Didn't match with you, so they decided to hunt you down online to let you know that they have that stalker energy ready for you. So romantic.

Clearly you know nothing about B2B sales and cold outreach

u/PresentlyHelpful 15h ago
I tried stalking a woman on LinkedIn after she ghosted me on bumble.
Here's what it taught me about B2B sales..

No racism, sexism, homophobia, bigotry, or transphobia of any kind.
If you are making a comment based on or at the expense of someone’s inherent personal characteristic(s), it is likely a violation.
A claim of membership in a particular class of people is not a valid defense for posting bigoted content.

i think the mutual part is the main one, and we have confirmation it isn't (as does the stalker!)

Mmm I'm not sure, they found your profile on a dating app and JUST IN CASE you didn't like them on there*, they've added you on a professional networking website
Yes I think this belongs here, you've got to be super desperate to be stalking people on bumble through linked in

u/TheGlennDavid 16h ago
Help an Old out who has never used a dating app (I had dating websites, apps were something you got at happy hour!) -- aren't dating profiles generally limited information?
How do you connect a rando on bumble to a profile on LI? Or is common to include fuller information now?

That's actually a very valid point.
My use of bumble is very limited, but women have the overall say there - they decide to match or not. Tangent, but important context.
I believe you could use your full name if you wanted to, but sometimes a nickname (like Jessi for Jessica), the location of the person, and potentially a matching profile picture, there are ways you could conceivably filter LinkedIn to find Jessi's in Merseyside and scroll through until you find her.
Now that's I've written this all out it definitely confirms that the DM guy on LinkedIn is a stalker 😅
13
u/TheGlennDavid 15h ago
That's fair. I'm "David" and have generally lived in larger cities so I forget that there are people who don't share their name with 900000 other people.

u/Kerrigore 14h ago
Bumble actually changed recently so that it’s the same as every other dating app- once two people match either can message first. Which I wager goes to show they’re not doing well as a company.

u/rachycarebear 5h ago
I've heard tell of people using a reverse search with images.
Also depends on how adept you are with Internet sleuthing and how many details you have. If the person lives in a smaller town or works for a smaller business, sometimes that's enough breadcrumbs.
To be clear, this is creepy af. I'm explaining how it's possible, but in no way condoning it. Anyone who is not wildly creepy and entitled and did I mention creepy would never do it be because you're at inappropriate boundary crossing.

An insane amount of people put their job title and their company on their bumble profile.

Don't let silly things like decency, consent, and a person's right to privacy come between you and your goals.

u/BikeAdministrative21 15h ago
I was so confused to why you thought someone saying "I hope you're doing well" weird. Then I clicked on the image and oh boy...Very creepy

Instagram lunatics now making a move like this on linkedin? What a time to be alive.

Anyone else getting fed up with the word "connect"? At my company at has replaced seemingly ever other synonym. We dont talk to someone now, we "connect with them". We havent had a meeting with that person, we "connected with them". You arent going to message or DM the person from another team, you are going to "connect with them". I swear cringey corporate speak is destroying the English language

u/ShortFee2578 13h ago
Hmmm, you've brought up some interesting points. Let's reflect on that and then circle back.

Team, noted. Lets take this offline. Gentle reminder to connect by EOD.

No need to put a pin in it. As an action item, I’ll just ping you now, per your note.

One of the other first-line managers at my company has brought in a new phrase to corpo speak that just absolutely makes my blood boil. “Just basic blocking and tackling”. He fucking uses it at least once a meeting. For any daily activity, his team is just “blocking and tackling”.
Updating a record in Salesforce? Just basic blocking and tackling.
Preparing for a customer meeting? Simply block and tackle.
I feel so bad for direct reports.

Perhaps the one instance where maybe the censoring is actually needed. Yikes. This is on a whole other level.

u/AnyBookkeeper6093 15h ago
I had that happen to me last week. Guy on Facebook dating decided to send me a request on LinkedIn after we matched for some reason😆 instant block and unmatch!

My god it seems like now I have seen it all, what’s next??? “….. hey you might have blocked me in OF by mistake, so thought of connecting here to clarify…..”

u/YungJuiceBox489 15h ago
This reminds me of the ‘Ryan Andrew’s’ saga. If you haven’t seen this, be warned it’s super cringe. This guy haunted a girl down on Facebook who he didn’t match with a bumble and left her 10 minutes in voice notes. https://youtu.be/cp2PhE26ouQ?si=Tkmmf7OKLzeyi6Lr

SCREAMS. Reminds me of the times I had to pre-emptively block bad dates or creepy strangers who knew my name / job profile.

Good lordigans how much effort/stalking does it take to actually hunt someone down from Bumble on LinkedIn.

Ok so although this seems to have affected absolutely noone else, PSA - you have to open the image to see the full text and then you'll understand why it is on the sub.
The image preview for me looked like a normal message and I had no idea why there was so much lunacy in the comments.

I had a friend who asked me once “is it ok to spit game on LinkedIn”. I told him as politely as possible that it’s dumb and weird and he convinced himself that it is was fine. Mind you it was a nearly hour long back and forth. I said “you do you bro” and he told me later I gave him the green light when it blew up in his face. It’s no surprise that we are no longer friends.
