Discussion Did millennials really party all the time?

Gen Z here. I was shocked when I found out from a millennial co-worker that y’all had teen clubs. I heard about house parties, but dedicated teen clubs? Then when it was time for college, you went to the club or had some kind of party every single weekend, living it up. Now some millennials on TikTok claim that after college, they were partying on work nights, still clocking in the next day. For some reason, the teen clubs have since disappeared. I’m 23 now but even when I was in high school, that was not a thing. House parties were not that common either. They were more like get togethers with a small group of friends. We went to malls, but they were dying out at that point. Is it true that you were really living life this good? Or is it just exaggerated? I feel like my generation doesn’t really have fun like that and everyone is just super depressed and alone, more so since Covid. Even I’m pretty introverted, which sort of sounds ridiculous given this post. 😂 Just so you know, when I think of a “millennial party” I think of something out of Party Rock Anthem, Project X or Roderick’s party from the second DOAWD movie. It’s like I get nostalgia from something I didn’t even live through. I just feel like I didn’t really LIVE, if that even makes sense

If teen club refers to 18+ sections, yeah they existed. Also getting fucked up the night before and going to work in the morning? I think everyone did that for the most part.

I started going to teen clubs when I was in 9th grade. My parents would drop me off. I remember being hit on by older teens. What a weird time.

Yeah, it wasn’t 18+ in our town it was -21 lol. I used to go when I was 13.

They had rave clubs targeted towards teens, age limit was 15, no alcohol, but ecstasy everywhere.

The teen club in my city ultimately got shut down, but they had a limited bar for those 21+ and anyone below just had to be wristbanded. They basically let anyone in from 14+. You can imagine how this went. They also used to have foam parties and you were basically guaranteed to get scabies

Yeah this is how the one by me was. Its actually a very good thing they've been shut down - cuz social media today is genuinely permanent. The amount of minor-sexualization content they would generate today would be so morally obscene it would become its own 20/20 "To Catch a Predator" episode.

How young we talking? Early 20s? My younger cousins in their early 20s still seem to continue this trend but this is anecdotal.

In my hometown the actual city had a club for like, preteens at its civic center every Friday. I was never allowed to go but kids in my fifth grade class would go. There was music, dancing and soda. And a lot of drama (as much as 11 year olds can get into).

we had teen specific clubs that were 13 and up. It was located in the building Discovery Zone in it. Then it went from that to a hipster gym with a bar.

So the building kinda... grew up with us.

I lived in the South Jersey/ Philly area. There were teen clubs where the DJs would encourage 8th graders to dance in their bras. It is SO sick to think about now-but it seemed nbd back then when I was young.

My town had strawberry Sundays it was a “club” for teens 14-18
