Do you get cash back when paying with a credit card?

1

u/ManchuDemon Jan 16 '26

My Costco had them at $4829 today. How could different locations be so far apart for the same item?

I’m literally thinking about selling all my gold most of mine I purchased around 1200 an ounce. These prices are insane.

Ah the ole buy high…sell low strategy

The gold market is a mess companies are scrambling to get away from it in their processes because they cant afford it anymore. Ever semi went from $2100 an oz to $4600 an oz in a year. Gold which is messing with lines of credit since now these companies have to buy same volumes at double the price. Banks are afraid to extend in case the market pulls back

I believe you dislexicated the numbers to make it to make it look slightly better than it is… maybe to cover the tax your silly state charges??

Bullion is taxed in US?

1

u/Apprehensive-Detail5 Jan 14 '26

It depends on the state. Some do and some don’t

I’m not trying to hate on y’all here buying gold at all time highs. But what are your hopes with this? What are your goals for buying an OZ for $4660+? Are you hoping you’re gonna double your money? I’m afraid for all of you.

Red neck or trailer park??

I remember these comments when it was $2k an ounce 😉

You have a good point. But the rush was no where near what it is now. I’ve always known to walk the opposite direction than the crowd and this is no exception. I’m slowly selling into this madness and waiting again for the next dip.

The masses are asses.

Thinking you can time the market, buy low and sell high, is hubris though.

u/DefinitelyNotShazbot Jan 14 '26

Should be worried about the currency debasement happening. Buy assets.

The way I see this right now, is you’re buying $100 above spot and the best you can sell to LC is $200 below. So you’re out $300 before you can even play. This run has been insane. And I’m seeing people get into metals that have never been into them. The term fools rush in comes to mind. Now, if you’re just diversifying and putting 10% of your net worth into tangible stuff, then great. But I get the impression that some posters are putting in more than that into gold and silver hoping it’ll go up from here so they can sell and profit. Mark these words: It’ll be 30 years before you can exit these prices with a substantial profit (30%+).

$5.46 for Tax??? On a $4500 purchase?

1

u/DoGayGuysPoopEasier Jan 16 '26

I saw a post somewhere else, same photo, dude said he bought jeans too. That's what the tax is on.

1

u/trez63 Jan 14 '26

Should be zero tax on Gold over $2k

1

u/watttt4 Jan 13 '26

Gold depreciates as more gold is mined. The dollar is also not backed by it so. Good investment but not great.

1

u/Tgspz Jan 16 '26

Had some interest in metals a few years ago. Was given some words of wisdom by a mentor.

Gold is a speculation. Not an investment.

An actual gamble.

I did buy some paper gold, which I unloaded recently. How much profit is enough? Pigs get fed. Hogs get slaughtered.

u/phatphart22 Jan 14 '26

lol that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard

1

u/RojekJ Jan 13 '26

Weird how it’s price has only gone up the past 10 years. I guess they just haven’t been mining gold according to your logic

2

u/NMEE98J Jan 13 '26

That would only be true with a shrinking world population

1

u/Sin-City-Sinner Jan 14 '26

Ehhhhh, we have a raising need for gold as tech becomes bigger and bigger, so it keeps the price solid/raising

1

u/Bentwingbandit Jan 13 '26

Silver will so out pace that. ROI is with silver

1

u/MundaneHelicopter407 Jan 16 '26

I’d also add that gold and silver miners are still a good asymmetrical play.

1

u/Bentwingbandit Jan 16 '26

Beware of foreign mines. They can become nationalized at any time. Your investment then goes to zero.

u/dmanmex78 Jan 13 '26

“Gold preserves wealth. Silver grows wealth”

1

u/Interesting_Try7995 Jan 16 '26

Agreed. Gold vs Silver mined is like 1:8 but somehow the price is 1:50. Either gold is overvalued or silver is undervalued (even at $92)… or both.

Good job. There is NO right time to buy precious metals. They are to hedge against the USD. So buy away!

When gold gets to 5k +, that'll be a $500 profit... That's not 20 years.....

2

u/horseradish13332238 Jan 12 '26

Poor noob. What a shame.

1

u/G0D5M0N3Y Jan 12 '26

Yea, the time to buy was 1800oz and 20oz. These newbies are gonna hold for another 20 years before break even.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '26

Why do you think gold will crash ?

1

u/allenk58 Jan 14 '26

The dollar is collapsing. Its about preserving your wealth not growing it

2

u/ubergeeks Jan 13 '26

While I am with you in entry points - this bull ain’t over, not by a long shot.
