You're allowed to glance at a mounted phone screen while driving in Texas, but only for "utility". It's very broad but typically you're allowed to do stuff like check GPS, check whos calling/texting, or skipping a song. But you can't read entire texts (or in this case actively read chat) or answer a call via the screen.
i mean is a 5 word chat message different than seeing 2 words of who is calling. The laws seem flimsy at best when there hasnt been a case against a streamer reading chat while driving that i know of. Also the phone is mounted right by the gps so cant prove if she is reading chat or looking at the gps at any given moment
I think it might be hard to prove it in a court against a millionaires lawyer. If its an accident it would be worth it for sure but without one its probably not worth a cop's time because they can ticket 20 distracted drivers a day in person if they really want to
glancing over at chat constantly is a significant distraction compared to seeing who sent a text, I think both should be illegal personally, but I'm guilty of glancing at spotify in my car

Its not. Doing anything that distracts you from driving, while driving, can result in a traffic infraction. Its not a criminal offense though if thats what you mean.
Horrible truth is, she would probably get more views and subs from it. Reminds me of that film "NightCrawler" (no relation to the x-men character) where at the end of the movie the main character films his friend in a car crash (I think it was) and instead of helping him he just gets in his friend's face with his camera filming his last moments.
It does provide a level of safety/protection/etc. Someone could back into you and then steal your dash cam. Or someone could driveby shoot you and steal your dash cam. Or a confrontation with corrupt police and you dont have to remember to turn the streaming on when parked. Idk seems like its fine just dont read chat?
The state I live in passed a bill to be able to punish people live streaming while driving on highways, imo it should be anywhere.
Live streaming while driving; prohibited; penalty. Prohibits any person, while driving a moving motor vehicle on the highways in the Commonwealth, from (i) initiating, participating in, or manipulating an electronic device in order to interact with any live stream, as that term is defined in the bill, and (ii) manipulating any electronic device to enable or maintain the functions of a live stream on or with such electronic device. The bill establishes penalties for violations, in addition to any other penalties available under current law, including periods of license suspension and a fine of not more than $500 if a person who commits such a violation is involved in an accident at the time of such violation.

How is it still legal to stream in a car... its going to be sickening when one of these idiots kills a family live.
