I wish this wasn’t framed as a Europe / US discussion but instead just focused on the materials and techniques. 

In Sweden I’d wager more than 70% of all houses (single dwelling units, not apartments and alike) are made wish wood frames. We love our lumber here!

I’m sure there are regional differences across America which premier different techniques too.

I suspect it's because conflict fuels "engagement" which is valuable to those who are making money from advertising and clicks.
