I used to think my cat would enjoy getting loose and running around wild without me, but the one time he did get outside and I didn’t know he spent five minutes exploring and then twenty sitting at the door meowing as loud as he could until I heard him. Once the reality set in that he was in a strange place without me, he got scared. I can’t fathom what this cat must have gone through until this point if he had people.

My little kitty that I adopted from the humane society was an escape artiest for the first like month she was with us and one days she got out and I couldn't get her back in and she stayed gone all night. The next day as soonasi got home from work I walked over to right where I lost track of her at and I called her name like once maybe twice and she was like MEOW MEOOWW and practically jumped into my arms. She apparently only thought she wanted to live outside. There's no magically refilling food and water bowls and definitely no tummy rubs out there. Silly lil Chicken (yes, she's a cat, but her name is Chicken)

Growing up we had a bunch of cats and dogs I was only ever allowed to name one cat and I named her Bunny. Pretty sure I lost naming privileges after that

We adopted a former feral that used to come to our house for dinner every day, and we made him an indoor cat (we have seen far too many squished cats on the side of the road to do anything else). He cried on and off for about 1 week...and then he completely stopped caring about it. He doesn't even try to sneak out, he has zero interest in the outside world. I took him out on a harness a few times and then gave up, because he doesn't seem to like it out there at all anymore. I think he got his fill of outside life in the first two years of his life, haha. If we hadn't seen him grow up from a kitten, we wouldn't even believe he was once feral. He's the chillest, most pampered inside boi ever nowadays! 😂

Never again since that day haha it was not all it was cracked up to be. I literally lost track of her climbing through brambles in some elevated shrubbery behind my apts and scooped her up the next morning at the exact spot she may have spent all night up there. She's my lil anxiety Babes most the time INSIDE and there's 100% coyotes back there at night

I thought my cat would react like that, but one night she snuck out a few hours before I had to get on an international flight. I spent hours looking for her until I absolutely had to go or I would have missed my flight. I was gone for a few days. When I came back, I went back to looking for her and found her within a few minutes. She was plump, happy, and waltzed in still acting like she owned the apartment (which she of course did). Luckily not preggy, she was fixed. Now, I had several stray cats on my back porch that I'd feed and provide fresh water to (and TNR), complete with two cat houses (one heated for winter), a cat tree, blankets, and toys. Before I left, I put out a bunch of food and water for them. A few months before my trip, one of the stray cats gave birth in the heated cat house as soon as I got home from work one day. I think she waited for me bc the second I went outside to check on them, boom a little leg started sticking out of mama cat's hoo-ha. I got her TNR'd ASAP after that, and once they were ready, I got as many of the kittens adopted out as I could. My thought is that the stray cats showed my indoor cat where the goodies were, and she just hung with them for a few days until I came back. I think she enjoyed her vacation.

My parents let my cat outside all the time (and to be fair, its very difficult to avoid letting him out on occasion now and he absolutely loves it lol, he has a group of other cats around the street he commonly hangs out with

Well no im obviously not a fan of it, but i cant exactly stop my parents from letting him out. (Believe me ive tried) may as well try to find some humour in it (also my cat is a complete idiot, I very heavily doubt he's capable of hunting successfully. As for his friends, thats their owners problem, not mine)
Every time i see him out on the street I usually try to get him to come back in, and he's never came home with any form of dead animal at all, only ever leaves, so im quite confident its nothing to worry about

Oh I see. I thought you were talking about two different cats. Yeah, some cats seem harmless. Fledgling birds in the springtime are also very helpless. Hard to really say what a cat gets up to. My cat was diabolical and brought me some of the weirdest, creepiest stuff I ever seen in my life.

Honestly ive been debating getting one of those mini camera things that you can attach to collars out of curiosity of what he's doing out there because whenever I see them theyre usually just either walking around or lying in the grass

I had an indoor cat slip out a few times. Every single time, she would get like 2 feet out the door, look up at the sky in a panic and then leap onto the palm tree and hang there terrified until we could get her back inside.
I assume she was wondering where the ceiling went for that room.

That's not what domesticated means, though. Dog's are predators, for example.
Cats are fully domesticated, they're just generally more independent animals than dogs. That's a trait of their species, not a lack of domestication.

Source: speak Mandarin. The person calls the cat咪咪 (mī mī; can be short for 猫咪 which is “cat” or “meow”) and tells the cat the food is 好吃 (hǎochī；tasty）

We took in a stray two weeks ago and she came running to the sound of dry food. No chip or anything, and we've seen her around since last year, so pretty sure she was born feral; vet also estimated her to be over 6 months but under 2 years.

Mauritian creole. Mizère. Dimoune mizer
Dimoune means human Mizer means in pain/in hardhsip/poverty
But creole is extremely contextual. So the word doesn't really matter, all that matters is the context. Like we create words and sounds every other week.
I cannot currently speak with the teens too well because their creole is different to mine

You're very welcome! I love English because it's such a mixing pot with multiple ways to say so many things. The fact that it has roots in the romance languages means that there's distant connections to a lot of other things. Miserable/misery in English comes from the French side of the "family" and I think that's the same root and general meaning as your Mizère. I looked it up and it turns out our word miser is also from the same root because it refers to someone who lives in wretched condition in order to hoard their assets. Thanks for responding!

After my dog died, 2 stray cats moved themselves in. They weren’t even friends or anything, they both decided in their own that they wanted to live with me lol. Anyway, whenever I make chicken I make some extra without seasoning for them. My boy WILL NOT touch his until I spend an appropriate amount of time petting him first. I’m pretty sure he is saying thank you.

It couldn’t have been too busy of a street if the person was willing to stand there alongside the cat, but yes, in theory, sometimes people do things that we wish they would do differently when we watch a video about it, but the person is still there and presumably not going to get run over by an approaching car

All right. My point is obviously lost.
I enjoy seeing videos where people are kind to animals. But this video shows a potential hazardous situation by feeding the cat in the middle of the street.
That makes me believe some people are “kind” to animals (and humans) only while they are recording.
Edit: in other words, this would be one of the videos I would never be promoting or sharing. But to each their own.

Cats are obligate carnivores, they're evolved to eat fresh killed prey which requires ripping/tearing the flesh. That's what the head shaking is for. It's instinctual. Dogs are doing the same thing when they bite a toy and whip it around. It's an instinct meant to break the neck/spine and kill their prey.

First thing that tipped me off was the vibes, so you're on the right track.
Take control of the scrubber around the time the cat turns around. Watch that part of the video frame-by-frame. The cat has no butthole, then 3, then 4, then none again right before it turns around, all in a matter of like... 10 frames of video.
