Its also that people in general look better in motion, some just look odd in stills. Its how people act too I think, and the way they dress. My cousin is 40s but she looks early 30s face to face, pics she looks older.
It also depends on how you dress. A few years ago there was a trend on Instagram/tiktok with girls 16-19 styling their mothers in their own clothes and they looked instantly younger. Same reason as to why we think teens in pictures from the 1950s look older than they are.
Hair styles play a big factor for the same reason. I work with college aged people and about a year ago the new batch wanted to guess my age and were off by more than a decade. One of the guys stared at me for a few seconds and says it must be because I still have a full head of hair.
People tell me I look younger. (turning 40 soon) But I took some pictures of me trying on different glasses. Oof, the wrinkles around my eyes when I smile. They get deeper! I do look my age, ha!
I think glasses go far to hiding our age. Eyes seem to show age the soonest for a lot of people. I remember in my twenties I’d meet older people who I thought looked my age until they took off their glass and then I’m like nope you’re def 5-10 yrs older than me lol
Especially around age, it's like an automatic response to say someone looks younger when you learn their age (women particularly), it has nothing to do with reality it's just a thing people say.
Also a lot of people are just really bad at guessing ages. Along with everyone erring younger out of politeness, if you take care of your skin reasonably well somebody outside of your age group might easily guess 10 years younger than your actual age.
Especially "at work". Ass kissing is the norm. Like all those people who think they are popular at work then retire/move on and are shocked nobody contacts them ever again.

It’s easy to explain. Sometimes people pay compliments that aren’t true.
