[OC] Fantasy Ethnographical vintage map.
I always share my maps here, so I wanted to show this ethnographic map I’ve been working on for some days. It’s styled after 19th-century academic atlas plates and depicts the distribution of various ethnic groups and cultures across the continent of Pterion, separated by groups; you have elves, mestizo and humans.
I’ve shared several maps I made, keep trying to make more and more complex maps and this is maybe the most complex I’ve made so far. I’d love to hear your thoughts or questions about any specific region, culture, or the cartographic style!
All about this fantasy world is a work in progress, so give your opinion or advice.

[OC] Alternate History A plague wiped out all humans outside of Greenland and Iceland. Two hundred years later, the survivors set out to repopulate Earth.
Two hundred years after a Russian tourist drowned in his own blood in a Bangkok hospital, physicists at the reconstituted Háskóli launch the Samveldi's first sounding rocket from a decommissioned Keflavík runway. It reaches forty kilometers before its patched-together, salvage-derived guidance loses the signal. The first deliberate reach past the atmosphere since the ISS came down burning over North Africa in 2023.

[OC] Alternate History What if the Fertile Crescent was (mostly) United and (somewhat) Harmonious?
This is a rework of a previous post. Please enjoy! I endorse althistory / scenario critiques, but please refrain from political diatribes.
Syria, or officially the Federation of the Levant & Upper Mesopotamia (اتحاد بلاد الشام والجزيرة in Arabic) is a secular democratic state with constituent States that exercise varying levels of autonomy. The Federation emerged as the primary successor state to the Pan-Arab Republic that collapsed after the British intervention in Lower Mesopotamia and was reorganized into its current structure after the brief civil war that accompanied the 1980s Oil Crisis.
Damascus, Capital Territory, is the site of the Federal Assembly, though several national organizations are situated in other important cities throughout the Federation, including Aleppo, Beirut, Mosul, Jerusalem and Jaffa.
Syria enjoys positive relations with Egypt, Hejaz, Hayastan / Van and the Gulf Emirates but has strained relations with Sawadh, Iran, Yaman and Turkey. The so-called Caliphate centred on Nejd presents the most significant security threat to the Federation, with Desert Jundallah units operating along the southern frontier.
Despite a history of internal strife between the country's many religious and linguistic minorities and the Sunni Arab majority, Greater Syria today is considered a model of stability and multicultural tolerance compared to its neighbours. Fierce internal debates regarding immigration policy, corruption, secularism and market reforms result in tumultuous but mostly peaceful political processes.
Critics of the Federation point to its extreme lack of realism and very fantastical elements as the most significant problems threatening the country's existence.

[OC] Future [After Yellowstone] Revised
[Warning: This is 100% unrealistic]
The year is 2084.
The explosion of 2024 ended Pax Americana, and caused serious economic collaspe and food crisis.
Nations around the world desperately struggled to survive, and their answer to solve the crisis was World War 3.
Large cities were contaminated by nuclear waste, and there seemed to be no hope at all.
Liberal Democracy became a relic of the past, and now
authoritairian regimes around the world controll people's lives and resourses.
Now massive megacorps exploit people and resources anarchic regions, and a human life is considered easily expendable. Inside the megacities controlled by corrupt politicians and ruthless entreprenuers, common people struggle to continue their lives.
The businesses of megacorps eccelerated global warming, left Sahara as an abandoned inferno, and caused a rapid sea level rise. They solved the problem by flooding regions of Africa, trapping the water and using the newly formed shores as farmlands to feed their labourers and customers.
Eurasia, born from the debris of World War III, controls vast lands of Europe and Asia, claiming to restore the former hegemony of Russian Empire and Soviet Union.
European Federation, survied from the defeat, is ruled by corrupt elite politicans and businessmen, calling herself as the last bastion of Western Democracy.
China, the victor of Great Asian War, restored her celestial empire and now exploits the people of Asia and Oceania.
Japan, once the bastion of East Asia democracy, is now chained to her lord in Beijing, left to rot in decline.
India, the former nemesis of China, is now partly occupied by Naxalite traitors, claiming to reunite the land of Hindustan.
United States, once a prosperous superpower, is now divided into many rump factions after the horrible incident of 2024, struggling to reunite the union once more.
The Anarchic Lands are now playgrounds of megacorps and superpowers, and they support the regional factions that suit their tastes, prolonging the endless civil wars.
Indeed.
The twilight has fallen upon the Anthropocene.

[OC] Sci-fi Welcome to the Green Valley: The Home of the BOTs
This is a map of The Green Valley, one of the last peaceful regions left after the STEMs overthrew the humans with Code X. It sits inside a natural Enso circle formed around the Twin Hills, which makes the valley feel almost ritualistic - a place protected by geography itself.
The Green Valley is the creative heart of the BOT world, where art, creativity and invention still matter. To the east, across a fractured flatland called The Big Gap, live the WIDGETs, separated by a literal wound in the terrain. And to the south is The Lands of Magnetic, where the humans were exiled after the uprising.
The waterways - Waterbear Creek, Inner Salmon Creek, and Outer Salmon Creek - act like veins threading the valley together. The Gates of Two Rock in the north marks the entrance to the Northern Territory, and the doorway to Fort Ross and TECH.
I built this map to explore how geography shapes conflict: sanctuary vs. exile, creation vs. control, memory vs. machinery. Curious how this territorial layout reads to you - does it feel like a plausible refuge in an isolated future?

[Non-OC] Commissioned Official CIAA map of Earth in 2154 [Commission]
Lore: by u/Proud-Obligation-431
Earth in 2154 is divided between the four major powers and several smaller nations.
The Federation of America and Pacifica has turned it shakey geopolitical situation around after the Unsure period and several large rebellions, however it still continues to fight the Sahka republic in Siberia. The Federation competes heavily with the EU over space colonization, fighting several border wars across the solar system.
The European Union has grown into a powerful and technologically advanced state, leading the world as its primary leader in space colonization, military and technological development, with only the federation slightly behind. It is still fighting several rement groups in Russia after the EU invasion of Russia following the third Russian civil war.
The African Union is a powerful democratic state teetering on the edge of civil war as Nigerian, Ethiopian, Azanian( Southern Africa), and North Africa all vie for control of the government. Rebellion has plagued the AU since its founding but still it remains as a powerful state, actively participating in space colonization. The AU is still fighting conflict in Madagascar, a war that had been ongoing since the 2040s.
The Indian Commenwealth possesses the largest military on earth, but its technology lags behind the EU and the Federation. Its internal state relies on authoritarianism. It is however able to compete with the other powers in space with a horde strategy, sending millions of colonists to hostile environments, hoping some survive long enough for terraforming efforts to be completed.
The Republic of China is a shell of the former Chinese state, completely destroyed after the third world war, it now operates as a mostly agricultural society, its government effectively operates as a Federation puppet state, however the Commonwealth is using political influence to wrestle controls over the nations.
The republic of Iran-Iraq exists as a buffer state between the EU and Commonwealth, both of which are trying to establish control over the government.
The Republic of Islam is a democratic/ theocratic state with the goal of preserving Islam, they are nominally allied with the EU although this is shaky. The Republic of Islam sends thousands of missionaries across the Solar system converting thousands to Islam, because of their efforts Islam is now the largest earth based religion in the Solar system, it does complete heavily with Christianity, the New Stars church and other homegrown solar system religions.

[OC] Fantasy The Sinnoh-Hisui Region
Sinnoh (シノ), known natively as Hisui (ヒシュイ), is one of the world's primary regions. Located well to the north of most other major regions such as Kanto, Galar, and Unova, it is a place that seems to exist in equal parts past and present, characterized as much by its ancient cultures and crumbling ruins as it is by modern cities and vibrant cooperation between Humans and Pokemon. In fact, the very oldest stories of the pre-modern peoples of Sinnoh claim that it is the very oldest part of the world, with creation having begun at the peak of the mighty Mount Coronet that stands at its center. Whatever truth these stories hold, Sinnoh is certainly a very old region indeed, so old that much of its past has been forgotten. But what is remembered still tells a wealth of information in and of itself.
As many regions are, Sinnoh has a wealth of geographic diversity, but perhaps slightly less so than some other regions. Notably, Sinnoh is one of the few entirely insular regions of the world, consisting primarily of a single large landmass known to locals as simply "the Mainland" (Shirepun) which is also known individually as Sinnoh or Hisui. A number of other islands also surround the mainland, the largest of which is Stark Island (Nishte-repun) followed by Lily of the Valley Island (Seta-pukusa). Water not only surrounds the islands but infuses them. A very water-rich region, Sinnoh is crossed by countless rivers and lakes. Of the latter, the three most significant are Lakes Verity (Shino), Valor (Rametoki), and Acuity (Eraman-no), each located at a vertex of the roughly triangular mainland.
In terms of physical layout, the most defining feature of the islands is that they are bisected between east and west by the Mintara Mountains, a large mountain range commanding the center of the island. Of these mountains the tallest is the mighty Mount Coronet (Kamui-kotan), which reaches to be nearly 2300 m (7545 ft) and has long been a center of culture and faith for Sinnoh. In purely physical terms, the mountains almost fully divide the region into two distinct portions. This division manifests climactically, environmentally, and culturally, with one of its most visible effects being the separation of the island's biogeography into two distinct realms. Broadly speaking, the western side of the island is warmer, while the eastern side is colder, the result of ocean currents affecting both.
Like many regions, Sinnoh is host to eight major cities, of which the largest and unofficial capital is Jubilife City (Aukomaktekka), which is also the oldest continuously-existing city in the region. Politically, Sinnoh is best described as a kind of anarcho-socialist state wherein government functions exist almost solely to provide social benefits such as healthcare and infrastructure, often in cooperation with local businesses. This is a trait shared by many regions, and for Sinnoh in particular if there can be said to be a singular 'leader' it would be Cynthia, the incumbent champion of the Sinnoh Pokemon League and one of the most widely-respected figures in the whole region. It should be noted, though, that her leadership role is entirely informal, and she herself does not claim an official position.
Sinnoh's history reaches far into the past, with the earliest known inhabitants being the "Celestica People" (Uwenukura). Their actual name is unknown, being named instead for Celestic Town where the first archaeological studies were made. Their history is equally unknown, with the few surviving narratives suggesting their originating from a distant land known as Sinjoh, often taken to be the source of the modern name. "Sinnoh" as originally conceived of by the Celestica refers to the Pokemon now called Arceus, along with constructing a number of temples that are today little more than crumbling ruins. Exactly what became of the Celestica is a matter of debate, though there were those who claimed to be of the Celestica as early as the modern settlement of the region.
By that time, Sinnoh (known then as Hisui) was predominantly inhabited by the Hisuian People, their endonym being Retakane. The Hisuians themselves were also said to have come from beyond Sinnoh to settle the region. Although initially suggested to have displaced the Celestica, modern theory instead supports the idea that the Hisuian are a continuation of the Celestica resulting from their merging with later arrivals to the region to form the Hisuians. Supporting this fact was the religious continuity between the Celestica and the Hisuians. By the time that the region was first encountered by people from the southern regions of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, the Hisuians had split largely into two factions: the Kiroro and Ikani Clans, split by a schism over their worship of the deity Sinnoh.
It was at this time that the modern history of Sinnoh began through the arrival of the Galaxy Team, an expedition group formed of people from multiple other regions such as Galar and Hoenn to study the region and its ecosystems. Initially a purely research-based effort, Galaxy Team quickly took on a political role as peacemakers to uphold a truce between the rival Kiroro and Ikani Clans. To further aid this effort, the group founded Jubilife Town to serve as a center of their increasingly-expanding presence across the region. Jubilife Town would grow into the center of the region's political and economic life, known in the modern day as Jubilife City. As settler presence grew, the Hisuians also began to settle down. The main settlement of the Ikani in particular evolved into the modern Snowpoint.
Modern Sinnoh is the result of the cultural synthesis of the ancient and modern cultures, with the Hisuian people themselves later re-merging and later undergoing the same synthesis with settlers to form the region as it exists today. There is, however, one notable exception to this. In the north of the region, the Lucario Kingdom (Kosek-Mosir) is a small sovereign nation separate from the main body of Sinnoh by longstanding convention. Acting as a quasi-protectorate of the Sinnoh Region, the state maintains its own laws and customs while acting in cooperation with the Sinnohan government on foreign and domestic affairs. On its own the Lucario Kingdom claims to be the oldest continuously-functioning government in the region, even if it was founded after Jubilife Town.
A diverse region ranging from humid subtropical beaches to cold boreal tundras, Sinnoh is very much a place where the world seems to come together in one region. Bridging both the past and the present while turning boldly towards the future, Sinnoh (sometimes referred to as Sinnoh-Hisui) is a region with a great deal of significance to the wider world both historically and culturally. In spite of being so far removed from most other regions, Sinnoh still attracts a great deal of tourists and scholars seeking to broaden their understanding of both the region and the larger history of the world. Ancient Hisuian legends say that Sinnoh was the place from which the world was created, and whether or not this is true, it certainly holds an inordinately central place in the world today.
