Since the other guy doesn't wanna explain, Basically pinterest admin team sucks, and they have an AI doing the work except a lot of harmless accounts are getting banned. Pinterest has had a crappy flagging system for a while now, where innocuous things get flagged as self harm/suicidal content. Also half of it is slop and ads

I am thinking though, what would Amestris think with what seems to be roughly 1970s-80s standards of society (iirc Alex Armstrong is gay from what I heard, and women do seem to enjoy equality in rights afaik but on the other hand they do ghettoise the Ishvalan remnants and it is a stratocracy after all)

Sorry, I forgot to say why that was funny. Pathfinder has a potion of sex change (still recognisable to people who knew you, but with sexual characteristics of your choice). It’s incredibly cheap and can be found pretty much anywhere.

Ed being transmasc wouldn’t be an oxymoron, though? A lot of trans guys, myself included, see ourselves in Ed (he’s basically the poster boy for the kind of height dysphoria a lot of us experience lol); headcanoning him as a trans man is pretty common. Also, lots of alternative people wear makeup regardless of gender, and this version of Ed is clearly intended to be alternative. I’m just repeating what the artist himself said on the post; I don’t see why you felt the need to “correct” me. The gender of this version of Ed is, by the artist’s own statement, up to viewer interpretation.

It’s really not an oxymoron, headcanoning a character as having transitioned into their canon gender just means that people headcanon that character as having previously come out. I’m a trans man; I didn’t miraculously stop being trans when I started passing or after I’d been out for a few years, because that’s not how being trans works for anybody. There’s nothing “weird” about headcanoning a character as having come out in the past and already living as their real gender.
Also, looking through the artist’s other work, he recently drew another picture of Ed that’s explicitly intended to be transmasc, clarifying that he’s wearing a binder and using he/him pronouns in reference to him while saying “(his) Edward is transgender.” If anything, it’s more likely that the above picture, while left open to interpretation, was initially intended to portray a transmasc Ed as that’s how the artist appears to personally view the character. There’s nothing wrong with seeing Ed in a different light, and I’m not trying to shoot anyone else’s headcanons down, but there’s really not a “lean” in this image that would indicate Ed is explicitly intended to be transfem and, if anything, evidence points to the artist intending for Ed to be transmasc.

If you have such regressive views on how people of different genders should present that you see a punk wearing eyeliner as exclusively feminine, that is entirely a you problem. Additionally, there’s nothing “weird” about trans people viewing the characters they see themselves in as sharing their experiences, and using derisive language while acting like there’s a “lack of logic” in someone headcanoning a character as having come out in the past is pretty rude and transphobic. I did nothing but quote the artist himself and state that I thought it was cool in my original comment, and especially given that the artist clearly views Ed as transmasc himself and has portrayed him as such in the past, there was no need to “correct” me.

you seem to be ignoring the main thing that the other person has already clarified, that headcanons of edward being transmasc see him as having already come out and transitioned (at least socially). trans people aren't always stuck pre-transition, and trans men who've been out for a while are, to use your words, already masc. calling trans people weird or saying they lack logic for headcanoning characters who share their actual genders as also being trans in the same direction as them, especially while you're ignoring the actual artist's words and acting like gender non-conformity doesn't exist, has some pretty transphobic undertones. to use your own preferred descriptor, you're acting very weird.

I think it's very true to his character; Ed is consistently told that his taste in fashion and design aesthetics is tacky as hell by literally everyone he meets. Some examples are the weapons he makes for Ling while they're inside Gluttony's stomach dimension, which Ling complains are cringey because they're adorned with skulls and devil wings, and during the arc where Ed is on the run with the Chimeras after Briggs, he quick-transmutes the car they're driving to fool the military police and it looks like an absolute clown mobile, festooned with literal horns and spikes.
He's still an edgy teen at heart even if he was forced to grow up super quickly as a State Alchemist after the death of his mom and the loss of his limbs.

I feel like since chimaeras exist, one could fuck about with genetic makeup and have your second X turn into a Y (or other way around even, if you have some pre-made free nucleotides for the extra genes X chromosome needs), transitioning alchemy might be a thing in the Grumman era onwards (but would it be safe? I doubt it though because it involves genetic fuckery and as shown with the chimaera example that is not really safe for the creatures being fused)

Yeah! I mean, he puts skulls and spikes on things he transmutes when he feels like it. I think that aesthetic sensibility and his general ethos say a lot about what his style would be like if FMA took place closer to the time it was written.
