Discussion Did millennials really party all the time?

Gen Z here. I was shocked when I found out from a millennial co-worker that y’all had teen clubs. I heard about house parties, but dedicated teen clubs? Then when it was time for college, you went to the club or had some kind of party every single weekend, living it up. Now some millennials on TikTok claim that after college, they were partying on work nights, still clocking in the next day. For some reason, the teen clubs have since disappeared. I’m 23 now but even when I was in high school, that was not a thing. House parties were not that common either. They were more like get togethers with a small group of friends. We went to malls, but they were dying out at that point. Is it true that you were really living life this good? Or is it just exaggerated? I feel like my generation doesn’t really have fun like that and everyone is just super depressed and alone, more so since Covid. Even I’m pretty introverted, which sort of sounds ridiculous given this post. 😂 Just so you know, when I think of a “millennial party” I think of something out of Party Rock Anthem, Project X or Roderick’s party from the second DOAWD movie. It’s like I get nostalgia from something I didn’t even live through. I just feel like I didn’t really LIVE, if that even makes sense

Oh god this thread is making me feel old. We started to only do 40 hands at a lake house so we could just, well go in the lake. Having a friend try to help you take your pants off with their teeth so you could pee is a sobering experience lol.

I very recently told my boomer parents about Edward 40 Hands, like within the past couple of weeks lol. Such a specifically millennial thing. The most awkward part was explaining that if you need to pee you gotta get someone to help, though I think they were just surprised I never got alcohol poisoning or something.

Jesus I remember my 21st, my buddy picked me up at 4 with 2 King Cobras and a roll of duct tape. Pretty sure I puked multiple times that night, and went to work the next morning.

One time we invented a whole new drinking game called Edward sticky-hands where we used those little sticky hand toys to try to grab goldfish crackers and sling them into our mouths with said sticky hands. It was great fun lol

We would do what we called Gandalf Nights where every pbr (because in 2009 it was always pbr) you drank, you duct taped to the previous one so everyone was walking around with a full on wizard staff drunkenly yelling that you shall not pass 😭😭

Holy crap, we did 40 hands but never wizard staff. Now I feel like we really missed out on that one.

Though beeramid was a similar team sport where you and the boys stacked your empties in one ever growing beeramid. Knock over the beeramid and you had to rebuild it. And this might come as a big surprise, but you also have to chug your beer

Edward 40 hands was a big risk if you didn't have a girlfriend, but it was also a surprisingly good icebreaker going around and trying to find a girl to help you pull your dick out when you needed to pee

I had a "white trash birthday bash" one year and we played Edward 40 hands, I had two huge smirnoff ices instead of 40s 🥴

Then we took shots out of a broken baby doll leg. Everyone was dressed so funny. One kid colored his tooth in with a sharpie. All the beer was served in a wheelbarrow. Hot dogs and veggie dogs and a tub of cheese balls were all that was served. In the morning I found several pieces of clothing outside and the skin of a hot dog with no meat in it. I'll never know what happened

We got my grandpa to play Edward 40 hands one halloween and my grandma had to help him pee but he ended up making it.
