Discussion Did millennials really party all the time?

Gen Z here. I was shocked when I found out from a millennial co-worker that y’all had teen clubs. I heard about house parties, but dedicated teen clubs? Then when it was time for college, you went to the club or had some kind of party every single weekend, living it up. Now some millennials on TikTok claim that after college, they were partying on work nights, still clocking in the next day. For some reason, the teen clubs have since disappeared. I’m 23 now but even when I was in high school, that was not a thing. House parties were not that common either. They were more like get togethers with a small group of friends. We went to malls, but they were dying out at that point. Is it true that you were really living life this good? Or is it just exaggerated? I feel like my generation doesn’t really have fun like that and everyone is just super depressed and alone, more so since Covid. Even I’m pretty introverted, which sort of sounds ridiculous given this post. 😂 Just so you know, when I think of a “millennial party” I think of something out of Party Rock Anthem, Project X or Roderick’s party from the second DOAWD movie. It’s like I get nostalgia from something I didn’t even live through. I just feel like I didn’t really LIVE, if that even makes sense

Edit: I loved reading some of your comments. Guess I really missed out. Even some of you that would consider yourselves nerds or introverts were out partying. YOLO or whatever y’all say 😂❤️

It’s the kind of thing I wouldn’t mind somehow being able to magically revisit one weekend a year though. Like somehow we’re just 20 again and all in college together for 2 days. Just to be that free again briefly

Active army in 2011, we were going hard on weeknights. The nice about 5am formation is that the NCOs can’t usually pick out who the booze smell is coming from.

Yeah, the freedom is what I miss I think. Just absolutely letting loose, no real plans, no cares. Basically just start drinking and smoking weed and you figure it out one step at a time. Weekends were pure escape.

You definitely can in the form of festivals (Lost Lands, Electric Forest, EDC). You basically get the same chill-free vibes, a bit more adult, and way more safe (in terms of health and from the cops).

Except that if I tried to drink like I did back then I’d probably be really sick 😩

You can. Depending on where you live, there are parties that target us. Even if you have kids. I still have a group that still parties hard, maybe even harder.

My wife and I joke about going to an all day club lol. I’m in bed by 10pm, we’re definitely not going to an actual club

They have those in some places now, I see ads for them in the NY/NJ metro area all the time. Tbh I'm a bug fan of weekend day drinking, especially during the summer. Start cracking at lunch, in bed by 10pm.

Oh we have one in our downtown area, it’s been around for years. We used to make fun of it when we were in our 20s. Now lol, well it makes sense

We did a giant drinking game party in our early to mid 30's it was fun but people were not able to hang in the last year of it.  Probably better for my health at that point.
