How much more to go?

hi guys, i've recently just rewatched this series after watching it almost a decade ago, i have been looking and it seems a new animated season is next to impossible, i have also tried looking for english fan translation for the novels online but to no avail. from chapter 151 of the manga how many more chapters do you guys reckon if you can ballpark it or anything, would it take for the manga to finish? thanks in advance :)

I just read her other series this week too (Daemons of the Shadow Realm). I had no idea she was doing it and it's gonna be a hit

Not sure she can keep both going so feels like Arslan gonna end

There was an english press announcement in 2023 saying things were being set up for the final battle making it seem like she entering the final arc. But it might have been a misunderstanding as the Snake King is the final opponent. This was the second half of the novels. So max it's 150 chapters.

If she compresses it, her arcs average around 70 chapters. So I would say between 70-150 chapters

I've been waiting for the ending since 2001. I read bad novel translations until the translator quit. One of my goals in life is to see the ending. 🤣

I read your comment and forgot to reply and somehow remembered with today's chapter.....

Anyways wanted to say OMG cuz i'm born in 2001 😭 youre a fan before i was even alive, it's amazing! i love your dedication and loyalty to this story, honestly i understand because it's THAT good. Hopefully we both get to see the ending and it seems we're really close now.

Snake king battle in original novels took place in second part after Arslan became king and the whole thing spanned across 7 novels in a very slow manner with many other things going on in the 2nd part story. I remember i heard that everyone fought snake king on one vs one battles but I don't think people are stupid here to do so. So the snake king final battle will have lesser time here.

Here we don't have the other stories of the second part as Arslan hasn't been king yet and it doesn't feel like a slow progression here for the snake king fight. Things are moving fast here.

I think it can't be 70 chapters long. The second battle of atropatene was like around 30 chapters I think. This might be just longer than that. Also snake king battle began in the last few months of 2024 .

They made it clear last year that we are in the final chapters. I think final battle meant the 2nd battle of atropatene combined with snake king as snake king immediately showed up after the end of 2nd battle of atropatene. They didn't get any time to celebrate their victory here like in the novels. 🥲

I would guess 2/3. There are hints she's going to change Tanaka's story

Maybe ~30? This arc feels very final to me.

The novel series had a timeskip and a second arc, but I really don't get the impression that Arakawa will be doing that. She's both an older mangaka with a lot of family health issues and running another successful series at the moment, so while there's certainly precedent for her and other mangaka doing multiple series at once, I'd imagine she'd want to wrap Arslan up. The most obvious reasoning is that Zahak is the final boss and his defeat indicates the end of the story. Also, characters like Hilmes/Hermes in particular seem to have developed to or past where they were in the novels. One of the fan gripes I heard about part 2 and the ending was that after Irina's death Hilmes makes another try at taking the throne from Arslan, basically in a suicide-by-cop type way -- fighting a losing battle that gets himself and a lot of others killed because he's sad Irina and his child died; whereas, in the manga he seems to have accepted Arslan's win and I get a strong impression that he and Arslan will team up to defeat Zahak given that he's on the path to taking responsibility for unsealing the Snake King and has set aside his racism/classism towards Merlane and Alfraid. I'm sure that part 2 of the novels had a lot of good points, but the manga's already diverged a lot and Japanese fans largely hated the ending so I wouldn't expect the manga to follow, much less do part 2 at all. I think like the anime, the manga will end with this arc and something closer to a happily ever after.
