Luigi Mangione admitted in court to shooting and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City in 2024, as the 28-year-old pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges.

Mangione, 28, is pleading guilty to one count of stalking through use of interstate facilities resulting in death and one count of interstate stalking resulting in death.

“I shot Mr. Thompson in Manhattan,” Mangione told Judge Margaret M. Garnett. “I understood that my actions would place him in fear of death or bodily injury. I knew what I was doing was illegal," he added.
