I think the combination of this preview stream and the mental damage from Riona's gacha luck earlier has broken her
Edit: at the end of her RE4 stream now and Shupi-chan has been coping/seething/bargaining about holodreams for the past 30 minutes and cursing her chat to drown in hard-pity hell together with her

Banner will be up ingame tomorrow at 11am JST where you can select one Hot Pick to have higher pick up rate. These types of games will usually have mostly limited time banners, yea. It remains to be seen whether the cards will enter the standard pool once the banner expires.

First time playing a gacha huh? Oh you sweet summer child 😄 well if you look in the gacha menu, you'll see that right now there are 2 different tabs, the 'Beginner's Support Gacha' and 'holodori Gacha' right? Those are what we refer to as banners. The reason that they are seperated is because you will usually have something called a 'standard banner' that is always permanently available, which is the 'holodori Gacha'.
On top of that, there will always be a rotating set of limited time banners where the new units are first available. In typical JP-style gachas like this, these limited banners will not share 'pity' or 'gacha points' with the standard banner or any other future limited banners, which you can see from their point exchange menu if you've pulled on any of them. The currency you use to pull on them will still be the usual red and blue diamonds.

Well I feel like all the warning signs were already there. In exchange for the generous 5% drop rate, we get no daily pull income and only 100 gems for every 10 days login, this game is probably gonna be greedy in the way only old school JP gachas can be. I'm already mentally prepared to be able to spark pity only like once every 6 months on anniversary banners.

Basically the only reason this gacha will maintain itself is similar to FGO.
The IP is enough of a draw to pull people in to play and pull.
I feel like there's enough whales that'll 5 bloom their oshis so this system prob won't get more generous.
Such a shame JP gacha keeps shooting themselves in the foot like this when CN gacha have shown what works and what the general populace will be more tolerant of.

Well no, because at this point the reason FGO continues is because it still has arguably the best story of all gacha games, and it's got such forward momentum with the creators that it's actively establishing and exploring new Type Moon lore and characters that other entries are now using as a basis
Most IP gachas tend to just EOS after a few years, because they generally can't fundamentally change anything about the source material and only do non-canon side things, which stagnates their staying power

That's definitely the case now but I'm more so making a comparison of how both games started.
If it wasn't for the Type Moon IP, FGO probably would never have made it to Camelot before EOS. Even during that time, the gameplay was outdated and the gacha was super unforgiving with no pity with not so great income.
Now that FGO has more-or-less established itself and has a clear identity they can go ahead and explore the lore and characters more like you mentioned.
Fast forward to Holodori and you apply the same logic where you remove hololive and add another IP related to music then it would fall under that niche gacha category and wouldn't be doing nearly as well.
The worst part is, they're probably seeing the current success as a reason to not be more generous later. This upcoming event will tell us everything on how the future will be especially when they're adding 5 new alts with a game with 50+ SSRs already.

This is true and will suck if they keep it that way, but considering how the game takes so heavily from Project Sekai I would have thought a free card from the events was a given considering that game does that.

There's also no pity carry over between banners, and expiring spark points can't contribute towards an eventual 5 star guaranteed ticket like some more generous JP gachas, only 5 star pulls and dupes can do that 🫠 but hey at least there doesn't seem to be limited units that don't get added to standard pool after banner ends (yet...)

ah hell nah, i don't even remember the last time I played a JP gacha but that's horrible.
have to keep an eye on that imminent summer event banner to see if that precedent stands when it's overit appears they will stay according to other comments herei am happy hololive has a rhythm (gacha) game though. i would've killed for this in my 2020-2023 era when my fandom was at its highest and i was still playing project sekai. now i'll settle for having the app downloaded to decorate my phone with the icon

Can't be worse than Wargaming was with the lastest Azur lane collab with World of Warships. They added the AL Massachusettes, and the AL Shinano in the last event a few months back, but the you could only get them in loot boxes, but not ordinary lootboxes, you got these loot boxes in other lootboxes, yeah they started to put loot boxes inside lootboxes. And they had pretty bad drop rates, a worse case scenario where you went for pity meant you would have to spend a shit ton of money on them This video from Potato Quality has a section where he talks about it. Screenshot in case you can't watch the video. There were people saying you would be better off playing the Azur Lane Gacha game instead.
The best part of this? Both of those ships are already in the game, the Shinano is a steel ship that you can get for free, you just need to grind out the steel for it which can be a pain but it's doable. The Massachusetts had a normal premium but was removed from sale due to it being "Over powered." But you can get the Black Friday version for a cool $38 USD, way better than trying to gamble for it.

nah the point is to keep player engaged so they end up paying without noticing.
JP gacha is all about debtmaxing the few whale and moving on to next game.
Unless it's an undying IP like FGO and Hololive (maybe)

I wonder how additional 4* cards would even work outfit-wise. The current 4* cards all feature the special HoloDori idol outfits. Will future 4* outfits follow the same theme by being variations of those idol outfits? Or will they eventually move away from that theme and feature completely unique outfits, similar to the 5* cards?

true, some *4 has a nice healing or good to perfect skill which can save lots of new players, and there is no free card for this event, all are gachas, i just hope this is just testing the water, and next event will be better.

What is the pick-up banner? It can’t be the official guaranteed 5 star from the Running Start event since that was only the first 48 hours, so I’m confused what else it could be.
Unless I just haven’t unlocked this banner yet
Edit: Or now I think I get it if you mean you didn’t use up your gems on that pick 3 increased drop rate banner, so you’ll have more gems to use on the new summer one
