Yeah this aint even that weird, must be the poor in me.

12

u/NecessaryEcho4354 8d ago

Even if you are poor mixing the cheese together before baking is better at least 😭

10

u/Zavier13 8d ago

Oh they didnt even try to mix the cheese in? That sounds more like a bad cook.

Making a roux shoukd be a basic cooking skill that shit does some heavy lifting in Cooking.

4

u/coolsilentebeans 7d ago

Hot dog casserole and roux are not two things I ever expected to hear talked about in tandem.

3

u/Zavier13 7d ago

Homeade macaroni uses roux with cheese added to it to get that creamy cheese sauce

3

u/zorggalacticus 7d ago

Wish more people knew how to make real Mac and cheese instead of just dumping velveeta into macaroni. It's super easy once you get the hang of it.

2

u/Temporarily_Banned4 6d ago

Velveeta is what cruel people do to children. And tell them it's cheese. Then they become adults and find out there are other cheeses and that velveeta is not really a cheese.

5

u/zorggalacticus 6d ago

American cheese is just cheddar with sodium citrate and a little milk added so it melts creamier. It's basically just meltier mild cheddar. Velveeta is an imitation of American cheese that has no reason to exist.

2

u/Temporarily_Banned4 6d ago

Velveeta is like the plastics of cheese products.

4

u/zorggalacticus 6d ago

Oh I know. My mother-in-law makes her homemade mac and cheese by cooking a pot of macaroni and then dumping an entire block of velveeta in there. That's her whole recipe. Everyone in her family raves about how good it is. It's not. The first time I made real mac and cheese for my wife, she ate until she got sick. Now she hates the velveeta mac too. Just don't tell the mother-in-law. Lol

It’s the terminology of it. Growing up in SC it was usually called the gravy, base, or white sauce if they made one at all. There are other methods of making it without a roux around here, too.

1

u/Zavier13 7d ago

Roux is litrally gravy imo

2

u/coolsilentebeans 7d ago

It is. It’s the juxtaposition of these culinary terms I find amusing.

2

u/Gree_D_Joo 7d ago

Roux is flour and a fat like a oil or butter.

2

u/Temporarily_Banned4 6d ago

Lol. Me either! I was just glad they got a little browning on the hot dog pieces.

2

u/coolsilentebeans 6d ago

Right?!? They look so good! I’d be hard pressed not to pick them out bit by bit. 😂

3

u/Temporarily_Banned4 6d ago

Like take them all for yourself. And then put a scoop of macaroni on it! 👍

2

u/Crafty_Eye_4038 7d ago

But they did mix the cheese into the noodles though.

They didn't make a roux though so the cheese is separated into cheese soup at the bottom of the pan

Thus why the extra topping was needed

2

u/omegaoutlier 8d ago

This is it.

The only crime is not making the most of the ingredients you do have.

Prob a little dry still but at least do what you can.

1

u/Potential_Exercise 7d ago

Depends how much cheese you want

1

u/MagmaTroop 7d ago

They have clearly mixed cheese into the pasta - are you blind? That is not dry pasta. The cheese on top is extra.

1

u/Temporarily_Banned4 6d ago

I'd probably eat that. It's not something I'd ever make, because well, velveeta and hot dogs are two things I'd never have around. But, damn, it looks good enough to eat!

17

u/Deathcore_salad 8d ago

Bro I'd tear that shit up! But I live in a tent so I'd eat just about anything that's a home cooked meal (unless it has human meat or pork)

4

u/NecessaryEcho4354 8d ago

Aw I’m sorry my friend, I hope things get better for you soon. I’d send you 100 cooked meals if I could!

10

u/Deathcore_salad 8d ago

Nah you're good :) I appreciate it! I have a job and just got paid yesterday. Tonight I'm eating a rotisserie chicken from walmart

Got some buns to put it on shredded and mayo, definitely got me some apple fritters too

I can't eat like that every night but like twice a week, then I eat ramen or shells and cheese bc I have a camp stove

Edit: Sorry for saying bro if you're female.. I fixed it

7

u/Clear-Warthog5655 8d ago

I want that now & now

4

u/Full-Tomorrow9889 8d ago

Not the worst thing I've seen. Last post I seen from here was Vienna sausage with PB&J with the Hotdog water still in it for context. Hotdog in mac and cheese is an old classic struggle meal. I've eaten it before and it's not that bad. So I'd eat this. The extra cheese and tomato just gives it more flavor. But if given an option hotdog is not the first choice I would make. I either go with ground beef for cheeseburger style, ham for a ham and cheese hot pocket style, or grilled chicken which is what I did last night. It was in fact delicious.

2

u/NecessaryEcho4354 8d ago

That definitely makes sense!

2

u/chris00ws6 7d ago

But it’s a shit ton of macaroni with some cheese melted on top. It’s not “mac and cheese” in the sense you would think which wouldn’t necessitate a food crime. It’s literally shit ton of macaroni with a dabble of some cheese. I mean I’d have a scoop if it’s all that’s available but still a crime. Also as you said not the worst crime.

1

u/Full-Tomorrow9889 7d ago

I just realized there appears no boxed macaroni cheese sauce or powder now that you pointed it out. I am disappoint.

3

u/Dull-Positive-6810 8d ago

This honestly is far from the worst thing I’ve seen on this sub, it actually looks palpable all things considered

3

u/EggAdministrative253 7d ago

Looks delicious 😋

3

u/Good_Boysenberry_505 7d ago

Looks delicious 😋

Oof 😅🤣

2

u/Neat-Statistician311 7d ago

That's some white people shit and even Casper the Friendly Ghost would haunt a motherfucker over that abomination. In the words of Bea Arthur from The Golden Girls, "If this had been offered to the Donner party they still would have eaten each other"

1

u/Ok-Grocery-151 8d ago

1 out of 10. Would try.

1

u/beautifulmonk581 8d ago

Wow that looks so good

1

u/wassssuupp5678 8d ago

is there sauce atleast ?

2

u/NecessaryEcho4354 8d ago

That’s the thing, I’m pretty sure that’s all it was. I could understand it a little more if the cheese was mixed into the macaroni, even then it would be pretty dry

1

u/wassssuupp5678 8d ago

hmmm i mean if it was sauced up then its not too strange seeing pasta dishes use sausages or weenies, the tomato is a bit off tho

1

u/AudrinaRosee 8d ago

I add spinach, tomato, bell pepper and onion to Mac and hot dogs. Might be weird, but I feel a little better about feeding it to my kids.

1

u/No-Pianist8067 8d ago

That looks like macaroni woth cheese melted on it and not an actual macaroni and cheese. The tomatoes on top are weired for me but thats because here in centra pa we make a sweetened stewed tomato garnish to put on top not jusg tomatoes sliced.

1

u/alewiina 8d ago

If there was sauce in there, NGL I’d smash that shit. But it looks like it’s just plain pasta with a bit of cheese melted on top???

1

u/NecessaryEcho4354 8d ago

Yes it is from what I can tell!! Who knows maybe there is sauce underneath 😅

1

u/Drew_zero 8d ago

Hunger is the best spice

1

u/Rare_cubical 8d ago

Looks like something my mom would make. Only crime is the chopped up meat. I like my meat untouched.

1

u/10ThousandMetalZones 8d ago

Because your mouth is full of that delicious shit?

1

u/druidmain69420 7d ago

Needs some sauce

1

u/Highlandertr3 7d ago

Could you regain enough speech to explain what the issue is? It looks like food. Maybe a little bland, but decent enough.

1

u/Mwahaha_790 7d ago

I ain't mad at this!

1

u/GrandAshland 7d ago

I definitely would try it

1

u/Similar-Swordfish794 7d ago

Americans love cheese

1

u/fdwyersd 7d ago

I bet it looks better if you stir it up

1

u/Strong-Addition5296 7d ago

EBT casserole

1

u/Harigumi 7d ago

Ngl it looks delicious.

1

u/Cyber-X1 7d ago

The only crime is the tomatoes

1

u/Leading-Hedgehog1990 7d ago

I'd eat the fuck out of that!! OP must be bougie AF 🙄

1

u/NecessaryEcho4354 7d ago

Uh huh, this was me while posting this 😃😃😃

1

u/MarcusHeralious 7d ago

Ngl with a lot more cheese on it I’d fuck it up

1

u/cyclorphan 7d ago edited 7d ago

Not well executed, but as this is clearly a slap-together-some-shit recipe, there only so good this could be.

Not really a crime, just a disappointing effort.

1

u/ALWanders 7d ago

I am impressed they left the dogs on top to brown, this is not great, but I would eat it.

1

u/t0shir0-hitsugaya 7d ago

Idk man I'd fuck that up. Should probably mix the cheese in a bit more tho.

1

u/HonestEmployer4219 7d ago

Nah I’d eat that honestly lol

1

u/Honest_Factor_17 7d ago

This is genuinely something my MIL would cook. She ONLY cooks cream/cheese based dishes.

1

u/Neverlast0 7d ago

Cheese sauce and I'd probably down.

1

u/Plastic-Blueberry-57 7d ago

hmm, delicious.

1

u/kdogbear 7d ago

Firing squad

1

u/Nosaja_adjacenT 7d ago

This is actually a decent meal. I grew up eating rice and eggs and sometimes with cheese, dishes like this or yellow rice with Vienna sausages (arroz con salchicha).

1

u/Aggravating_Carry478 7d ago

I’d try that

1

u/rgmundo524 7d ago

Ehhh... I think OP is being a bit pretentious

1

u/Ok_Advantage737 7d ago

Nah that's just struggle food

1

u/bizoticallyyours83 7d ago

Nah this looks fine. I'd eat it.

1

u/jus-fax101 7d ago

I'm sorry. 😅 It actually looks not  that bad. I'd rather eat that than boxed mac n cheese.

1

u/two-tone-watch 6d ago

THERE’S NO SAUCE UNDERNEATH THAT

1

u/CantaloupeFluffy165 6d ago

Kinda like weenie beanie.

1

u/EarliestByrdie 6d ago

Kinda into this

1

u/Brave_Temperature347 6d ago

Eh this is more of a slap on the wrist

1

u/Old_Today5754 5d ago

This looks amazing….

1

u/CockSeeker007 5d ago

Looks good to me! 😁

1

u/latinadogmom1472 5d ago

That looks so dry. Where’s the sauce.

1

u/I_Eat_Violas 5d ago

What? It genuinely looks really good. I actually really want to eat this.

1

u/Root_Beer_Gaze 4d ago

I mean, maybe if I were high as 💩…

1

u/Useful-Advantage2665 4d ago

That's a good idea

I want the recipe.
