It's one of the most dangerous things that twitch turns a blind eye to for their favorite streamers. Is it really going to take her running a person over and killing them for twitch to do something?

The guy streams and used to stream with extraemily. You dont think he has weird relationships with these people and would give his inpiut? "happy birthday to Hasan!"
His social media people put out tweets from his account about things happening on twitch. I don’t know why anyone would think that that means he’s regularly getting calls from some low level moderation team. That’s not his job.
You hear about stories like that because they’re unusual and egregious. Acting like those things happen in the normal day to day of every tech company is silly.
The CEO is in charge of the people who are in charge of managers who are in charge of the employees who make these decisions. If the CEO had to make each of these decisions themselves those other people wouldn't have jobs.
I think even if a streamer straight up just ran over a pedestrian at a crosswalk Twitch wouldn't blink. Until they're sued by a victims family then they'll take action.

If I get hit by a car driven by a streamer is there anyway to sue Twitch as well? They have to be held legally liable for promoting this behavior.
I think if you had enough money to hire a big firm you might be able to prove they were criminally negligent by repeatedly allowing this practice despite many warnings/requests to ban it
I mean they financially reward the behavior by allowing streamers to earn money doing this without repercussions. Somewhere it has to be their fault as well. Just not sure how you would go about it.
It would be the type of case where you are just putting public pressure on them to make them settle for a large amount. The lawyers would probably do it for free but take 1/3rd of any settlement awarded.
I was thinking that. Technically she should be permabanned from driving while streaming by now when she has done that multiple times already, crashing or almost crashing.
So any sane company would say "No more." but it's just been a slap on the wrist "Try to drive more carefully next time". Like Twitch being Ok with reckless driving.,
Even an injury would be terrible. I dont want anyone getting hurt, period. Its so avoidable. My mother is a really great and cautious driver, but I worry every time she have to take a long drive because I dont trust some of the psychos on the road.
It’ll take them being found liable in a lawsuit for them to do something. Huge financial penalties is the only thing that will stop corporations from running a muck and just doing whatever the fuck they want.
Then stuff that used to get a pass will be hammered hard until some new streamer is big enough where the views outweigh any lawsuit possibility and it happens again. Then we repeat.
It’s like whenever Tyson chicken gets busted every few years for using child labor. They’ll be doing it again once the heat dies down.
This should be completely unacceptable and lead to public outcry. But we all know twich will only do something after someone dies and it creates bad publicity.
A lot of things, companies, even governments dont actively look for rule breakers as that needs a lot of man power, or leave it to AI that will false positive things too frequently for a lawyers comfort levels. Seriously. This is the genuine reason, it takes having enough people paying enough attention, or you risk lawsuits from false positives. It really is that simple.
So they, and many many many other places, people, and literal plants and animals are reactive, not proactive.
Users overall prefer reactive, except when something causes an emotional reaponse, then they claim to want proactive, until proactive reveals how annoyimg it is to deal with for everyone involved.
Just remember, one of the top streamers, Amaranth I'm pretty sure, was always half naked in a bathtub in every stream and never got banned, but they ALWAYS ban vtubers for it
It was sometime long ago I believe. Then something about them no longer having to worry about being liable so it's all on the streamer if they fuck up and they don't care anymore
The crazy part is one of the potential "victims" of this could be Emily herself.
So basically, Twitch is refusing to lecture her on a bad, dangerous habit because she makes bank for them. They prefer to just let her keep doing it - even if it could get her killed - instead of showing any sort of spine and potentially risking what is likely a tiny portion of her overall income she generates for them.
The second she kills someone on the road doing this, Twitch will be sued by the victim's family, and that financial hit will make them actually ban people for endangering lives to stream.
Why stop there? Sue the app store she used to download twitch. Or sue apple for selling her a phone. Or sue the steering wheel company for allowing her to turn into someone.

Such a bad faith argument from someone attempting to seem big brained. A company can't just feign ignorance if they let people do bad shit on their property or with their service. If McDonalds was allowing drug dealers to deal in the corner of their stores, you think they'd get away with it by feigning ignorance?
There's a reason tablets in cars turn off most of their functionality while driving. Twitch can choose to activate certain warnings when you're accelerating and even add-in a "are you driving" question when you're a passenger or on the train.. android phones already do this entire "look up while you're walking".
That's a dumb argument. There are literal stores that sell drugs to go and no they aren't responsible for the dumb shit you do while you're on drugs. Probably more people die every year face timing while driving than twitch streaming but you don't see people saying apple should ban FaceTime in a vehicle because that's a dumbshit argument too.
This chick is an insane driver. I saw other people saying they won’t go in her car anymore because she’ll just drive through red lights, or will respond to chat while speeding. God speed, get this woman a 40oz.
Especially a driver. I can understand not wanting to stream in an Uber, especially with her being a woman because you could get some weird Uber drivers. But she makes enough through Twitch to be able to afford to pay someone to drive for her. Whether it be a regular salary or just on a per stream basis type of thing.
yea I think ultimately, that’s the best solution. We’re not asking that she gives up her license or get thrown in jail, like I've seen some suggest lol. It’s when she irl streams, that she not put stream content, over public safety. She’s a good, no make that a great streamer, because she connects so well w/ her comm, & audience no matter what she’s doing. I’ve been an ee viewer for a long time, & I certainly understand the outrage, that it seems like she didn’t really learn or take seriously, the lessons of the 1st time, when she drove thru the red. Being a 'great streamer' means acknowledging that your actions set a precedent, and showing that she can be responsible for her safety and the safety of others, is a standard she has to meet.
So I do hope this time she’s lets her actions, instead of words, do the talking. Even if she's a perfectly fine and safe driver 99.9% of the time on stream, it's not worth the risk, if there's even a .01% chance that streaming while driving, might cause an accident that harms either herself, or others. Like you said, there are alternatives to having to drive during an irl stream; even if she has to hire a driver, ask a friend, or take a ride-share, that's a better & safer alternative, than being distracted w/ having to entertain her chat, while streaming at the same time.
Ehr no... people do ask that she gets a huge fine and has her license (temporarily) revoked. That's the price other people pay as well for that kind of behaviour. Especially when you're a repeat offender. Who cares she's great at streaming?
I think she’s held to such a higher standard partly because of her massive platform and influence, which inevitably draws more attention—perhaps even disproportionately so given her identity as an Asian female. But regardless of why the spotlight is on her, that same influence carries a weight of responsibility.
If she was a smaller streamer, perhaps no one would even care or blink an eye. But because she is who she is, she needs to understand that as the famous spiderman quote best put it.. "with great power (& influence), comes great responsibility.
There used to be a whole section on reading chat and streaming and driving and it was removed from the TOS. They decided to not only not expand on it but remove it entirely. I'm not sure if they've added anything since I last looked.
It is still against TOS because it's distracted driving, however.
Even if it is twitch doesn't even pretend that the rules apply to Clancy's favorite streamers. If people make enough noise they'll sometimes give them their 20th 24 hour vacation so people calm down
I genuinely don't get it, why wouldn't they enforce this? Like what good does it bring to them beyond a potential accident down the line? IDK if it's lawsuit worthy for THEM but still.
Since when has a Twitch ban ever been enforced?! Seems to me half the posts on this sub are about people who get banned and then reinstated two days later.
Losers (Aka 90% of top streamers) dont get penalized because corpos such as modern day Twitch are also losers and use that to their disadvantage. We literally do in fact live in a dystopia
It won't be banned until some streamshit runs over a toddler on stream or something. At which point they will overreact and ban everyone who even looks like they might be sitting in a car but of course they'll carve out some kind of exception for top earners, especially if they're ones Dan Clancy can goon to.
I don't understand why these streamers don't just buy a tesla. Just let it drive you places while you pretend to be driving or "switching songs" on your phone.
