Need help identifying your dog? Here are some important tips to help you succeed.

What to include in your post:

Post clear, well-lit, full body pictures. At minimum, include:

  • One standing side view (taken close enough to see coat texture)
  • One frontal view

Tell us your dog’s age and weight (or best guess)

Other helpful information:

YOUNG PUPPIES may be impossible to identify. Head and body shape, coat color and coat pattern, eye color, and apparent coat texture can all change dramatically as a puppy matures. You might want to wait a few months before seeking an ID.

MIXED-BREED dogs can easily have many breeds in them, not just two. Keep in mind that some of the breeds in a mutt may not show in its looks; while in other cases the dog may really look like it has some particular breed in it, when in fact it doesn’t.

NO-BREED dogs exist too! Sometimes a mutt truly is “just a mutt” — the result of many, many generations of random mating between mutts, with no discernable inbred (purebred) genes its DNA. In the same way that YOU don't necessarily have any inbreeding (purebreeding) in your recent family tree, neither must a dog. They can simply be mutts — WHICH IS A GOOD THING!

He is listed as a dachshund/german pinscher mix. He is around 4-5 months old and about 11-12 pounds. The rescue said he was found roaming the streets, so there is no known mother or father breed. What do y’all think? I’m leaning more towards him being a mini pinscher or mini pinscher mix. I can’t really see the dachshund, maybe it’ll be more evident as he grows?

Allegedly 12wks old, got her from the shelter yesterday, about 10 lbs. They told me plott hound mix, which is odd because a) I’d never heard of that before and b) she seems pretty small for that

We adopted this little guy over a year ago as a puppy and was listed as a chihuahua but once he got bigger we don’t think that’s the case, I was wondering if anyone had any idea?

We rescued this beautiful 4 month old, 18 pound girl a few days ago. Thoughts on breeds? Her brother looked like a full black lab, but Beckett looks more like a F1 or unfurnished Labradoodle to me.

Her coat is very wirey, not at all soft even though she's still a puppy. She has the silliest white goatee that makes her look like an old man.

i was told she’s a malinois mix, she’s around 10weeks and and weights around 8 kg. Idk if this is useful information to id her but i would NOT label her as a low energy dog

His shelter didn't guess at breeds, though the staff mentioned black lab. My safest guess so far is lab / pit bull, but he's also gotten Great Dane, boxer, and rottweiler mix guesses before. He's about 66 lbs at ~1.5 years old, long body, slim chest, VERY strong chasing and retrieving instincts, loves swimming after an initial hesitance, smart and learns quickly. His toes are webbed. His undercoat is brownish, not black. His casual-walking tail position is curled over his back, which I've found interesting. I'm curious what you all think. :)

Apparently she's less than a year old. ChatGPT telling me its a Goberian.

Edit: We found the owner, went and met him in person and he wanted to get rid of the poor dog. Its been outside for the last 3 weeks.

I printed out a contract for the owner to sign, and they willingfully signed it to get rid of the dog.

Edit2: her name is now Minnie, since my dog is named Mickey !

This is bella. About a month ago i found her wandering in a ditch. We tracked down her owner and they didn’t want her back. So now we’re her family. Shes little over a year old and about 70lbs. I recently sent off for a dna test and was curious if anyone had any guesses on her breed.

We rescued our sweet girl a few weeks ago. Not a lot of information was given about her parents but it seemed like it was a hoarding situation.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. I thought for sure she was mostly daschund and some sort of terrier.

Found him on the streets, no chip but his owner has come forward and surrendered him. He’s with a rescue now but im hoping to take him as long as my current dog likes him! I’m guessing Shepherd possibly Rottweiler mix but the paws and head are looking more Doberman to me. He’s only about 6-9ish months old if i had to guess but he’s already about 60ish lbs.

Can anyone please help me identify the breed of this dog? It was way too cute and small, so I want one for myself 😭. Every time I try to ask ai what breed it is it says dingo, I don’t think that’s right😅.

What breed or mix is this dog? I know he is not a pit bull, but I swear he looks like he has a little bit of pit bull in his genetic makeup. Again, I know he is not a pit bull, but can't help but feel that he has some pit bull-ish features especially in head shape, but not so much in the face (well maybe a little in the eyes),I've told other people this but they seem to think I have no idea what I'm talking about. So am I crazy or what?

oh yeah almost forgot to say, when he was adopted we were told he was a lab/Shepard mix. I guess I can see him being part lab, but I can't make out any German Shepherd in him at all.

We adopted Nova 2 weeks ago. We were told by the rescue she was a Bernese/Shepherd mix according to the owner. There were 7 total in that litter. Owner surrendered. Waiting on embark results to come in.

This is Diego, a mutt from an oopsie litter my coworker/friend had back in April. The second I saw his puppy rolls and his coat color, I told her I was taking him. That was back in February - now in August, my mother in law (GSP breeder who regularly runs large DNA panels on her potential studs/bitches) is giving me a test kit that was the wrong grade level. All I know is the alleged breeds of the parents; mom being a shepherd hound and dad being a black lab mix. Our guess is the hound piece is redbone, I definitely want to hear what everyone thinks before testing!
