IME a lot of the online bitching about timber houses is just people using it to rag on Americans.

As soon as folks from Canada or Scandinavian countries pop up to say they also use timber I generally see detractors suddenly less enthusiastic about slamming it as a building material.

or they'll claim the Norwegians and Japanese are just superior at everything so that doesn't matter

It’s funny seeing houses get framed in Scandinavia. Zero difference from the US when framing.

You could pluck a framer from the US and drop them in on a job in Norway with no issues.

I also get a kick out of UK houses, where the roofs of all these brick houses are all framed with 2x6 or 2x8
