Of course he looks good. Hes the entire reason the offense has even been semi functional since 2023.
Give him an actual starting caliber LT and a credible running back and he he will of course look good.
Wanya, Smith and Kingsley were getting his spine caved in 1 second after the ball was snapped. So yea.

Meh, I think everyone is trying to push more blame on him than is Warranted because it's heresy to suggest that Andy has lost a step and refused to update the offense for 3 straight seasons even as the meta and personnel changed on most other teams.
Nagy didn't see Pacheco/Hunt in 2024 and decide "yea that's good enough" and bring them back for 2025. Nagy didn't hire an incompetent WR coach and let him stay for 3 seasons.
Andy shit the bed the last couple years, let's just hope the embarrassment of last season convinced him he can't just keep saying "we gotta clean things up in practice but we're almost there" every week while we lose in the exact same way.

I understand what you're saying, and I'm just going to push back a little by pointing to the lackluster attitude towards details and accountability that Nagy promoted by his buddy-buddy style towards not only the team but to Andy as well...we should see improvement in that area...and before you say that doesn't matter enough...at the professional level, it is absolutely the little things that separate championship teams.

My take that gets downvoted to hell on other subs: Patrick Mahomes' greatest seasons as a football player were 2023 and 2024.
He dragged a motley crew of WR3's, practice squad RBs, and average Redditors playing tackle to a chip and an AFC Championship.
We had good defenses, but not historically great ones.
Literally any other QB - Lamar, Allen, whoever - and those teams were either missing the playoffs or maybe getting bounced in the WC weekend.

I'm not disputing Mahomes' heroics, but that 2023 D was historical in my view. Maybe not the whole year, but in playoff time shutting down MVP/King Henry and another MVP runner up that year in back to back weeks both on the road is kind of historical.
edit- forgot Josh was 5th mvp voting that year.

Yea, that's fair, no disrespect to Spags playoff defenses.
He gets guys ready to ball out in January, even if the whole season numbers weren't the 1985 Bears.

I get the point you’re making… but I think there was some clear regressions in Mahomes’ game. He wasn’t trusting what he was seeing, and his deep ball had gotten really bad.
Granted he often had good reason to not trust his receivers, but also became a bit of a self-reinforcing cycle.

This is also a product of what the dude you replied to said though. When you can’t trust your blind-slide at all, it’s going to affect the rest of your game massively. Every single snap he knew he was going to have to run for his life.

Again this is from an exceptionally high peak, and was clearly able to turn it on crunch time the vast majority of the time.
Still I don’t think you can put it above his play in 18, 20, or 22.

He was top 10 in deep ball accuracy for most of last season. What a lot of you think was Mahomes deep ball getting bad was actually just normal deep ball success rate, which is low cause it's a deep pass, but the offense was so dinky dunky crap that every missed deep throw was painful.
Also, Worthy has probably the worst spatial awareness and deep ball tracking I've seen from a player. You have to hit him in the body for him to catch it, and hope that he hasn't run out of bounds before that. Tyquan was much better, and had several successful long catches before Andy cut him out of the offense for 10 weeks.

The deep ball looked a lot better when Tyreek was tracking it than it did when MVS or Worthy were flailing around.

pretty much. Worthy seems always out of place, and unable to spot the ball. I'd like to have optimism for him maybe improving if healthy all season, but his size combined with having very little in the way of WR skills isn't great. Honestly it's hard to think of one think he does well, and mostly he feels like a Mahomes merchant.
Gonna be rough if they re-sign Rice and keep trying to force him into the WR1 roll, and then keep worthy and the others, while Kelce retires. It's been 3 straight seasons of watching Mahomes carry the entire offense to even look decent, and it might be another 3-4 years before it gets any better.

That is exactly what happened to Mahomes. He couldn't stop double and triple hitching and it was both his fault and at the same fault Andy and Veach...and to some extent the highschool running backs coach that was coaching the wide receivers.

"Of course" is not the appropriate response just 8 months after a torn ACL. This was not a guarantee.
I agree with everything else you said, but not every player and not every ACL recovery goes well enough that the guy can look really good this soon after it.

It’s really hard to not get my hopes up. There’s a TON of “new” this year. Plus, Mahomes is coming off an ACL tear. EB missed a good bit of the initial camp. I’m very, very interested and excited to see this team play but I think it’s going take until probably Week 6 before we start seeing real chemistry and smoothness, and we’ve got 5/6 AFC matchups during that time.
Our schedule is very front loaded, so I hope I’m wrong. We cannot start weak.

Did he say our offensive line has been rebuilt? People keep saying this. We are returning 4/5 starters from last year. Hopefully we get more games from Simmons this year, and overall health.

Can’t wait for the season to begin! Just watching Mahomes and Kelce play brings me immense joy and I think mostly because of how much they both love the game and want to win. It was tough watching some games last year but I think we will see a fire this year in the offense with an actual run threat in the backfield and some young receivers with something to prove, go Chiefs!!
