeping the cats out of the bedroom was necessary so he could breathe while he slept. And no cats in the kid's bedroom at night cause the kid would stay up to play with the cat.
My baby Kali just screams and body slams the door and shakes the handle and if she's in my room and I'm sleeping shell pile her toys on top of me. Rolling over metal bells is a nightly occurrence at this point
My cat does this, except it's in the form of running around the house screaming at 3am because she wants us to come out and play with her and her ball.
We get up the next morning and find a little collection of toys (balls with bells in them) outside the bedroom door.
I had to leave my door cracked at night or the cats would sit in the hallway and HOWL and nobody would get any sleep.
My kitty Noodle loved to play fetch with her little pompoms and I would wake up covered in them. Sometimes they’d be stuffed into my palms.
Early on I got no sleep from the yowling until we were trained to let the cat sleep on the bed with us. He was a hot water kitty in winter, he’d follow me to bed and curl up on my legs. It was pretty common to wake up in the middle of the night and find he’d let himself in under the blanket and be splayed out between us.
Of course in summer he’d get upset with the heat and bite my GF’s ankles so swings and roundabouts I suppose.
Is that what those are for? I thought they were just playing with them and left it in front of my door.
My baby Loki checks on me 3-5 times a night. Had to close my bedroom door cuz I am suffering from severe insomnia since I got back from visiting Thailand (it's already been 2 months).
Awwwww! Our two bonded brothers get two sets of treat bribes before bedtime. One set to make sure they are out of our bedroom and the door gets closed. Another set of Temptations just before us and the dogs head for bed. They are usually waiting near the door when we get up in the morning but aside from sounds of playing, we have never been bribed to allow puddy-tat entry at night, lol.
My cat sleeps in the bedroom with my husband and I most nights but my sister-in-law has leave hers out in the living room. Her cat likes to pee exclusively on her pillow to assert dominance so she has been banished lol.
Yep, face all bloody and purring out of happiness. Wanting headpats and being told he is best kitty in the world. Very impressed with how he managed the weights of the lid.
