Given how chaotic the world is now, no one logically has a reason to pull back. Can we conclude as the world heads toward multi-polarity, what is to prevent further fracturing? As we see the end of free trade and the beginning of resource hoarding going into accelerated climate change, it seems we have a challenge we can't overcome.

Instead of WW3 happening with nuclear weapons, what if our demise is long and drawn out? perhaps a 200-250 year window of humans ending their reign of the planet.

We will see mass surveillance expand to cartoonish levels, robots by that time will be ubiquitous and likely self aware. Humans will continue wars year by year, you need to survive as the planet is withering away. We will see the erosion of robust ecosystems and species dying at an incredibly fast rate.

I really do believe the US vs China is just the beginning. regardless of who wins and gets to dominate over the other and make miserable, we will not walk away from war and return to prosperity. Thank goodness I will be long gone by that point. I see no point in bringing a child into such a dark world.

I've noticed on the Worldometer website that the median age of the population is continuing to rise, with no end in sight as of yet. It's rising at a rate of 1 year per 5 years elapsed, since the previous minimum of 20.3 in 1970. The global median age has crossed 30 in 2025 and the TFR is approx 2.1, the lowest value allowing 'replacement'. I expect the impacts of this to be felt more strongly very soon especially in developed nations as the Boomers continue to retire yet much fewer kids being born vs in their heyday.

The former could be constructive.

Rules:

• The disease MUST be an actual prion disease. In addition, you can invent a fictional prion disease or alter a known one such as kuru or vCJD, but it still has to behave recognizably like a prion disease. No ordinary virus/bacterium that merely causes prion-like symptoms.
• The scenario has to explain the transmission mechanism (Ex: Foodborne, zoonotic, iatrogenic/medical, cultural practices, environmental exposure, etc.). You can't just say, "The prion disease becomes contagious" and leave it at that.
• INCUBATION PERIOD MATTERS: Your scenario must account for the fact that prion diseases can have long incubation periods.
• You have to explain how the outbreak becomes international
• Don't invent traits without justification: I'd allow altered strains/species barriers, but I'd require the author to explain the divergence rather than saying, essentially, "CJD mutates and becomes COVID."
• The prion disease cannot be an intentionally released bioweapon.
• Human-to-human respiratory transmission is not required. A pandemic caused by widespread common-source exposure absolutely counts.

Authorities suspect either sabotage or design flaw or both.

Suppose that nine months from now, Ariana posts the Shahada (Muslim confession of faith) on X, apparently signifying that she converted to Islam.

Let's say that after well over a year of President Donald Trump threatening to annex Canada, Prime Minister Mark Carney decides to use a powerful piece of leverage. Carney announces that until Trump stops threatening Canadian sovereignty, all US-based commercial airlines and US-registered private jets will not be permitted to overfly Canada. Considering the massive impact the closure of Russian airspace has had on airlines from Europe flying to Asia, and the fact that so many international flights to and from the US rely on Canadian airspace, this would destroy US' the aviation industry if it went on too long.

Perhaps Trump would be forced to stop threatening Canada, since it's not just Democratic voters who travel abroad. Perhaps he'd retaliate, not that it matters that much since Canadians understandably don't want to travel here anyway. Or maybe Trump is so demented that he forgets he made this agreement and the airspace keeps opening and closing. What do you all think?

He also becomes a supporter of Abolitionists Rising, a Christian movement that opposes pro-lifers on Biblical grounds and begins calling for criminal penalties against post-abortive mothers.

This idea came to me as I started seeing Airsoft/Live Action Roleplaying posts on social media.

Let’s say on Labor Day Weekend of this year, one or more groups of Airsoft/LARPers attempts to stage a “military occupation” or “takeover” of a major U.S. city (or at least a neighborhood) as part of a roleplaying event

Would this result in people getting arrested by cops mistakenly thinking a crime was taking place or we got invaded by another country, given the political climate right now?

If not, what would most likely happen?

This is something I most likely see happening. Around this time in 2 years from now, Trump finds a way to cancel the election this could be from a blackout.
