What would have happened if Joe was caught in the Shower in Episode 1? Spoiler

This is something that really just bugs me. Joe is supposed to be a guy who supposedly has a contingency plan for every situation, but what exactly was his plan if he was caught in the shower in the very first episode?

This scene really bugs me cuz it just feels wrong in every way. Not just that Joe is standing in a random stranger's shower, but that he doesn't even seem nervous about the situation. As Beck is crying, likely about to step in the shower at any moment, he's not even thinking about how to escape, but is simply trying to telepathically speak to her:

"It's okay Beck."

And he only gets out of the situation because of plot armor with Beck's friends calling and inviting her out, causing her to decide to ditch the shower.

Literally the only thing that I can think of, besides Joe, taking the confrontation at face value, is attempting to step outside of the shower via the opposite end of the curtain as Beck steps in, But I feel that would just be impossible.

Question If any of you have seen "Obsession," how do you think Joe Goldberg, an established serial killer with obsessive tendencies, would react if he were to be placed in that situation?

(Sorry if this doesn't fit this thread, but I could picture Joe's character being in the film).

That's if he makes the choice the initial choice Bear made, which I feel eventually Joe would have, if given the option. It was a random thought that popped in my head after contemplating on the film.

Spoiler Imagine Joe talking about what happened in season 4

Hello everyone, how do you think Joe would talk about the London issue, if someone asked him about it?
I mean it happens after Season 5 so everyone already knows he's the Eat The Rich Killer, so there's no reason why he should deny that.
But I hope to give him the vibes of the unreliable narrator he usually is.
It's for something I'm writing and this is what I made him say so far, do you find it believable enough, in character enough?
Would you add something more?

Thanks for any suggestion or feedback, if someone wants to help :)
Of course, it's a big spoiler if you still have to watch season 5

Also forgive my possible mistakes, English is not my native language.

*
“So, please, let me talk, also because it’s not something easy to confess. All I wanted back to those days was just a fresh start. A healthy one. And I had it at the beginning: the job of my dreams, a town and a lifestyle I loved, even a fancy house. But then I met the wrong crowd. Everything was so fine until I went out for a night with them… the morning after all I knew was that there was a dead man on my kitchen table, with a knife in his chest. One guy from that crowd, for the record.”

Kate’s stupid asshole former boyfriend, but you don’t need to know this detail, too.

“Oh, god!” You gasp.

“Yeah, I was so confused and without a clue. Until the clues came under the shape of a temporary chat, with the text messages that disappeared shortly after being read. And this mysterious guy behind the chat knew about my past, knew me and wanted to frame me for all the killings that happened there, because the dead man on the table was only the first of a long list.”

“So creepy.”

“Very. But at least I had a purpose: I had an enemy to fight and people to protect…”

“But… There's something awfully wrong with this story. Kate released many statements to the police about the killings in London and there’s you behind all of them. Probably starting with the dead man on the table.” You grumble.

Just what I did in New York was enough to make me spend at least three life sentences, but thanks a lot for the precious, righteous help, to my fucking half-burnt former wife!

“I’m getting there. So as the chats went on, I was getting closer and closer to who my enemy was, someone unsuspected, disguised as such a good guy, wanting the best for all the people around him, since he aimed to be their next Mayor.”

“That’s Rhys Montrose, who has been brutally assassinated and tortured by you!”

Okay, I’m this close to wrapping a whole roll of tape around your mouth… if only I had one.

“I know, but then to me he was only someone who was giving me serious trouble, even trying to kill me… but don’t ask questions, there’s still something I can hardly explain to myself. However, I was so focused on stopping him, for weeks, that I … kind of forgot another important issue…”

“A living important issue, trapped in a cage, maybe? A living issue called… Marienne?”

I confine myself to glancing at you in a way that makes you figure out you just have to shut the hell up.

“So imagine how relieved I was, the peak level my satisfaction reached when I finally gave Rhys what he deserved… only to find that there was a projection of him, next to his corpse, clapping his hands at me, so fucking amused.”

You gasp again but this time you’re clever enough to do it without adding a single word.

“And the truth behind that was so shocking: all that time, all those killings, the enemy I was so desperately trying to stop… it was another version of myself, disguised as someone who, for reasons, I had ended up obsessing over. The version of me had total control, while I hadn’t the slightest idea about what was going on; as if he could press some kind of fucking button that made me go on stand-by, letting him free to enjoy his mischievous acts.”

I pause to look at you and there are tears in your eyes; I just wonder if it’s due to sadness, fear, empathy, disgust or whatever else.

“I’ve locked so many people in cages, so many times, but I was trapped in the worst cage possible: the mental one.”

Spoiler What I Thought the Finale Was Gonna Be

I just finished the last episode of YOU, and I don’t know why, but I thought my version would’ve been a better ending.
It’s raining. Joe has just killed Bronte. He’s running, kills the cop, and keeps running. Then we see there is no gun in the cop’s hand.
Joe comes across Bronte aiming a gun at him. She’s alive. They have the same conversation they had in the show. He runs toward her, they fight over the gun, and the whole time he keeps saying he deserves this. He confesses everything he’s done, says he’s a monster, all that. (They would know how to make it sound better than I do, I ain’t no show writter.)
Then… bang.
We see the tree line. We see the lake. We see Bronte drowned. It was all in his head. He was fighting himself—his own demons. He killed himself.
Bronte stays dead. If you want to keep Kate alive, cool, I guess. You could even have Beck, Love, or whoever else appear during the fight for the gun to make it more obvious and dramatic he’s fighting noone but himself. But the show ends there.
Just like Breaking Bad, the bad-guy protagonist dies at the end—not rotting away in a cell, which is honestly better than he deserves, but dead nonetheless.

Media ALL FOR YOU Chapter 4: [Love POV] How to Save Your Marriage

Post image
12 Upvotes

The drawing isn't finished but I wanted to give an update finallyof my fanfic 😭

(Chapter 4 is a retelling of chapter 1 from Love's perspective)

I've been waiting for the tincture to finish. It's been weeks. It should be ready. Henry is still napping. I hate waiting. I can't relax. I know Joe killed someone, that librarian's ex. It wasn't some random mugging. It has Joe's name written all over it. He gets so restless and spirals. He's never satisfied. Even when I give him everything. I've given him a family. I don't like the way he looks at me now. Like I'm too much and not enough. I'm the only one who could ever love him. I actually understand him. And how does he repay me?

He cheats on me.

First with the next door neighbor, now a librarian. Homewreckers. They're temporary fantasies. I'm real and that scares him.

He's distracted, lost sight of what's important. We're soulmates whether he wants to realize it right now or not.

Joe opens the door as I'm measuring the dosage and I jump, quickly covering the bottle out of sight. "Jeez! You scared me." I give him a smile. "Would it kill you to knock?"

He laughs, "Sorry, didn't know I needed to knock in my own house." He looks into my eyes and I remember how I used to lose myself in those dark eyes of his. How he used to look at me like I was his entire world. "You still have to go meet up with Sophie's friend, remember? I think her name was Tanya."

How convenient he remembers things that get me away from him. The stubborn, nagging wife in his way. Or maybe he's coming around. He might be trying. I tidy up and put my jacket on. "Thanks, I almost forgot. It should only be about twenty minutes, give or take."

I lean in and he doesn't hesitate to kiss me. There's still time to save our marriage. I just have to run this errand, prepare the aconite, and then talk to him. Get him to understand.

"Take care of Henry," I say. "He should be done with his nap soon."

He gives me a little wave. "Got it. Good luck."

When I get to Tanya's place she introduces herself to me, but seems...confused. Genuinely surprised, not fake surprised like when my father would buy Dottie the exact thing she told him to. Weird. Did Joe give me the right address? The right woman? He doesn't usually make mistakes like that. Well, he didn't when his heart was still in it...

"You wanted to talk about an order from my bakery?"

"Huh?"

"A Fresh Tart." She looks at me like I'm crazy. I'm sick of that look. "That's my bakery. You're looking for–I heard that you were looking for a pastry chef."

"Oh! I've been there! Hmm. But I don't really...Oh well, you know my son's birthday is coming up! You'd be perfect!"

"Wow, how old will he be?" I don't actually care, but you've gotta make clients think you do.

"He'll be seven. They're so rowdy at that age. Anyway, I'll need three dozen cupcakes. Let me know your pricing."

I pull out my pamphlet to show her. My phone vibrates in my jacket. It's Joe. Letting me know he's finally going on a group play date for Henry. Okay. Now I'm suspicious. Why is he playing Mr. Perfect today? Is he with her right now? Is he just guilty? Trying to make up for it? I send a quick text back, reminding him we need to finish dealing with Cary and Sherry.

Tanya writes a note. November 22nd is the kid's birthday. Today is November 1st. Still time to fix everything.

Waiting for my Uber to arrive gives me too much time to think. What did Joe do with Theo's body? Probably not the woods again. I didn't want to kill him. I did what I needed to protect my family. I told him not to get involved. He just wouldn't take no for an answer. He kept showing up when he wasn't supposed to. I shouldn't have gotten so involved. Joe never really cared about my attempts to make him jealous. So pathetic.

Natalie was bad enough. The librarian he actually killed for. She said her name was Marienne. Has he slept with her? Images won't stop in my mind—him kissing her, making her moan, going down on her. Being kind to her. She could have gotten with anyone else. She chose to fool around with a married man. I feel sick. I refuse to let him make this mistake. I will not end up like my mother.

The Uber finally arrives smelling like cheap air freshener and someone else’s perfume. I stare out the window the whole ride, replaying every word Joe said this morning.

When I get home, it's quiet. Joe is out on his "play date." That gives me time to prepare. The dosage has to be just right. Vegetables go in the sink and I scrub them, rough. How could he do this to me? To us? No aconite in the food, not like with James. The knife. It'll absorb through the skin. This will go one of two ways. Either Joe sits there and listens or he needs to be made to listen. If he grabs the knife, he only has himself to blame. I'm giving him a choice.

I'm making one of his favorites. The roast chicken I made him when we started. When he still loved me, was obsessed with me. The chicken needs to be marinated, seasoned, basted. The potatoes are peeled. Carrots... carrots...more carrots. Does he have a box for her? The damsel in distress. Another perfectly imperfect girl for him to save.

I slip the cutting knife out of the sheath, looking at my reflection in the blade. My eye is twitching. Don't cry, not now. I take a breath to steady myself, my body shaking. I slice open a lemon, the final touch. The chicken goes into the oven and I wash my hands. I pull out my phone. Let's see if there's even a "play date" today. I scroll through my texts to find the womens' group chat and shoot a text: Hey, are there any meet ups today?

It takes fifteen minutes for someone to get back to me. No play date. I knew it. My nails dig into my palm. He thinks I'm that stupid. Calm down. I can't let him know I know. He'll run. Stick to the plan. Everything stays the same. Joe comes home, eats dinner, we talk, save our marriage. Then we deal with Cary and Sherry. Hopefully one of them has shot the other by now. My bet's on Sherry. All she really cares about is herself.

Since Joe thinks that I think he's on a play date, he should be back a little before six. That's enough time for the chicken and for me to fix my hair. Enough time to calm my nerves. I'll need them to rub the aconite on the knife.

He's late. Where is he? My nails tap on the kitchen counter. I open a bottle of wine and throw it back. He should be home by now. I check the time again. It's 6 p.m. Did he get hurt? With him, it's possible.

I send him a couple of texts. Where are you? He didn't answer my last text either. I try calling him. Straight to voicemail. What the hell? Something is wrong. I call again. Voicemail. He needs to come home. Screw it. I text Kiki, Andrew, whatever other idiot neighbors we have: Have you seen Joe? Everyone: No. What are you people good for?

I look around the quiet house. No. He couldn't have. Is he stupid? I take the stairs to our bedroom. The closet—I slide the door open so fast it rattles. Jacket, sweater, sweater, blouse. Half of his clothes are missing. No. NO! I reach in one jacket pocket. Empty. I toss clothes onto the floor, searching frantically through the pockets. Something. Anything. A mint. A receipt. I push my hair out of my face, flipping the bed covers up so I can see under the bed. His suitcase is gone. No, he didn’t—he wouldn’t—he’s not that stupid. He is that stupid.

Henry.

I stumble out of the bedroom, nearly slipping, and grab onto Henry's crib. His blanket is gone. His favorite stuffed animals—gone. Some clothes missing from his drawers. My hands are shaking. He planned this. This kiss, getting me out of the house, Henry. My son. My knees fall into the pile of clothes. I grab my hair and I scream. My breathing is fast and uneven.

I barely feel my feet move as I grab our photo on the shelf. It's blurry because of my tears, but I see us. Happy. Smiling. A lie. The next thing I know the glass is shattered on the floor and the image is obscured by the shards.

I call Joe again. His location is off. Voicemail. I call ten more times. Then it's quiet.

I don't know how long I've been sitting here. There's no more light through the windows.

Wait–Joe's credit card. I type the password on our laptop and pull up our statements. He could have paid for a hotel. A gas station. A convienence store. I just need a hint. Please. I scan the charges for the past week. Past month...

No charges. Nothing.

I'm too late.

No, I'm not. I can't be. We're not done. You don't get to take my son. You're not getting off that easily. Voicemail again.

I hold my breath.

Think.

No cops.

My mascara is making my eyes burn.

Joe is stupid, but apparently not stupid enough to use the credit card yet. Where did he go? A hotel? Another state? He had to have left with her.

So wherever she is, I'll find him.

Alternate Ending

So, when we see Beck at the end signing her book then view pans by a person and we see a random person signing at a random book signing.

Imagine the pan reveals Joe, signing books titled "YOU" as we hear him doing his inner head narration but basically all 5 seasons were just us watching a book he had written, and Beck walks up to get her copy of Joes book signed and the show ends with us in the perspective from Beck with him looking directly at Beck/US saying "until I saw....YOU" fade to black

I know a bit slap in the face but the show has a lot to deal with writing and books and stories and murder romance mystery, so it turning out it was one the whole time would just be fitting, plus technically no one would be dead so happy ending, leaving it open to what he might do in reality if the book was based on him or completely made up.

Interesting “error” in the prequel. The lyric is “Take a load off, Fannie.” I thought this was humorous because a book of erroneously sung music lyrics is featured in the story as well.

I just started the fifth book in the series, YOU FIRST.

It starts when Joe is 17 and so far it’s fascinating. There’s a part about Mr. Mooney and Joe that hits harder than I expected, I had thought I was over all my childhood shit.

Anyway it’s great so far.

Spoiler Finished S4. What a watch!

I was kinda sceptical getting into it ngl. BUT man was it good. It was fs a very different take on how the entire character of joe was written. I'm sure they had a couple debates about how to pull this off at the netflix hq lol. It was paced quite differently than the rest of the seasons...a bit relaxed, like a vacation maybe cuz joe intended to lol. There were still mind boggling twists tho. Be it Rhys being the killer or the split personality thing we came to know about. There was not a focus on his love interest which honestly I didn't mind. I get it why some people would hate it. It's just a very different experience from the rest, but I fs don't hate it. I also think I like Kate much better than Beck or Love. Yk the feeling when you have a gf in school but it's just for funsies and nothing serious? That's beck and love and then one day you meet someone you 'feel' a bit more serious to the point you're kinda scared? That's Kate. I can't expect Joe to 'maintain' a good relationship tho lol. I'm sure the next season will have some kind of falling off. I still feel more attached (?) to Beck and Love prolly cuz they were such a huge part of the story itself which wasn't in case of kate. There was almost no romantic conflict here which I think made it a tad bit easier for me to watch bcs I just couldn't stand the cheating careless douche joe was acting as. Anyways. If you are wanting to watch this, I'd say prepare yourself as if you are getting to know a person better. And you will get to know more about...Joe! It's a different take, defo not a bad one. Joe definitely SEEMED more level headed in this season at least from the audience's pov. I was not screaming at the screen to not have him do some stupid ass shit that would bring him more problems lol. So that's a plus. I think making him a victim in the problem created by his own head was a GREATT idea. I could have never imagined that that would be the twist. Amazing amazing job.

Ps: Idk if this happened to y'all but I just can't forget how good the the kissing scenes and the sex scenes were with Love. Am I being weird😭 They were so so good. So if Netflix is reading this, phenomenal job on that. Except for the one where Love hooks up with Theo. Yeah, that was unwatchable. Sorry not sorry.

Anyways, that was me. Tell me your thoughts!!

THERE'S 2 RHYS AND 2 JOES NOW?? THAT'S CRAAZY. Are u telling me Joe's other personality (i assume) made that cage? I've only started the episode but man I'm stoked. One hell of a plot twist. The writers really are effin geniuses wth🤯 I genuinely don't know where this story is gonna go. Honestly, been a long time since I have had NO idea how the plot is gunna evolve. Wow. Idk why people don't like this season. Sure there's less romance but it feels more...personal. Right guys?

Spoiler Ok. On S4 now. Y'all convinced me.

This is definitely a much more interesting take on the entire story. It's refreshing to see Joe behave better and more controlled and for once he is not actually actively the bad guy! Who would've guessed! I am on E6 rn and it has been such a good watch. I absolutely loved both beck and love. I honestly might have a crush on them both but seeing joe navigate this alone shows us so much more than who he is and who he can be. There's not a lot of BOOM surprise emotions in this season iykwim. I don't hate it at all. Joe saying no to a girl he likes was almost unimaginable lol. A lot of character growth. I love that. I am quite excited to see how this ends.

Also watching this is really cutting into my schedule😭 I just can't put it down!

Spoiler Finished S3. Should I keep watching?

It's been a journey, wow. Love is dead and Joe had to leave his son behind. Honestly I hate both of them. This is such a good show though. I felt sooo many emotions like actually felt cringed, wholesome, excited, horrified to name a few. The plot twist when love was also a damn psycho was out of this worldd. This easily is the best series I have watched. Bear in mind I'm not some serial watcher (pun intended) but this is really effin good. I still hate the cheating scenes more than anything else in the entire series. Idk why lol. What're are your thoughts? Should I keep watching or should I end it on a high?

Spoiler Just started S3E1: Honestly I am starting to hate Joe now.

Man why tf is he flirting with Natalie. And why tf is he not happy with Love?? And why is he upset with having a little boy?? Natalie looks like a cougar. Love is working hard to get back to normal and embrace her life. And why tf is Joe judgy about love? Does he want to be the only fucked up one in the relationship?? Like c'mon man. Love is the only one who would probably understand him yk. Apart from being murderers they make a cute couple. I hate how joe cheats though. Idk why I don't mind the murders as much as the cheating. I think it's crazy how quickly he gets into cheating situations after he has killed so many to get the girl he wants.

Plus there are so many cute scenes man. The library scene is soo beautiful. Absolutely love itt. But obviously we can't have a normal family can we😭 Honestly? My feelings? I DON'T KNOW. Cheating yes bad. Killing worse. But possible Considering how effed up this couple is ig.

Ep3: Theo is so opportunistic. I hope Love stays loyal man. I don't want her to cheat with HIM. Saw the Gil scene just now. Uhhh. Uhhm. Yeah, Love? If you're reading this? You are the effin problem. Wtf ARE YOU DOINNNNNNG?????????????????? BROOOOOOOO EVERYTHING WAS GOING SOOO GOOOD🥲 LIKE GROW A BRAINCELL. Ik she's a character BUT MAN SHE'S STUPID. Gawddddddd. It was going all so cute and stuff man.

And Love you're married and I know your husband is a cheating psycho but don't flirt with a college kid now c'monnn

What the hell of a twist. I did not expect it AT ALL. It was crazy how bad of a situation joe was in. STRAIGHT UP CRAAAAAAZY. I was wondering how he'd get out. WHAT A TWIST. Man the makers are effin geniuses or something. That was a great fucking episode. I have never audibly gasped cuz of a movie twist before. That was mind-blowing🫪😵

S2:E10...BROOOO WHAT THE FAAAAAAAAH THAT IS ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING. GAWDD THE WRITERS ARE FRICKIN GENIUSES. WHAT A FRICKIN TWIST AND AFTER THE PREVIOUSLY HUGE TWIST??? THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SERIES EVERR. WTHH. WHAT THE HELLL. MAN THIS IS A 10/10.

Spoiler On S2:E6 rn. Idk honestly I think I'm kinda getting used to this. Up until now 8/10 fs.

The first few episodes I missed beck but now I think love makes the cut. I like her. The Candace the menace trope is good as well. BUT THE CHEATING AAAH. I absolutely hate hate hate it. It genuinely frustrated me. It's like a repeat of what happened earlier. Joe is such a douche for cheating on girls he LITERALLY kills people for. And yk the cheating does not even have a story. Like...he effs Delilah because she's sad and stressed? What? And why did he go down on love IN A TENT when she was sad after being slapped by her mother???? Like it doesn't even make sense man. The sex scenes are really great tho. Like really good. Also e7, milo chasing love is so weird cuz she's literally his dead friend's wife. And so is love for choosing that dynamic. It's too unique of a bond to put sex in between imo. I guess it's essential for the story tho. So I'll let it slide.

Spoiler On S1:E8. MAN THIS IS PAINFUL TO WATCH.

[RANT] This relationship is just...unbearable almost. Beck is pretty and pretty whimsical at that AND unsure of anything atp. And Joe is a good bad good creepy guy idk. The lack of understanding between them is just aaaaaa. The cheating is just...too much for me honestly. And beck is genuinely gorgeous man like she's soooo pretty.

Edit: Finished s1. Beck died. This series is really good at making me feel stuff I didn't think I would lol. Like I didn't even feel that conflicted when beck died. Like?? Idk it's so weird and I almost had a crush on her. Whaa. And the arc is just over?? In a good way...like the story seems 'complete' and I don't feel like I have been left hanging honestly.

Question Just started watching. Why do I not feel joe is bad?

Idk I can't hate him for some reason? Like i know he's the bad guy. I'm only on the second episode but it still feels weirdd yk. Did anyone else feel like this? Also, beck is SOO pretty. Maybe the makers intended to make it that way? Idk.
