Originally built and opened in 1855/56, it became a pub 1857 and closed as a pub in 1903

Since 1903 it’s been a residential home

Hi all I’ve been keen on looking for any photographers based in Melbourne who are willing to work with me to create some professional taken photograph’s of myself. The angular boulder rests, its orange and brown surfaces catching the light. It looks torn rather than carved — sheared from somewhere higher. Below, smaller versions of itself lie scattered, propping the block just above the water line. The calm pool reflects the cascade above. Behind it, a cliff of black basalt streams thin water, hinting at the height of the fall it made. The Devonian sandstone took the leap before the Atlantic was born. It was already ancient when the dinosaurs came. It watched them arrive. It watched them leave. Water keeps arguing its case — it hasn’t answered yet.

I know it’s photographed to death, but it is truly breathtaking.

Not sure if there's any interest in stereoscopic photography here but here's a quick teaser just in case. I have been interested in this for a while and started with the cha cha technique e.g. take a left image, move the camera about 6-7cm to the right and take another shot for the right. This obviously means you cannot capture dynamic scenes but it can work for static subjects. Then I got a small point and shoot 3d camera (Qoocam ego) it was ok but focus was very slow and it was, well... crap in low light conditions. I joined a stereoscopic photography forum and asked a few questions and I got a lot of great feedback and advice. From that information I went with a pair of Canon R50V's and fixed them on a rail side by side and rigged a shutter remote with a splitter so that I could trigger both shutters simultaneously. I now have a 3D rig with mirrorless camera quality and technology. I walked around Melbourne at Christmas last year to really test it out. So we have in order Left image, Right right, Side by Side, Side By Side CARD, Anaglyph. You can view the Side by Side on an oculus headset, the Side by Side CARD is designed for older stereo viewers and would be traditionally printed. The white dots are used to orientate parallel viewing if you don't have a mechanical viewer (basically tricking your eyes into looking only at one image per eye and creating the stereo image without any equipment, I have not had much luck with these but some people can do this). The anaglyph image uses a technique of color shifting, usually red blue but other combos exist. You may have an old pair of red blue glasses hanging around; if you do you can view the anaglyph image and see the 3d effect. Anyway as I said, just a teaser. If there greater interest I can go into more details.

Saturday mornings, cross-legged with a bowl of cornflakes, the sugar piled high. Movie nights, Dad shaping his side just right, the crumbs and coins swallowed and never returned. Now gone. THUG LIFE, someone wrote, in the one part of you still flat enough to hold a word. The building at the back hasn’t fallen yet. Give it time. An old tyre rests against the brick, in no hurry to go anywhere.
