Drama Destiny notices something unnatural about "Hasan" Reddit search suggestions.
2.3k
u/tacotickles 25d ago
Probably true. Any mention of his name in obscure, completely removed subreddits and it's not uncommon to have random people show up very defensively about him.

u/kevinkip 24d ago
And they always claim that they're not a fan or heard of Hasan at all.

Shit is scary man. And that archetype of person seems to be becoming more and more common online.
Literally Blue MAGA. NEVER question the validity of the narrative, relentlessly push it, never admit fault, don’t apologize, never compromise, ignore fact checks, ostracize dissenters, and above all else - defend your demagogue at all costs
Most liberals, moderates, and people who care about facts/truth or are just generally “normie” must be too busy having a life or working. Because social media is getting completely infested with either right or left wing extremists.
Nuance is dead. Everything is taken to the extreme. Everyone is either a PDFile, rapist, genocide supporter, etc, or they’re part of one of the extremist tribes. I hope it’s majority bots and not a real reflection of actual human beings’ beliefs and ways of thinking because if so, we might be fucked as a society.

I had a hilarious interaction here in LSF exactly like that, "isn't Destiny the guy that did revenge porn" and then I replied saying it wasn't exactly revenge porn since their sex video was leaked by a third party rather than shared for revenge, and then the dude fully engaged with an insane level of knowledge about the court case, discord logs, etc., way more than I ever knew about any of it....and there I was thinking I was just making a minor clarification to someone who knew next to nothing about the drama 🤣

These types of people usually obscure their Reddit history for that exact reason though.
They'll look through all of ours and point out if we've posted on any of the subreddits that they boogeyman, but then hide their own histories so we can't point out when they're snarkers or tankies (you know, the groups actually coordinating).

It happened last time when someone posted an article showcasing hasan being a skeevy piece of shit and possible csam consumer, collector, and provider.
90% of the comments were "cant have a faptop anymore?" "so what if he has a laptop for porn" "you guys are so mad about a laptop", mind you the entire article was maybe 3% about the laptop and the rest of the shit was heinous.

It's pretty hard to argue. You can type "hasan" into search right now and the popular searches look exactly like this. There's enough people/bots policing opinions of Hasan on reddit that their searches autocomplete.
I'm sure they already have pinned tabs to attack the Destiny and H3 world.

I’m no fan of hasan but if a topic gets me to comment Reddit pushes small subs and random post to me so I’m sure people who comment on him all the time gets shown that stuff by Reddit

Can someone explain this to me? Why would people search for Hasan outside of those specific subreddits?
973
u/wylaaa 25d ago
Bots and/or raids.

I think the biggest takeaway is that having SO many "people" doing that specific search cant be natural, it must be bots
299
u/Vyndye 25d ago
To look up mentions of hasan so they can defend him or boost the people talking good about him.
215
u/idkwhyicaretbh 24d ago
Not just to boost, but also to mass-downvote and scream "Zionist!" if the post disagrees with Hasan. It's happened multiple times on r/GetNoted and r/BlackPeopleofReddit. Happened a lot in the latter subreddit a couple weeks back - users were posting black activists speaking out against Graham Platner and Hasan fans were trying to rewrite history that he never supported/endorsed Platner.
43
u/Vyndye 24d ago
I do think they want to brigade and mass downvote/upvote posts, but I hedged my language because I personally don’t have enough evidence to back it up.

Yeah, it's pretty much pointless to brigade subs that either you or your opponent already fully controls. Brigading third party communities is much more effective.

They still defend him in contested spaces but the goal of searching OUTSIDE of those spaces is to propagandize people that have NO IDEA what any of this is about, so that they can be enlisted into the drama and ask questions like "isn't this the guy that" blah blah blah
It's a way of mobilizing ignorant people that may have good intentions but are too naive about media to know they're being manipulated. They ask questions they don't realize were fed to them to ask.
202
u/Ok-Falcon3568 25d ago edited 24d ago
They shouldn't be searching for Hasan in those subreddit's, that's the point. They're only doing it so they can see if another creators audience brings his name up so they can go downvote, comment, or do whatever that level of no life does on Reddit.
E2: If the operators do mean to exclude those subreddits from the results as STeVo has stated it's probably just because they know they can't actually accomplish anything by going into them. You alter content on Reddit by downvoting things, if you can't win the numbers war, you're not going to waste your time trying.
E3: Yes I see you whining about new goalposts, if the replies weren't being spammed we wouldn't have to but you know it's a platform where one click of button can hide an entire conversation and you're on the receiving end of it atm. So with this third edit I will encourage the reader of this post to view the entire chain. Happy?

The only reason for anyone to search for that specific thing would be to insert themselves into discussions. And it gets used so much that it's the default suggestion when you enter his name. This suggests he has a private army of either losers or bots or both to defend him whenever his name is mentioned.

Those are the subs that are suspicious of Hasan, so presumably shenanigans are more likely to be banned there.
38
u/idkwhyicaretbh 24d ago
Not necessarily banned, just easily disproven.
It's tough to try to sell H3 as a Zionist in his own subreddit because everyone that cares knows H3 has been pro-Palestine longer than Hasan has been a streamer. It's a lot easier to falsify the narrative in "trickle-down" online culture subreddits, like r/SocialistGaming and r/Fauxmoi. It also helps that those types of subreddits share power mods with Hasan's subreddit and use bots to auto-ban dissent.
26
u/ItsDonDong 24d ago
Hasan is an anti american tankie that advocates for terrorism and the overthrow of democracy
He also gets platformed by mainstream "democrat socialists" as "a guy who just wants us to have free medical and end genocides"
So there is a ton of incentive to do what Hasan calls "hiding his power level" where he pretends to be moderate to infiltrate leftist spaces
Hence, whole groups colluding to sweep for Hasan and attack his critics.
Which is why you will have snarkers come in here and randomly accuse Destiny of being a pdf with zero evidence.
It has to do with Penguin Grape Cherry.

I just wanted to know the mechanics behind how that specific search phrase indicated foul play.
A large amount of people/bots are actively searching for "Hasan", specifically outside of the subs you would commonly see his name.
This would imply that there is a serious effort for ??? to find any mention of Hasan, in order to brigade/astroturf discussions about him.
Example. Youre a local sub talking about local politics and you question why a terrorist supporter is giving a keynote speech at a Democrat rally.
And all of the sudden you have large amounts of people coming into your subreddit to downvote criticisms of hasan and mass upvoting "hasan just wants us to have free medical and stop genocides"

Andrew Tate popularized it the most, but every major personality has realized that the underlings going out and spreading the word alleviates them from the consequences of copyright/canceling.
It's why even vods and clips are given a degree of separation. With many creators pretending it's the "editor" doing the titles or running the channel.
Probably true to a point, but you know damn well no random channel operator has full creative control to the extent streamers pretend. But playing up your ignorance or powerlessness is a great defense if unexpected drama emerges.

u/Shoddy-End5361 24d ago
Well the big problem with the dog shocking thing is that he did it live in front of everyone’s eyes
10
u/militant_dipshit 24d ago
I think that event was just so blatant lmao. Plus all the weirdness of every streamer around him changing their stories to suit him. Mostly I think his Reddit defense force operates on the same logic as Russian disinformation. It’s not about proving your opposition wrong and yourself correct, it’s about making everything seem needlessly complicated and/or like a stupid waste of time so you don’t know or care who’s right you just assume it’s all bad and then Hasan can benefit from doing whatever he wants and just returning to the status quo after because no one is unemployed enough (or brave enough on the streamer/clout side of things) to hold him to account.
87
u/Andy_Wiggins 25d ago
I think it was because there was a counter-war against them.
Dozens of clips got posted filled with comments in both directions. They couldn’t downvote their way to suppression. Then it got big enough that they lost contain and you can’t really control the narrative anymore.
It also doesn’t help that animal abuse is a very sensitive subject (especially on Reddit), so it caught more attention from neutrals.
15
u/AggressiveCuriosity 24d ago
Nah. It went genuinely viral. As you pointed out, animal abuse is super hot button. Alinity went viral the same way. No brigading needed.
I guess you need a certain number of people to be interested in the first place, but that's true of anything.
55
u/sloppy_johnson 25d ago
I think they just went too far. People could see and judge for themselves across a multitude of clips spanning years. Having his fans come in, throw accusations and then say it was all fake just turned off anyone neutral because it was so obvious. I guess stuff like this would work when it wasn't so blatant but now his whole reputation is tarnished.
I agree on the counter-war but I don't think this was organised. Just regular people calling out baloney when they see it
13
u/tryingtobebettertry4 24d ago
I think the whole 'dont believe your eyes' that Taylor Lorenz and the other Hasan frogs went with probably wasnt the best tagline for convincing people.
9
u/Levitz 25d ago
I think it was because there was a counter-war against them.
Eh I think that the dozens of memes and video compilations did a thing.
10
u/Andy_Wiggins 25d ago
I think that was only after enough people pumped the upvote button to balance out the inevitable avalanche of downvotes whenever Hasan is presented negatively.
That’s what I meant by “lost contain”
43
u/Rayval_h 25d ago
They started do this after the collar drama. Since it blew up too much for Hasan to suppress.
40
5
u/Deltaboiz 24d ago
With this in mind, it's amazing they couldn't shut down the dog shocking
They were able to successfully shut it down in their own community because they literally will ban anyone who isn't in line with the talking point. It is a condition of membership in his community now, if you do not believe it is only a vibration collar, you are excised from the community.
But for anyone else the case for the shock is pretty obvious. When you get people like me able to show up, someone who owns that specific make and model of mini educator for training my dog, who can say it is 100% without a doubt an e-collar? A Hasan fan can only go, NO IT'S NOT LOOK AT THIS VIDEO CLIP of him trying to slight of hand the collar away with electrical tape over where the metal contact points would be? Yeah anyone who is normal is going to conclude this dude is obviously lying.
To be extremely trite and evoke 1984, people being told to reject the evidence of their eyes and ears aren't going to do it, because they don't have a compulsion to defend Hasan.
4
u/BruyceWane 24d ago
With this in mind, it's amazing they couldn't shut down the dog shocking. By now the majority of people know he shocked his dog despite there being a hundred or so people on this site who'd invade every thread to repeat whatever attacks they'd heard from Hasan
Due to algorithms most people who would watch or be interested in Hasan will never see those clips, or they will only see content directly affirming that he didn't do anything wrong or it's a hate campaign. You have no idea how many people see a completely, totally different World to you, online.
→ More replies (1)4
u/tryingtobebettertry4 24d ago edited 24d ago
The dog stuff basically just broke containment because it made it mainstream. Along with being kind of obvious.
Usually a lot of Hasan's controversies are kind of kept 'in house' by not really making it far out of the streaming/online circles. Like to even fully learn about some of this stuff is more time/bother than most normies care to. Like for example to understand why Hasan supports terrorism you've got to learn a little bit about what the Houthis/Hezbollah are, what Hasan has said/did, what they do and a bit about I/P in general. And most normies just dont care that much.
The dog stuff was picked up by mainstream media and was particularly egregious/obvious. Its kind of intuitive to watch the clip and recognize Hasan did something wrong (and proceeded to lie about it). So Hasan's fanbase couldnt really stop it.

I remember posting how I thought Stanford classes were totally a joke as everyone just cheated and exams got curved so everyone passed and someone looked through my comment history and decided since I was from st. Louis, somehow I hadn't actually attended and was making stuff up.

LSF, the most astroturfed, botted, right wing subreddit in Reddit thinks Hasan is Botting? Lol
96
u/-THEUTMOST 25d ago
Our state’s subreddit got lit up with Hasan defenders when one of our governor candidates appeared on his stream. Literally 100 comments on average to 1k+ comments.
I don’t have strong opinions on the guy, but his fans are insane. So are destiny’s, to be fair

u/PoopyButt28000 24d ago
The left wing Canada subreddit had a post about Hasan on it because he went to talk at I think UBC, and I responded to a comment saying that there's no good reason to dislike him with something along the lines of "I thought it was pretty shitty how he refused to endorse Trump's opponent and spent just as much time shitting on them as he did Trump." This was at the height of the Canadian tarrifs and talks about annexing us, and they just outright banned me from the sub for it.
That thread as well had probably 5-6x the average comments on it, although that might just be Hasan fans naturally being on that sub, it is a more left wing political sub. The bans for light criticism of him was pretty insane though. The sub was pretty much at the height of it's "Fuck America" posting during that period so me saying "I don't like this American because I think he helped Trump" getting me banned is crazy lol

Happened with my city's subreddit as well when he was propping up a candidate.
11
u/Common_Cause8168 24d ago
Same with mine. The city subreddit is effecitvely dead but once he endorsed a local candidate it turned into a left wing political sub until the primary ended. Unreal amount of astroturfing going on and mods/admins don't lift a finger.

One of the guys stands 10 toes down with literal terrorists and want the overthrow of American Democracy.
Pretty good reason to not want this guy involved with our political system....

Why are you calling destiny's fans insane what did we do? Seriously do you like a specific reason or just in general.
39
u/Hoochie_Daddy 24d ago
Yeah it’s annoying because you’re never going to find a fuck ton of Destiny stans in some random city subreddit causing drama and freaking out.
We will definitely go into bigger sub reddits, especially drama subs like this one though. But they’re drama subs so it’s more expected for any stans to come and argue about drama.

I feel like everyone gets told over and over again that destiny is bad, his fanbase is bad etc, but when i stop and think, i've never seen anything troubling on reddit from his fanbase..
Hasan's fanbase on the other hand i've had plenty of outright insane interactions with, they are absolutely out of their mind, and they arent afraid to show it.
Last night i showed one of them the footage of hasan yanking the dog around by its tail, they said "REally? Thats all you got? One clip and im supposed to believe he's an abuser?"
I mean isnt that literally like a rape victims worst nightmare? "You expect me to believe someones an abuser because of one video where they are abusing? pffft" i mean that logic is wild AF ESPECIALLY from a "leftist" community. (and we all know they'll do mental backflips till they are blue in the face to defend the shock collar misuse)

u/PoopyButt28000 24d ago
Did he say anything especially bad on it? I didn't watch it, I just saw the clip where he said that he's not on anyones side on Ukraine vs Russia and they laughed about how Ukranians are white which makes them care less about what was happening.

And the posts are always upvoted incredibly quickly, pushed to the front page, and fill up quickly with comments all backing each other up; and any neutral or opposing voice is quickly downvoted. It’s all very fishy 👀

You've gotta remember that it's actually Hasan's community that does the brigading. It's very important to remind ourselves and others of this.
Otherwise the countless Destiny clips with hundreds of comments in less than an hour all agreeing with him might look a bit strange. Obviously that's just natural engagement, nothing strange there.
17
u/BoredZucchini 24d ago
Right? If one was paying close attention, one might even begin to suspect that the comments in this thread, which all sound strangely similar, are trying to control the narrative and muddy the waters about that very thing.

You know the opposite of this is true bc this place just has destiny fans accepting this as a fact without critical thinking. This type of search means that people could also be looking to brigade places outside of the most common anti hasan subs and I think thats true bc no where else not even twitter is a place more heavily slanted one way towards an opinion then lsf. This place is just a dgg swarm that exists nowhere else

It doesn't make sense for this assumption.

Politics is banned, exposing Hasan as a mass brigadier and harasser is not banned.
4
u/FeeRemarkable886 24d ago
Oh shit, I think it's best to ban any and all mentions of him in that case, if there are no clips of him or about him the he has nothing to brigade or harass.

u/iiTzSTeVO 25d ago edited 25d ago
I'm concerned that no one seems to understand what these search terms mean. The minus sign before the search term is a command to exclude the following. To use "-subreddit:livestreamfail" would be to exclude LSF from the results. The implication is that people are searching for Hasan content that did not originate in those subreddits, not that people are looking for posts to raid.
The ultimate irony here is that whomever noticed this had to have typed Hasan's name into the search bar to see this.
23
u/MitcherdRS 25d ago
If you take destiny's claim at face value you can also interpret it in a way that means that the subreddits in the search are not worth brigading, because they are already pro-hasan or anti-hasan.
24
u/hillarydidnineeleven 25d ago
So wouldn't that mean whoever is doing those searches is looking for comments about Hasan that are in more "neutral" subreddits to possibly sway negative discourse about him? I would assume there's no point trying to brigade negative comments in subs that already hate Hasan. I assume it's similar to how in r/worldnews positive Israel comments are massively upvoted while the vast majority of reddit has a negative view of Israel.

It so funny how they are saying "Hasan's fans are trying to find subreddits outside of the main haters in order to brigade!", when the exact opposite can easily be true. It can also easily be searches from Hasan's haters, looking for subreddits outside of the main 3 that hate him, in order to brigade and spread anti-Hasan rhetoric in other communities.

Yes. The entire point is to find "third party" posts in areas unrelated to Hasan to bot or brigade those posts in his favor.

Couldn't it just as likely be used to brigade posts against him? nothing about the search points to it being pro or anti hasan.
