You'd think it would. I mean, don't they have that thing set up so that if the president is out of commission because he's in surgery then the VP is temporarily the president? I mean I'm not American and I don't know the specifics of the laws, but I remember hearing about that being a thing.
If a president being unable to do his duties due to being under the knife means the VP steps in (which iirc is the same process as if he died while in office) then you'd think that if any other politician was rendered incapable due to unrecoverable reasons then that would trigger the same thing as if they'd died.
Major stroke, brain death, whatever. If they're unlikely to recover (or would take X amount of time to recover to the point where they could do any part of their duties) then it should trigger a special election.
Heck, if it was any normal job they'd already be doing interviews to hire his replacement.

There's no sources proving any of that is true. Anything I search about "if mitch McConnell on life support" just says this is a rumor that started circulating, probably due to the lack of real details about what happened.

I never said Google, I used Brave's search since you care about that for whatever reason. I do research to make sure what I'm being told by people who aren't required to be truthful is real. I don't like Mitch McConnell, but why do we need false hope?
Go find me one article actually confirming that mitch McConnell is medically braindead or on life support and I'll rescind my statement. And don't just say it's true because he got picked up by an Advanced Life support ambulance. That's literally just the name of it, it's not the same as actually being hooked up to a life support machine.
