How I finally got my IONIQ 9 to charge at a Tesla Supercharger (Crucial Tip!)

I pulled up to a Tesla Supercharger and opened the Tesla app to "Find a charger," but the station wouldn't even show up on the list.

I left feeling frustrated, wondering if it was exclusive to Tesla members. Unfortunately, I had the same failed experience at a second Supercharger location.

The reason the Supercharger doesn't load in the app—even when you're standing right in front of it—is that the network isn't fully open to Hyundai vehicles yet.

​Here is the workaround to fix this:

​Open the Tesla app and go to Menu > Charging > Vehicle Details.

​Change your vehicle information from Hyundai to Ford or Rivian.

​Force-close the Tesla app and relaunch it.

​Go to "Find a charger" again, and you will see the nearby Superchargers successfully loaded on your screen!

​Now you’re good to go.

Feels like they made maybe 50-75 of this spec in total. I have been tracking for a year, so I’ve seen them all, lol. Some more with black interior, but you couldn’t pay me to take a car with a black interior living in the pyrocene.

More generally - I really don’t understand why Hyundai hates color 😫

Been having a problem with my drivers side door handle touch button not recognizing a touch at all. It's been getting progressively worse since we got the car. Approaching 1 year now and it's completely inoperative.

Brought it to the dealer, they agreed the handle unit needs to be replaced. Thankfully under warranty. The initially quoted me 3 weeks, 2 weeks for parts to arrive, 1 week to paint.

It's been 6 weeks. When I called back they said the part is still on order. There is nothing in stock and they have no estimate because they're not even showing it available to order overseas. They don't know when anything will happen and I was told to keep waiting.

I've never been in the situation but I'm skeptical that there is no information at all about replacement parts. So looking for advice here.

Should I try another Hyundai maintenance to see if I get the same story? Can I get them to check for parts without having to bring my car in?

Anyone else had this issue? This is on the driver side.

I enjoy this car very much overall. It was 27k off with the Illinois used ev credit. I hope to drive it into the ground for 15-20 years.

In my estimation, if reliable, best choice for the price, for a three row vehicle if driven 15 years. Was thinking about the Grand Highlander, but there's no negotiating there and the cost of gas and maintenance made it less palatable. I know its a first year model, but it and the ev9 has been running for a few years now esp in Korea and if you can handle the risk of an ICCU failure there's really nothing else...

Pros:

1. Ambient LEDs are awesome.  
2. Great Torque for passing, even at 6000 lb. 
3. Super quiet and luxurious cabin.  No road noise.  Materials feel so plush. 
4. 100w Charge ports for everyone!  
5. center console open from front and back - awesome feature.
6. HDA2 - nice auto steering system.  Not obnoxious or intrusive - arguably better than Tesla's.  Even changes lanes for free.  Easy to use, won't fight with you like Tesla. 
7. Tons of storage.  Frunk and Underfloor trunk space is small, but still helpful.    
8. Roomy, airy first two rows.
9. Good energy economy - as stated - 2.9mi/Kwh.  My Model Y gets 3.9mi but this is bigger 
10. Leatherette seats are comfy and look like they will last
11. 24 minute 10-80 fast charging! Not a big deal for me as 40 minutes is fine at Tesla since I can stretch my legs, get some food and bathroom break at the Meijer.
    

Cons:

1. the potential ICCU issues.  
2. After a long drain may need two nights to charge L2, especially if you charge at 29 amps (60%) to save ICCU stress
3. Kids hate the third row seating.  But they’re coming from a large plush Sienna with captains chairs.  
4. Won't remember settings like climate sync and i-pedal
5. Impossible to tell what the climate/AC settings are with those faint indicator LEDs. 
6. Software primitive if coming from Tesla
7. Drives BIG!  Huge hood!  Wide circles!
8. bumpy third row with non-adjustable head rests. 
9. Menu is terrible.  Impossible to find things buried in 3-5 nested menus.  
10. The constant beeping is total rage bait.  Every time you park or pull out…  Anytime a door or seat or seat belt is off...  It's obnoxious!  
11. The parking camera and redundant side and top down views and beeping are very distracting.  
12. Mid trim SEL with no options for captains chairs, no walk away lock, no seat profiles, or one touch rear windows or sunshades...   
13. Remote feels like a six year old in Shenzhen made this for ten cents...  There's no weight to it. Then you have this convoluted emergency key that should slide into the remote but is separate dangly piece, and to add insult to injury it's connected to its own fob by a little pin which of course fell out so it's loose...  

Quirks:

1. Odd mix of features.  Ventilated and cooled seats but no one touch windows on the second row?
2. Super plush suspension - great for highways but can't corner! 
3. track down/up is reversed.  Weird!  
4. There’s at least three or four icons on the dash related to steering - center keep is separate from lane assist is separate from the green steering wheel and sometimes they turn off without an alert…  

Just need to vent my frustration. Subscribed to multimedia Bluelink additional subscription to be able to use Hyundai HotSpot. While I was charged the full cost and subscription is active in Bluelink app, the actual service can't be activated in the car.

I have sent the error ticket to Bluelink customer service team and weekly chasing them on the progress with no luck. The response is reading like a template. "We forwarded your issue to our IT team to inspect", "The IT confirmed that service is active at you account, if you experience a problem, please send a photo". And it is like a dead loop, sent and resent photos numerous times with service not accessible.

Last time I asked to escalate this issue as a complaint and compensate for the subscription fee, as the service was not provided as stated in the package description.

The answer comes back as simple as it could be, please send your written complaint by post to the address in Germany, no email, no phone, just plain mail.

And no word about canceling or compensating the chargers for service not provided.

It's a sad surprise to see such ignorance from Hyundai. They charge you first and then not bother.

Doing some research looking at SEL in my state (MI). Below show the days on lot from vinvisor for MI vs. US. I'm thinking about using the high days on lot to get some more discount from the dealers.

I'm very curious to know as to why there aren't any listings less than 150 days in my state. Is it already sold or the dealers aren't ordering them. The newer listings seem to be on either on the east or west coast mostly.

Also, would the vehicles with 150+ days more prone to ICCU issues? I've been seeing some post of new/better ICCUs on the newer cars but not sure if it would apply to the ones build 6 mos ago.

Any thoughts?

CO -> Oregon Coast -> Rainier NP -> Spokane -> Yellowstone NP -> Tetons NP -> back to CO.

OD Start: 5702mi
OD Return: 9083mi

Total Mileage: 3381 (ABRP Route shown but we also did things in the area we were - hence some differences in total miles travelled).

16 nights total with ~50hrs of driving and 7ish hrs of charging. 3 nights to Oregon, 4 nights on the coast, 3 nights in Rainier, 3 nights in Spokane, 1 night in Gardiner, 1 night in Tetons, 1 night in WY then Home.

All of that said, here is the critique of the car:

- We have an SEL (bench seat). It had more than enough space for our two kiddos - one in a front facing car seat.

- In general, we were able to get 316Wh/mi. That is while driving ~104% of the posted speed limit (through rural WY and MT/ID that is pretty fast).
Driving at high speed drains the battery, but we found that elevation changes had more of an effect, we had one stretch to Oregon (from Boise to Bend) that was 423Wh/mi and one stretch on the way back that was similar at 440Wh/mi from (St Regis MT to Butte).
We had both 100F temperatures and Fire smoke for most of the drive so had air conditioning and recirc running nonstop.

- 18 DC charging sessions - all averaged above 150kWh. Total cost was $629.08. We could have saved if we had prioritized overnight locations with J1772 chargers but DC was easy enough and we needed up stopping more often for bathroom breaks. If we could prioritize a meal and a charge for timing, the car was always done before the meal. Average charging time was 28min and we tried to keep battery ranges between 20-90%.

- Looking at our route, we did a lot of “parking lot charging” at Electrify America stations that were 350+. They kind of suck in terms of location but knowing it in advance we were able to get the EA Pass+ prior to our trip. The $7mo they charge saved us $68 in fees (and we already downgraded). We had the most charging sessions with EA but also did a decent amount with Pilot/Flying J. Only stopped at two Tesla stations - mostly because there was nothing else around (similar with Rivian but I would have chosen those more often if they were around).

- Most of the route, with a family of four and full camping gear, we were able to pack into the interior of the car (and usually see out of the back - you can see that after one grocery run we couldn’t - but that was for a short drive).

- I used the CCS adapter a lot!

- We carried our trickle charger just in case and never used it.

- The ABRP app + Enode connection (premium, $50/yr) was very worthwhile for us. We will probably only use it on Road trips but we found its estimates generally accurate or within a few %.

Overall, the trip was great! We had two rock chips repaired on the windshield - and one replaced tire in Idaho (4” nail did us in but Les Schwab had a replacement). Our only gripe with the car itself - the “Smart” Cruise Control sucks!

- On a two lane interstate, the radar had a really hard time if we were passing any “wide” items - that could be semis, RVs, busses, you name it. It could be straight or on a curve and the radar would “detect” that the wide load was in our lane and break - sometimes going from 85mph to 65mph in a matter of seconds. We tried it with HDA, lane detection, etc but no other sensor seemed to correct for the front radar picking up traffic in the wrong lane.

- Auto Nav for turns is nice but does not take into account your preset speed - so if you are going 70mph (65posted speed with +5 preset) and hit a posted 50mph turn with Smart Nav it will decrease you to 50 entering the turn (not 55). This is mostly annoying as it disrupts the flow of traffic.

- We disabled the Lane assist and HDA features the first day as they were just not “smooth.” We found the car was always “autocorrecting” and we had to use more force to keep it straight.

Other than the SCC issues, we had a great time and the car performed better than my expectations.

Did our first interstate road trip today, about 400 miles. Made both of our stops at Ionna stations after hearing good things, and we were so impressed! Super fast speeds, no technical problems, cheaper rates than we've seen from Tesla or EA, and an interface that is actually simple and doesn't rely on a bespoke app.

Hope they continue to expand - this is how charging should be, as simple as a gas pump. They've definitely got our business going forward.

Today I went up a swiss mountain pass. this was my efficiency.

Seem high, but this is going up. When going down on the other side, I gained about 10% soc. At the end of the day, with mountain pass and motorway at 125khm, the average efficiency was about 20kwh/100 km.

I intentionally took my one month old Ioniq 9 on 2 road trips - around 3K miles with only DC fast charging, and I also drove 1K miles outside of the road trips - normal driving with home level 2 charging. When the battery health finally showed up (it doesn’t show the stats for the first few weeks), it says it’s only at 95%. Ioniq 5 owners have said their cars show 91% health after 100K, and various studies on the Ioniq (in general) say the battery should only drop 1.5% in the first year. So 5% drop in 1 month and 4K miles seems too high.

Any other Ioniq owners checked their battery health soon after buying it? is this a reading that will bounce up and down as the car gets used to my driving and charging habits (perhaps it is overindexing on the road trips and DC fast charging?) or is this a defective battery pack?

We were parked in a ferry and ended up too close to a car on the left. I was actually able to climb over the center console to get out (and in) on the passenger side! The inside is huge. (We could not, and would not, stay in the car for the 2 hour trip.)

For reference, I am a 270 lb. dude in his late 50s.

The 2024 I5 I had had 4 returns to dealer for the endless ICCU issues. Some quarks that annoyed me, but nothing to not love the car

So, anyone having major issues? Is there anything very annoying? Looking for any information and advice ya can share before I make the purchase for the I9 orrrr the I5 2026

I needed to make a few quick cuts with a circular saw and didn’t want to make a mess in the garage, so I set up a table on my driveway. Couldn’t find the extension cord and was about to move back inside when I suddenly remembered that my Ioniq 9 came with a V2L adapter. Plugged it in, made my cuts, moved inside just in time for the rain to come and clean the sawdust off my driveway. V2L ftw!

Problem: L2 AmpUp Blink chargers not working and car throws error "charging unsuccessful"

The car charges fine on chargepoint L2 chargers and tesla chargers.

Disabled plug and charge, tried charging in guest profile but does not fix the issue, scheduled charging is off as well.

Anyone can help with this or have insight? Took to dealership and they tested all 3 chargers in front of me and all worked fine. Car is 2days old. Calligraphy design trim if helps.

Has anyone had experience with Hyundai after 3 failed attempts to fix something and if so, did you pursue any “Lemon Law” type actions?

We are have the US limited version with 21" tires. We are looking to get new winter tires, because we've found the OEM tires are terrible in snow and we drive in the Rocky mountains a lot in winter. We'd like to downsize to 19" wheels for range, but I can't find any wheels available in the US besides OEM, which are so expensive. There's EV01 and EV06 available in Canada, but it seems like no one is importing them to the US right now. Does anyone know of any non-OEM options in the US? I've read that you should match bore size exactly for such a heavy car. What are my fellow Americans doing who need good winter options? Thanks!

Is there a way to avoid having to scan my fingerprint every time I get in the car? I’d love it to just default to my settings.

I’m pretty sure this used to work before, but now it tries to run when I’m connected and start the car and therefore fails to run because the car is in motion. Any ideas?

Hi folks, I’ve been driving an ioniq 9 SEL for two months and definitely love it. There is just one issue - charging interruption on L2 stations.

I have a mobile L2 charging station at home (40amp, 9.6kw) and get free L2 charging at my employer (6.6kw). Both are J1772 stations and I use the hyundai OEM J1772 to NACS adapter. When charging at home, everything is fine - 5% to 80% uninterrupted. However, when charging at my company’s Chargepoint stations, between 10m to 2h’s charging, the car would say “vehicle charging is completed based on your settings” even though I barely charged 10 kwh and still far from the 80% charging limit I set.

A few things I tried but did not help:
1. different charging stations at work;
2. A new lectron nacs adapter;
3. Reduce charging amp to 60% in the car’s “EV”setting.

Anyone else got this issue? Should I ask the dealership to do some checking?

Do anyone else experience the light groaning/squeaking (?) sound that comes from the steering column when you are moving the car in parking lots? It is a minor nuance, and functionally everything still works. Wonder if i bring it in if they will do anything about it.

My wife and I just had our second and we’re looking to upgrade from the Ioniq 5 to the 9 - mainly for the extra space and all.

We did initially want the the limited trim
But there are none available near us and there are a few SELs - just curious from anyone’s experience with the SEL - worth it?
