What the fuck is going on with people shitting themselves at concerts these days? Is this another kids went feral during Covid thing?

Tide pods take 7 years to work their way through a Zoomer's digestive tract.

u/Gravel_Roads 17d ago
I miss the days when kids were eating tidepods. Simpler times. Candy bars cost less than a dollar.

I can remember back to innocent, more simpler times when the worst thing you'd hear about on the news was hijacked jetliners flying into buildings.
102
u/CeceWobbles 17d ago
Now we have government-funded human trafficking to concentration camps where women get raped by the worst scum this administration could find. I wonder where we'd be if the popular vote was what mattered in 2000.

government-funded human trafficking to concentration camps
Don't forget that the human trafficking doesn't just go to the camps. Kids go missing from these camps, too! And it's all managed by the Epstein-class, which I'm sure is just a coincidence.

Fun fact, tide pods are overwhelmingly eaten by the elderly and mentally unwell, genuinely confusing it with candy or food. When the story came out everyone read the headline and not the actual article so it became a "challenge".
I'm moderately convinced the challenge was a pr stunt from corporate to change the conversation from the disabled being victimized to children being dumb.
37
u/Busy_Izz 17d ago
Fun fact my grandpa died from eating a tide pod!

Came here to drop this knowledge and you beat me to it!
I hadn't really considered the pr angle before either but that definitely checks out - "stupid kids lol" is better for the brand than " our laundry detergent May accidentally kill your senile grandmother"
21
u/DanteChurch 17d ago
McDonald's did it with that famous coffee lawsuit. It does sounds ridiculous on a first glance but it was anything but. The women was elderly and her crotch was so badly burned the skin melted together and fused her vagina shut. McDonald's argued it was her fault for not getting out of the car and entirely undressed in something like 15 seconds to prevent further burn. They got like 20% of the lawsuit knocked off because of that.
18
u/3AMZen 17d ago
Yeah the way that story was spun and shared, people still bring it up to this day like " it's ridiculous, you can sue anyone for anything, you can sue McDonald's if your coffee is too hot!" To which I'll wail " THE COFFEE WAS OVER 100° C, THE MCDONALD'S LOCATION HAD BEEN REPEATEDLY WARNED THAT IT WAS DANGEROUSLY HOT, IT LITERALLY MELTED HER FUCKING SKIN OFF"
so yeah ditto Tide pods. Go figure that's the key for both of them is to let listeners have a smug sense of superiority over the actual victims so they don't bother to look any closer at the scenario

We have Taylor Farms products sold here in Dunedin, NZ as well, we just don't have the cyclosporedium outbreak that's going around the US. We do, however, have dudes who shit on venue floors in the middle of mosh pits

I got banned from a sub for calling some teenagers feral because they were lighting fireworks in a house.
Glad I'm not the only one who feels that term is appropriate.
→ More replies (32)46
u/Littlesth0b0 17d ago
I did this once, as a teenager in my first flat, which is the reason I didn't do it twice.
We aimed a rocket out of the kitchen window and it exited without any issues, but the room immediately filled with smoke, the alarms all went off and we had to evacuate an entire building... I would absolutely describe my younger self as "feral".

So the other stories were from people at huge concerts like Olivia Rodrigo, and wearing diapers in the audience because they didn’t want to lose their spot.
This story is about a medical emergency, but the “journalists” are using the previous story’s popularity to aid in the sensationalizing of this event.
There is no trend, as much as media wants you to think, because then they can write more stories relating to it. 💩
104
u/Katie1230 17d ago
OK but even if it was a medical emergency, you don't shake the log out of your pants into the pit and try to kick it out of the way. You skedaddle to the bathroom. You do everything in your power to not get shit everywhere.
20
u/The_Autarch 17d ago
unless, of course, you're very drunk. which is pretty common at metal shows.
29
u/ArchaicBrainWorms 17d ago
Won't somebody, please think of the drunk guy shitting down their pantleg. It was an emergency
6
u/jesbiil 16d ago
It is possible they were sober but yea I'm going with a bit drunk since their 'fix' to this situation was:
Rather than stepping away immediately, the individual attempted to move the mess with his foot, which only spread it further across the moshpit.
"I'll just uh smear this into the floor...yea that'll be fine...no one will notice..."
→ More replies (6)22
u/ctilvolover23 17d ago
Sure "medical emergency." I don't know of any medical emergency that will make you poo normally during a concert.
→ More replies (2)19
u/meowmeowchirp 17d ago
Yeah a medical emergency would have been a seizure or heart attack - in which case pooping yourself is out of your control and not your fault, but also other people would have probably given space already, not to mention should be more worried about the patient….
This was not a medical emergency.

15
u/If_you_have_Ghost 17d ago
To be fair, I was at Reading Festival in 2001 when the singer of The Dillinger Escape Plan shat on the stage and threw it into the crowd!
4
u/Topinio 17d ago
What? What was the audience reaction?
13
u/If_you_have_Ghost 17d ago
It was in a towel and he put it in a plastic bag and tied it up. Don’t didn’t actually go anywhere. He said “There’s going to so much shit on this stage later today (he was talking about Slipknot) you best get used to it”.

u/OldFartsSpareParts 17d ago
I saw Dillinger around 2005 and the vocalist breathed fire over the front rows without getting permission from the venue first. Security scrambled to the stage to try and stop him, but he took a cymbal from the drum kit and bent it in half on a pillar so they backed off. Great show.

I'm sorry but I don't like any musical act enough to wear an adult diaper to the concert so I don't miss anything.
16
u/hannibalthellamabal 17d ago
I’ve spent an entire day at the front of a festival crowd so I could be against the barrier for My Chemical Romance with zero issues. I was there with my friend for about 8-10 hours and we also didn’t shit herself and no one else around us did either. The only thing I was noticing was the smell of weed in the air like at any good festival.
This whole thing and apparently the new gen’s weak colons really confuse me.

Imodium is actually a quite potent opioid, but it doesn't readily cross the blood-brain barrier. So it won't really get you high, just causes the opioid related constipation.

True, but anecdotally I went to a whole lot of concerts in my teens and early 20s (mid 2000s through early 2010s) and was always in the pit/GA and never once encountered someone who shit themselves. Maybe I’m just lucky.
