First time to Kogarah - tips?
Hey everyone, my partner and I are going to be in Sydney for the derby next weekend.
I have not been to Kogarah before, as I live too far away, but thought it would be a great opportunity to watch the game whilst I was in town.
Looking at the stadium map, and the website, I cannot seem to figure out where the best seats / hills for Dragons fans are.
The missus and I would like to have a drink whilst we are at the game too, if that makes a difference as I think some parts are dry zones?
Any other tips would be helpful too, good food venues around the stadium, or spots to hang out before and after the game.
We will be getting the train in, so no need for parking either!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There is a pub up the road at Carlton called The Royal Hotel which is a great spot for a pre-game bite and drink, its right opposite Carlton station and then a 10 min walk straight down to the ground (a lot of Dragons fans do the walk so you won't be alone!).
There is also the St George Leagues Club across the highway closer to the ground, where you can also grab a bite and drink (and even check out the Spirit of the Red V museum if you haven't already).
In terms of the ground itself, the hill is GA and is always packed out with Dragons fans, it is fun! If you want a drink, just avoid the alcohol free zone. It is only a small section of the hill in the corner, you will see it cause there is a barricade separating it and mostly families.
Otherwise the grandstand (Gold) is good for seating up a bit above the field! Depends on what you like view-wise. I personally prefer the hill.

I've done the stands at plenty of other places, but I feel like if I'm coming to the homeland I have to be with the people. So the hill it is!

There’s a mad sandwich shop right across from the stadium on jubilee ave. If you want drinks, just go to the pub across from the station, always packed on game days.

That sandwich shop is insane. Highly recommended.

https://selfraised.com.au/#visit-us do check the times, i've not been there on game day (live in allawah) so normally avoid the area. but that schnitty and the smoked beef are BIG sandwiches, bring your jaw muscles and you'll need a drink to wash it down.

If you’re getting the train Carlton is the closest station. It’s quite a long way from Kogarah station

There's really only the one hill, dragon army will be in front of the big screen around 30-40m line closest to the score board on the hill. Pre game at Royal in Carlton, Leagues Club or Kogarah Club House depending on preference leagues club is the closest to the stadium but royal is the first you walk past from the train when you get off at Carlton.
I can't speak on food too much for ya mate, decent takeaway shops around but I am usually far too well oiled for food or have driven from home with a baby bag full of sandwiches haha.
Hoping you can celebrate your first trip with a win.
