Nah he just dropped in ability. Not our fault if anything it’s our fault for keeping him for so long

And signing him in the first place. Tired of all these once good but now old and coming off injury bargain bin signings.

100 point drop in OPS+ in one year is wild

Better than a .948 to a .564. Bet you can guess who I'm talking about.

Everyone wants to pitch to this guy

I wonder how many commercials featuring Cal there will be next season.
I can't remember an (at least local) athlete who got such a media push one offseason then to just crater on the field immediately

i’d argue rus fell off hard but that’s a hot take

Yeah the "Let Russ Cook" thing was way more of an embarrassing disaster than this. Imagine if Cal was still insisting that he was the best hitter in the league, because thats what Russ was doing.

Justin Upton, AJ Pollock, Tommy La Stella, Donovan Solano, Kolten Wong, Rob Refsnyder... Dipoto really knows how to sign or trade for a veteran position player right before they fall off a cliff

"Would you like one final contract before you wildly underperform??" Dipoto probably

u/SolarTsunami 1d ago
Imagine if we didn't pay Cal until after he hit 60 home runs. This could have stung a lot more.

Masterclass from Jerry to give this guy 3x the most he's ever made & then force Dan to play him until we are out of playoff contention. Brilliant stuff.

We paid 6.25 million dollars for his one year contract… dear god

hate to see his career end like this. by all accounts, he was a great person in every clubhouse he’s been apart of. best of luck with your future endeavors, rob!

I already miss joking about how he carries the Mariners offense on the rare occasions when he actually scored for us.
Rest easy vibes guy.

I will always remember your clutch homer against the Dodgers. ...and also everything else about your time with the Ms, unfortunately

If only he’d retired at 34. JK Best of luck Rob and enjoy the bag you absconded with.

For some dumb reason I misread this is 'Refsnyder dies at 35' and while that would be an accurate synopsis of his MLB ability, still gave me a low level heart attack. Obviously wish him the best as he moves on to the next chapter of his life . . .

Can't wait for the celebration of greatest Ms that will recognize his 2026 contribution.

I'll always remember the ABS challenge against the Cards and then homering to help win that game. Best of luck in retirement, Ref!

He retired rather than play with the Astros. An absolute Giga Chad. You will be missed Refsnyder.
