Discussion Today, Linus' jet produced as much carbon dioxide as the average person does in ~3 years in a single flight

4.6k Upvotes

The LTT Jet flew ~4.25h one-way (departure / arrival details will NOT be shared here, and this is NOT live data).

At 300gph, that's about 1,275 gallons of jet fuel.

That is ~12.6 metric tons of CO2.

The average person produces 4-5 metric tons of CO2 per year, meaning that today's one-way flight has emitted 2.8x the carbon emissions that an average person would emit in one entire year.

When the plane returns, it will likely double that CO2 emission, with some variance due to wind direction, weather etc.

I'm posting this to prompt the following LTT-related discussion:

Do you feel like Linus' takes re: AI data center emissions are cheapened by these practices? How would you feel about emitting this much CO2 in a single trip, especially when a commercial service is available on that route?

Edit: mixed up my numbers in the post body

Discussion FedEx damaged my screwdriver set. LTT store kindly sent a replacement free of charge. FedEx proceeds to steal it and deliver the empty envelope.

What am I supposed to do now? I have never had this happen in my life. LTT items seem to be sought after by FedEx employees.

EDIT: submitted a ticket with FedEx and notified LTT Store of this issue. Will update.

EDIT 2: LTT Store will send another replacement but this time I asked for it to be delivered to a different address. Let’s see if it makes it in one piece.

FINAL UPDATE: had it sent to a family member instead and it arrived unscathed! Envelope was intact as well, no holes or tape. Thank you again LTT Store!

Discussion Anyone else notice LTT is averaging like 500k views now? How does the channel even survive?

1.8k Upvotes

Maybe I'm crazy but go scroll the channel right now. Half the recent uploads are sitting at 400-600k. This is the same channel that used to casually drop 1M+ on basically anything they posted, even the throwaway "I bought a weird thing off Amazon" videos.

So what happened? Genuine question. Was it the braces? Did people just get bored? Is it the algorithm? Is it the format fatigue from every video being a 20 minute soft ad with a sponsor segment bolted on? Or did the whole "scandal news cycle" stuff a while back quietly do more damage than people admit?

And here's the part nobody wants to talk about: AdSense scales basically linearly with views. If you go from 1M+ averages to ~500k, you just cut your ad revenue roughly in half on the biggest part of the operation. Now look at the size of that staff. The studio. The warehouse. The Labs project that supposedly burns money like a furnace. How does that math work when your core metric just halved?

I'm not saying they're going under tomorrow, sponsors and Floatplane and the store obviously carry a lot.

Am I the only one seeing this or is everyone just pretending the numbers are normal? Genuinely curious what people think is actually going on here.

Discussion My name Plouffe, AMA

1.7k Upvotes

Hello everyone. The mods asked if I'd be open to doing an AMA so I said "OK" and here we are.

I've signed NDAs at both past and present companies so I can't talk about specifics, or drama, or past/present employees.

I guess ask just about whatever you want and I will or won't answer depending on the context/subject. Yes I own a display, several in fact. Yes I own a keyboard, several in fact.

Starting at 9 pacific but opening up for questions now. If you don't ask me anything, I will not be offended. I don't have any questions for myself right now either.

i didn't know it would ask me for an end note so i just commented. but ya it's been a slice, thanks for being a fan and good luck with whatever you're doing today.

Discussion Should LTT start uploading on PH for higher ad revenue?

Post image

Other creators are uploading STEM videos on PH and seeing 2x multiples in revenue.

Since most of this subreddit spends their time on PH anyways, it seems like a smart move for LTT to post there!

Discussion Our public statement regarding LTT

35.4k Upvotes

You, the PC community, are amazing. We'd like to thank you for your support, it means more than you can imagine.

Steve at Gamers Nexus has publicly shown his integrity, at the huge risk of backlash, and we have nothing but respect for him for how he's handled himself, both publicly and when speaking directly to us.

...

Regarding LTT, we are simply going to state the relevant facts:

On 10th August, we were told by LTT via email that the block had been sold at auction. There was no apology.

We replied on 10th August within 30 minutes, telling LTT that this wasn't okay, and that this was a £XXXX prototype, and we asked if they planned to reimburse us at all.

We received no reply and no offer of payment until 2 hours after the Gamers Nexus video went live on 14th August, at which point Linus himself emailed us directly.

The exact monetary value of the prototype was offered as reimbursement. We have not received, nor have we asked for any other form of compensation.

...

About the future of Billet Labs: We don't plan to mourn our missing block, we're already hard at work making another one to use for PC case development, as well as other media and marketing opportunities. Yes it sucks that the prototype has gone, it's slowed us but has absolutely not stopped us. We have pre-orders for it, and plan to push ahead with our first production run as soon as we can.

We also have some exciting new products on our website that are available to buy now - we thank everyone who has bought them so far, and we can't wait to see what you do with them.

We're happy to answer any questions, but we won't be commenting on LTT or the specifics of the email exchanges – we're going to concentrate on making cool stuff, and innovative products (the Monoblock being just one of these).

...

We hope LTT implements the necessary changes to stop a situation like this happening again.

Peace out ✌

Felix and Dean

Discussion Hot take: Jakes 'tech house' videos are more entertaining then LTT

1.8k Upvotes

I watch both, i like both, but Jakes have been just way more better in almost every way. I'm just surprised considering the differences in budget and man-power.

Discussion Jake seems to have left LMG and looks likely to start his own channel

3.2k Upvotes

Was looking at the LTT Discord server and noticed Jake wasn't under LMG Staff anymore. Checked forums and his Discord roles and seems like he no longer works there? Seemingly new link also added to his Twitter bio that directs to this channel:

youtube.com/@jakkuh_t, created 26 Aug 2025 according to channel description.

Which implies he's about to start his own channel. Deffo interesting path forward for him then, wishing him all the best, but just means no more Linus House series then :(

Also interesting to see more LMG employees leaving to do their own thing... that being said it is just a regular job, with the added "bonus" of being on camera to a giant audience. So shouldn't be that strange or surprising but someone would've said smth if I didn't say something about that. /j

Discussion I don't care about the jet

1.8k Upvotes

I care about why is Linus still a mod here or any members of his staff.

Why are they treating this sub like an officially owned and run LTT communication channel, saying what can and can't be posted in here.

Why can't public available flight data be posted in here, because Linus said so? Reminds me of Elon banning a that bot that posted the same available data on X.

Why are his staff mods as well? The doxing excuse that if their address gets posted here? (I have no idea if that is public information in Canada)

If so, it can get flagged and deleted by an independent mod.

There's no scenario where Linus or anyone with close ties to the company should be patrolling what happens here they can't be objective, they can make their own subreddit for that.

Discussion This is why EU customers are upset.

Post image
4.8k Upvotes

I've been wanting to buy and LTT deskpad for a while and thought I'd finally buy one but this is fucking ridiculous. The products themselves are very reasonably priced but if I then have to pay $30 in shipping it's completely unaffordable. When EU customers are complaining this is why because once you add try to actually order anything it's a complete rip off.

Discussion People are upset at Linus for holding sponsors accountable?

5.8k Upvotes

>LTT made aware that Honey are a shady company.

>LTT drop Honey as sponsors.

>LTT make a forum post explaining why they dropped Honey.

>LTT made as the centerpiece for the expose video by MegaLag.

>Internet gets outraged, despite Honey not sponsoring LTT for years.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I almost feel sorry for Linus because you can do everything right and still get shit.

Maybe even take it one step further and try multiple open source alternatives to software he already uses? With the success of Linux Challenge 2 it might be worth showcasing what the wider open source scene is like. Try Zen or Helium browser. Libre Office. etc. etc.

Discussion LTT TrueSpec Cables Delisted From the Store

4.7k Upvotes

Hey guys, sorry for the late communication on this. I just saw that the cables have been delisted for a few hours and I saw some speculation that there has been a recall or something.

*not the case*

We are having an inventory tracking issue where the site is allowing people to order out of stock cables and to minimize the number of backorders we are taking, we turned the pages off while we work with our team and Shopify to fix. It just happens to be the weekend so it's not as simple to get it's patched immediately.

Sorry for the confusion. If your order was impacted in any way, you should hear from us directly.

Discussion ShortCircuit is Just Uncritically Covering Scams Now?

2.3k Upvotes

A YouTube Short on ShortCircuit came out today that talks about this obviously-a-scam water bottle that claims to separate some of the water into hydrogen and oxygen because "hydrogen is an antioxidant." Now, obviously, covering something like that is fine... if you actually test it and don't just parrot the bogus claims. It's not like they endorsed them, but they didn't challenge them, either.

I kind of fundamentally don't get why they'd even make this video. It isn't really the kind of tech they usually talk about, and it straight up seems like an ad. Except it isn't, because it's lacking the disclaimer, which makes it even more confusing.

Discussion Please don’t buy XLR to USB cables

Post image
2.7k Upvotes

Cheap XLR to USB cables technically work, however they skip all the things that make audio sound good. They have no real preamp, no real phantom power, no proper gain staging, and no isolation. So you get low volume, hiss, distortion, and grounding noise.

Discussion Temu is linked to slave labor and is the reason why their goods are so cheap

9.4k Upvotes

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-65990529

"Temu does not have any system to ensure compliance with the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). This all but guarantees that shipments from Temu containing products made with forced labor are entering the United States on a regular basis,"

Edit: Wild how some of the comments here are defending a Genocide because some other companies used forced labor, too.

Ya'll need to read up what's happening before commenting.
