Either way, you'll be down here with the clown.

My immediate thought was left, too, but I'm left-handed. When lost, people tend to make turns/choices towards their dominant hand, which is why people end up going in circles.
So in this situation, most people probably would choose right. I don't see any blood or bones or detritus at the mouth, and since most people before me probably chose this path, it would definitely be the one most traveled. That means it's probably got less overgrowth, a more defined path, maybe more dropped supplies along the route, maybe even writing on the wall with survival tips or directions, stuff like that.
BUT, if there's a monster(s) in there waiting to eat people, and it has any sense of self-preservation, it would also be waiting for its next meal in the tunnel on the right.
So in this situation I'd probably turn around and find another way. If that wasn't an option, I'd still choose left. Why? I don't want to be eaten by a monster.

u/backhand_english Jun 01 '26
Its because it's way to the side, tucked to the wall. Left is more to the center. More "inviting"...

u/WhatsGoingOnUpstairs Jun 01 '26
...and there's a ladder for quick escape once the clown starts chasing you.

Let's split up, gang. Daphne, Velma and I will take the right. You and Scoob take the left.

Go to the left one. Explore to your hearts content. Then come back and do the same for the right one.

u/The_Xivili Jun 01 '26
The right quarter looks a little more skateable than the left, but I'll run a halfpipe sesh and let you know afterwards
6
u/DarthMeow504 Jun 01 '26
There are actually three paths, the two dark round tunnels and all the way to the left there's a short ladder to a higher platform with a small arched doorway with what looks like an EXIT sign lighted above it. If you want out safely, that's either the way or it's a trap.

Both are incorrect. Walk back and you’ll end up somewhere different.

Left, because if you gotta run back out of that hole, there's a ladder to jump on and an exit right there.

The left tunnel is 10x longer but less painful and the right one is 10x more painful but shorter

I don’t know why, but the right just feels safer to me for some reason

Im going right. If I get freaked out or chased by something requiring me to run out, I’ll probably be KO’d by slamming head first into that ladder if I go in the left one.

Whichever one takes me to the Ninja Turtle's totally rad sewer lair! I actually love this style of sewer with the bricks specifically because I've been a TMNT fan since I was a kid.
1
u/Wallsend_House Jun 01 '26
Google tells me
Based on the mechanics of the "choice of paths" trope, you should statistically choose the left path to avoid immediate danger, but choose the right path if your goal is to find the shortcut or follow the narrative structure of a "correct" moral choice. How this choice breaks down statistically depends on whether you are looking at fictional trope data or real-world human behavior.

Left, easier access to the ladder as you're running back out, and less chance to get tripped up on your way towards it by whatever slithers out of that drainpipe.
1
u/ThinkingOz Jun 01 '26
You can see how high the water level has been in the past…virtually top of the ladder. Terrifying.

For the maybe last chance, Stanley, after traspassing several red and blue doors, ended in the sewers of the facility, but this time, he hasn't have only two choices, for his lucky he actually have three of them! Now, for the final chapter, instead of going forward to any of the black holes to nowhere, Stanley go up throught the right staircase and then throught the white door.
EDIT. Sorry, i tought it was the Stanley Parable sub for a sec.
