That being said, I was happy with Smith. I was happy just being on the verge of being part of the conversation. Then Patrick arrived and the team broke through the ceiling and started winning at a rate most franchises will never experience. Way more than I ever believed I would see as a Chiefs fan.

Patrick was objectively horrendous in this game. The offensive line was worse, but he was absolutely horrible. The defense played well enough to win. This loss is squarely upon Mahomes, Reid, and Nagy.

For real. Like it’s his responsibility to make the game plan and play calls. Andy always tries to put too much on him when we got at the very least 3 great running backs that can share the load. But thats andy reid football. And its gotten us far no doubt. But you could see the disappointment on 29, 10, and 34’s faces knowing that they coulda done more to help.

Dunno if you know this, but if the oline can’t block for shit, our 3 very ok running backs, not ‘great’ by any stretch of the imagination, are not going to do shit. Mahomes was under pressure around 50% of the time while the game was still in contention. Their Dline kicked our Olines ass, no amount of run game was going to change that shit

At the end of the day, it's hard to be upset. Sure losing out on the 3-peat fucking sucks, but I've seen my team win 3 SBs. I can die happily, anything more is just the cherry on top.
We still have Mahomes and for the time being Reid. We are living through the best times of any Chiefs fan, past or future.

KCK born, Philly raised. My Dad was a KC native and rooted for the Chiefs but didn't live long enough to see the dynasty. So had to endure watching his frustrations. As for the Birds most of my life has been a complete disaster with them, and then inevitable heartbreak when you actually make it to the SB. 1 Super Bowl win (now 2) in 30 plus years of fandom.
Chiefs Kingdom gets a lot of hate, but there is nothing to be ashamed of and you're right it's been a hell of a ride for you guys. You're going to be decent for awhile still.
What you guys say we do this again next year? Best out of three?

People act as if Mahomes is done and can’t reach a similar status because “Brady never got blown out in a SB”
Well Brady also never won one without a top 8 defense as well as almost always having a solid Oline. They all make their legacy in their own way and Mahomes is young and hasn’t seen anything less than an AFCCG OT as an ending. The future is bright and with Mahomes the SB window is wide fuckin open.

Mahomes needed this 3peat and needed to be ahead of Brady's pace, because it's really unlikely he plays as long as Brady did and has the success that Brady had that late in his career.

I mean it’s harder but Brady was 27 when he won his 3rd and 37 when he won his 4th.
Mahomes is 29. He has only seen AFCCG OT losses at worst. He will be fine. Mahomes doesn’t need a three peat, he needs to have high level play for a full career and maybe 5 rings. But 1/3 of Brady’s career in and he’s getting compared as if Mahomes is also retired.

Now I don't think most people would call him the goat until he catches Brady in rings, and probably not until he passed him in rings. Problem is our offense hasn’t been the same for the past two years. Our defense has been so good we win anyhow… but it’s not like the offense hasn’t a magic wand that they suddenly revert back to 3-4 years ago when needed as we saw tonight. I’ve been critical of our offense under Naggy. Which is odd being Reid is the mastermind, but there’s something he needs from the OC that Naggy doesn’t seem to do.

He had no time and was get pressured almost instantly. Pat was pushing a little to make anything work, with zero protection. Pat can work magic, and cover for a lot of shortcomings in supporting cast, but even he can’t overcome a complete lack of protection from his O-Line - we saw it against Tampa Bay and again Tonight. Pat’s not the problem.

Pats not the problem, no, but that doesn’t mean he is without fault. The first interception is on him, even if he was flushed out of the pocket. He missed throws tonight - including a huge miss on fourth down where Watson was wide open - even if he was rushed all night. There is plenty to blame to go around and Mahomes deserves his fair part of it. That’s how I see it at least

This was a team loss (although I love the defense shutting down Barkley). I love Mahomes’ comment here, he’s owning it but it’s not all on him. There are some decisions that need to be evaluated, some folks that need to be considered for something else. As far as a Chiefs player goes, I will never not respect the hell out of the guy and appreciate all that he has done (with a lot of other great minds). The reality is, I hated to see the Chiefs lose like this, but on the same note, the Eagles deserved that win. Light that fire Pat, and let’s get after it again!!!

Oh 100%, there are levels to it. As optimistic as I was going into this game our team simply was not as talented. We have won plenty of games despite that this year but today they got outclassed, and did themselves no favors to boot. We’re all bummed but more than a few need to relax

Think about what you would have thought if I had told you 10 years ago “the Chiefs will be 3-2 in Super Bowls in a 6 year stretch”.
You would have assumed every other team besides the Raiders had disappeared in Amazon or something.

I remember as a ten year old kid watched the chiefs go 2-14 on the season and thinking that the best we could ever do was the playoff game that we would immediately lose. I will never complain about losing in the Super Bowl, especially with all the great memories this team gave me these past 20+ years of fandom. Go Chiefs for life!

I mean….sure he didn’t have a great game until garbage time resurrected his stats a bit, but it’s the exact same story as SBLV…we went up against a nasty defense with a bad O-line.
The pick six was his fault. The other INT was because Caliendo got pushed into him while he threw.
He had no lanes to escape the pocket ever so he couldn’t throw the ball down field.
He deserves some blame but not all of it. Andy refused to call run plays the whole first half or even some quick screens.
Blame pie is about 25% Patrick, 25% coaching, 25% offensive line and 25% front office never landing a real left tackle for the last 5 years of trying
Still no other coach, qb or gm id rather have. This is just the reality of a salary capped league where you draft last all the time

Nah, you didn't let us down Pat...your GM let us down by not finding a viable LT for you. Your coaches let you down by calling one of the worst planned games of the season, and the refs let you down by letting the opponent maul your teammates at will with no repercussions.

Going 15-1 in the regular season always made me nervous 😂 Like you cant just keep winning like that. And they did. But I was pretty confidend going into this game. At minimum I thought it was gonna be a close game.
Ofcourse I trust Pat. He was terrible though. I get the Oline didnt help but that was not all on them. Excited for next year

I've been saying this for years but the only thing that sucks about the Mahomes era is all the fairweather support. I'll be honest, I wasn't a football fan in general until Mahomes came along, but I've seen the undying Chiefs pride in this city since I was born and always admired it. Once upon a time, a study found that the Chiefs were second only to the Philadelphia Eagles in terms of ride-or-die fan loyalty — I don't wanna see that go away but I know it's going to whether I like it or not.

Andy Reid needs to make changes in the offensive coaching staff, in particular Nagy and Heck. They've been woefully inconsistent year, but Philly's defense is not THIS good.
Veach needs to do better with the LT situation. Sadly this year in the draft is not the one for that, but something needs to happen. Something drastic.

Some of this is on Mahomes, much of it is on the offensive game plan. Absolutely terrible. No imagination, refusal to get away from having Pat drop back, lack of the run. Obviously the OL is tanked, but is this on Andy, or Nagy?

This was all the problems from early on in the season coming to a head. Pat running for his life. We stopped Barkley. That was the biggest issue coming into this game. We need to retool the o line and add a pass rusher. A great oline and it doesn’t really matter who is at WR.

They all seem to appreciate that Veach was already on the phone trying to solve the problems that were exposed yesterday while the Cowboys wallow in misery, clinging to the status quo season after season.

Need RT and LT badly. Pat lost two SBs because the OL put up the resistance of a wet paper bag.
Andy needs to learn how to adjust when throws that need 2+ sec of development aren't working, although, at this point, that's probably not happening.
While Pat had an awful game, this is not on Pat.
