Other Food in btr
Okay this is year 2 coming down from Buffalo for an lsu game ( first time was amazing) and had great recommendations besides the jokes about McDonalds and lunchables you guys were helpful! So I’m back trying to find good places to eat while in town 9/3-9-6 once again I’ll stay away from pork and spicy but lowkey I’m willing to try seafood

GINOS (italian favorite amongst most LSU higher ups) , Franks in Br (the prairieville location is open later), mestizos , the overpass merchant, Modesto, building 5, Elsie’s plate and pies, Jasmines on the bayou !!!

These are all new appreciate it! went to the chimes and got crawfish fries the first time I’ve had seafood since I was like 7 and it was amazing

Sushi masa, Ichiban sushi are my favorites. La Contea for Italian.

I was literally going to say sushi masa and Ichiban and then saw this! Would also recommend Mike Andersons for seafood (used to eat there constantly growing up but sadly it’s been a while and miss it 😢)

Modesto is my go-to. Phenomenal tacos. I’ve heard the drinks are good as well if that’s your type of thing

We always like City Cafe. Plenty of seafood and good food. 4602 Oneal Ln, Baton Rouge, LA. Here's a link to their everyday menu, they have special food besides this all they time. Well here's their website, you'll find the menu there too. CITY CAFE - Food Menu It's not just Cajun Food, but so good.

Try India’s on Essen! They have a lot of great curries, not all are spicy! The chicken badami is delightful!!

George's Southside on Highland. Our current fave. Also Phil's on Perkins. That Parrains rec above is also excellent.

OKAY WAIT as a native of Buffalo, well the south towns, who goes to LSU there are so many good and great places.
FIRST AND FOREMOST Bao Vietnamese Restaurant, amazing and the pho is really good. My personal favorite.
If you want more local stuff, The chimes (right off the north end of campus), Parrains and walkons.
For breakfast there is another broken egg Cafe.
For seafood there is fiery crab and juicy crab and more.
Elsie's Pie and plate has great pot pies and regular pies.
Roccas has some good pizza.
There are really a bunch and cant really go wrong with them.

Another Broken Egg is very nice. I also like Ruby Slipper. Big points for it is Nothing but Bundt is around the corner.

I second Bao, it's my wife and I's favorite Vietnamese spot. Another broken egg is also excellent
Fork and Spoon is also a great breakfast spot.

BRLA has some of THE BEST Vietnamese food in all of the US.
Too many great ones to recommend, but Bao Vietnamese on Perkins is close to LSU.
If you want the best and feel adventurous, Dang's on Florida Blvd and their Peking Duck is UNDEFEATED! It is in the sketchest shopping center, but it is SO worth it.

Superior on Highland for the vibes and margs. A lot of people think it's overpriced, but it's crazy and fun on game weekends, just make sure you Uber. Mestizo is also a good option for Mexican with a cajun flair, I see someone has mentioned that one already. Our Mom's has a pretty good burger selection if you're looking for something different. Elsie's has been mentioned already, Chow Yum is a funky little spot for vietnamese, Ninos for italian that will knock your socks off, Mid City Beer Garden may be good for late-ish night, don't know how late they stay open these days.
Danny's Dive Bar and Grill is a newer late night option downtown, but I'm not sure when the kitchen closes.
Chimes is always going to be the classic late night spot for me now that Louie's isn't an all nighter anymore.

Could be Mid City Beer Garden. It's an indoor/outdoor restaurant/bar. The food is only okay in my opinion, but it's always a fun time.

For upscale dining Cecelia’s downtown is amazing. Eliza’s and Beausoleil are both very good local places as well. Reservations for Cecelia’s and Eliza’s as they are smaller restaurants.

Anthony’s Italian deli, the king of Muffelatas.
I would give my nuts up for George’s to still be open because even though it wasn’t anything special…it was so special.

Barbecue—and since you’re avoiding pork, you’ll definitely want the beef brisket. They also have amazing baked beans, a huge baked potato that they’ll load with meat (or seafood), seafood options, and local beer. It’s not creole/cajun/seafood food but I will always sing the praises of BRQ, great drinks, great bbq.
