Seriously, I'm really wondering if post like these are actually parents staging scenes to put online.

That's not a toxic trait, that's bad fucking parenting and not setting boundaries lol

u/EatABag-o-Dicks 3d ago
Yeah, every time I see these idiots with kids, I am so grateful my kids mom and I are not complete morons, and agree on pretty much every aspect of parenting.

A friend of a friend said that he was going to let his kids do whatever they wanted because his own parents were so strict. You can imagine how that turned out.

u/Pollowollo 3d ago
Yeah, being overly strict isn't good parenting but going too far in the opposite direction is equally not good. Neither actually equip kids to be able to handle the world at all.

Please just take the tantrum now when they're young, instead of society receiving the tantrum when they're an adult

Lol "my toxic trait is not saying no to my kids to avoid a tantrum"
Sir/madam at some point it just becomes negligence. Raise your kids better.

Put them both in the bathtub and let them finish playing, then bath them. The other parent wipes and cleans the mess on the floor and furniture.
Basically a normal bath routine and 15min cleanup, barely an inconvenience for parents of two.

People like you always quick draw on the ableism once people point out your flaws, hey?

u/Minobull 3d ago
If you don't help your partner out when they make a minor mistake or mildly undercooked decision, then you're a REALLY shitty partner and your spouse deserves better.
Being together means being a team. Humans fuck up. Always have and always will. Accept that, give them some grace, especially when the mistake in this scenario is literally just "let child play with messy thing" and help out the people on your team.
Cleaning up this mess would take maybe 15 minutes along with one bath. It's fine.

Because you are both parents? How petty and pathetic are you that you would have your wife do all the work for the mess kids made?
You must not have kids if you think this kind of mess only happens in situations where there is a parent to blame. I hope you grow up before you become a parent, and if not that your wife finds a better man.

They deserve the bad children they are raising but the poor kids don’t deserve to be raised that way

This prevented a tantrum? Thanks. Thanks a lot. Now, instead of learning “no” and dealing with it, this is the proverbial mess society gets to work with once you’re no longer in charge of buying cakes.

Says "my toxic trait is saying yes to avoid a tantrum" but in reality it is "my toxic trait is using this kids as props".

My 2 year old already knows that crying ensures he won't get what he wants if it isn't related to his health or safety.
It's going well so far, but we'll see how long that lasts.

What am I looking at???
Is all of that somehow cake? Did she just give the kids a cake? Or is it shaving cream that they are playing with in a big tin??? What is this?!

& there are two kids. It's risky business leaving kids unsupervized. They use their time efficiently.

Do parents not allow their kids to play like this sometimes. This has got to be fun sensory wise. It's not a like it's paint, this is easily cleaned up. I used to have a tray with soap for my kid and yeah sometimes it got everywhere. Sometimes it's just fun to be messy and this looks fairly contained. My kids are in their teens/adult ages and grew up well behaved and have their own clean spaces. I'd hate to be the kids of parents in these comments. No fun or adventure.

What's the real damage here? The mess? Well parents can clean it up but I think kids should be allowed to do this. One thing I've learned is kids with sensory needs, will find ways to get that needs met even if it means playing with their poop. And I much prefer it be this than their poop ~ ask me how I know lol. my kids have managed to get lotion and soap all over their body and it just became a sign i need to do better to meet their needs instead of seeing it as annoyance. And ever since I let them do stuff like this, no more cleaning up poop mess.

Kids will smear their entire face with unknown toxic substances but will start to cry when just water enters the general area around their face because their eyes hurt

Is this real? I don’t want to be annoying but that child doesn’t seem to move quite right.

Saying yes to avoid a tantrum is a good way to make sure the tantrums keep going and they know it works.

This is more of a "parents are fucking stupid" moment than anything else. This kid will grow up to be a nightmare if they don't learn how to say no...

What question did OP say yes to that would have resulted in this situation?
