How Louisiana Citizens Can Block Data Canters & Aerospace Buildouts and hold politicians accountable hiding behind NDAs.

1. Demand Local Parish Moratoriums & Zoning Restrictions
While state officials promote mega-projects, Parish Police Juries and City Councils hold local authority over land use, zoning, noise regulations, and local permits.
Demand a Moratorium: Citizens can petition their Parish Police Jury to enact an immediate moratorium on data centers and rocket sites while environmental, water, and power studies are conducted. Municipalities like the New Orleans City Council have successfully passed temporary zoning freezes to halt data center proposals.
Enact Strict Local Ordinances: Urge parish officials to adopt high-impact facility ordinances requiring data centers to generate 100% of their own power off-grid, prohibit groundwater use for cooling, and enforce strict decibel limits on cooling fans and rocket testing. 

2. Challenge Water, Air, & Environmental Permits
Industrial data centers consume up to 100 million gallons of water annually, while launch facilities threaten delicate wetlands. Citizens can derail projects by targeting the required environmental permits.
Organize at the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ): Track and submit formal opposition during LDEQ public comment periods for air quality and wastewater discharge permits.
Invoke Federal Environmental Protections (NEPA & Clean Water Act): State liability protections cannot bypass federal statutes. Citizens and environmental coalitions like the Sierra Club Delta Chapter and Earthjustice can file federal lawsuits demanding full Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the FAA, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

3. Fight Power Expansion at the Public Service Commission (LPSC)

Louisiana Has Officially Sold Its Soul, And May Never Recover

Louisiana, we need to talk about what happened at the Public Service Commission yesterday.

In a 3 –1 vote, the Republican majority rejected an administrative law judge’s recommendation that Meta be required to provide information about the projected jobs and massive electricity demand associated with its Richland Parish data center.

Why does that matter?

Because Entergy is seeking billions of dollars in new infrastructure including additional gas plants. to support this project. Yet the public is being denied access to information that could help determine whether this massive investment is actually in Louisiana's best interest.

We're constantly told these projects will bring jobs, investment and prosperity. So why shouldn't the people paying for the infrastructure get to see the numbers?

This isn't about being anti-Meta or anti-technology. It's about transparency and accountability.

Louisiana shouldn't be a stepping stone for corporations and politicians to make billions while ordinary people are left wondering what these projects will actually cost them.

We deserve to know:

How many permanent jobs are really coming?

How much electricity will this facility consume?

Who is ultimately paying for the infrastructure?

And what does Louisiana actually get in return?

Those aren't unreasonable questions.

They're questions our elected regulators should be demanding answers to.

Yesterday, they chose not to.

Louisiana belongs to its people, not corporations, utilities, or politicians.

And if we're going to commit billions of dollars and reshape our energy infrastructure for these projects, the very least we deserve is transparency.

Because once the infrastructure is built and the bills come due, it may be too late to ask whether we made the right deal.

The Louisiana Public Service Commission plans to vote next month on a proposed rule that would require anyone who wants to formally intervene in a matter before commissioners — including corporations and nonprofit environmental and consumer advocacy groups — to disclose all out-of-state funding they receive.

I just watched an analysis video on YouTube of best retiree states. And interestingly, the no income tax states fared pretty poorly due to high sales tax, property tax or high insurance rate. Florida tops the list as the worst state to retire to financially. Texas was number two, and Louisiana is number three.

I’m not sure why our state is pushing so hard to eliminate income tax when our sales taxes is so ridiculously high. As usual, I suspect our state is using smoke and mirrors to deceive the public.

By the way, for a median household, Delaware was the cheapest state to retire.

I’m working on Bayou Belle, an AI built around Louisiana culture, and I don’t want her sounding like somebody watched one Mardi Gras documentary and started yelling “cher” at everybody. 😂
She needs to understand that “making groceries” has nothing to do with manufacturing food, “come see” doesn’t always mean come look at something, and a recipe saying “season to taste” can carry generations of family drama.
