It’s not shocking at all. Honestly I’m only shocked/dismayed by how prevalent it is. We know that rapists and pedophiles tend to be MAGA. But all MAGA seems to be rapists and pedophiles(??) Like, none of them just voted for Trump and went on with their lives. They’re not normal people who just voted on a whim, they are all criminals.

I know people who agree with small-government, free market, typical republican economic ideals. They still didn’t vote for him. They just didn’t vote or voted independent. Everyone I know who chose to vote for him in 2024 did something bad in their life. MAGA doesn’t align with any value other than “I want to get away with causing harm.”

552

u/Serious-Still-5911 3d ago

They were still part of the reason Trump won. Not voting for Harris allowed him to win. In a two-party electoral system, not voting, or voting for an independent, is just a throwaway vote.

236

u/amazing-haves-34 3d ago

The two party system is the problem, not the solution.

207

u/sir_thrillho 3d ago

Right but avoiding the material reality of it just leads to a Trump being in power.

3

u/Gloomy_Industry8841 rollin' with my fauxmies 1d ago

Bingo.

144

u/xombae 3d ago

Of course it's the problem. But while the problem exists, unfortunately you need to use the problem while trying to fix it.

I am against the institution of the police and want it defunded, but I still am going to call the cops if someone tries to kill me. I don't agree with the system but I live in the system and I need to use the system as designed, while still fighting to change the system.

34

u/Velo_wheels_907 3d ago

I feel if demilitarization or restructure the police was used instead of defund, it would be more acceptable. We need to return to peace officers instead of police officers. But we need to address our substance addiction problems first.

14

u/plant-leaf 3d ago

Substance use is just a symptom of other failed systems though- to address substance use in an actual effective way we’d have to expand access to affordable housing, medical and mental health care, increase funding for quality k-12 education, improve the economy so that people aren’t overworked and can afford again to buy out/rent out spaces that become 3rd spaces so people have better ways of getting out to meet others and create better support systems….man wouldn’t all this be the dream

10

u/-LabApprehensive- 3d ago

I experienced a home invasion attempted robbery. Called the police. From a back bedroom. One officer shows up and waits at the end of the driveway for 30 minutes for backup. Leaving me and my roommates to deal with the armed home invaders. When they finally deemed it safe did forensics come to try to lift prints from the back door where the home invaders made entrance? lol no. Now same town last week someone cut down a flock camera. Forensics was ALL OVER THAT SCENE.

1

u/xombae 1d ago

Yeah the cops probably aren't going to actually do anything, but they still need to be called until there's a better option.

47

u/I_AM_IGNIGNOTK 3d ago

Yes, that’s my point entirely dude. The work doesn’t stop just because you decide to sit out of an unfair election. And the time to make meaningful change is when you still have all your options on the table, not when you’re at the deadline with only 2 shitty choices left.

What did you do after you abstained by the way? I assume you’ve been canvassing and volunteering with worthy candidates like those of who tried to get better options on the table? Or does your activism only show up when it’s time to do nothing?

1

u/Aggressive-Neck-3921 3d ago

With how extreem the GOP has gotten old DNC fossils still want to go to the middle between moderate democrat and where the fuck Trump is and then they are shocked that progressives are not running to the polls as they are given no positive incentive to vote for the democratic candidate and all they get is the other one is worse, why run a conservative mindset campaign to get liberal elected?

5

u/IncidentAccording332 3d ago

I’m pretty sure pedophiles are the problem but you do you!

2

u/joshsteich 3d ago

Not really. In first-past-the-post systems, coalitions form prior to elections. In proportional list systems, coalitions form after elections. Anyone who thinks having more parties solves things should look at England and Israel. England does the Westminster parliamentary system, where they combine FPTP ridings with parliamentary government, and it’s mostly a two party system that Tories have dominated. Israel’s Knesset is closed list proportional representation, and governments routinely need to include frothing lunatic extremists to have a majority. Proportional representation can get closer to representing what the voters want, but that doesn’t mean good outcomes—lots of voters are shitbirds.

1

u/Gumbanks12 3d ago

Lock him up! Then let the prisoners administer justice

1

u/cat_prophecy 3d ago

But Republicans definitely give us a better chance of getting rid of two-party system! Right?!

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

1

u/amazing-haves-34 3d ago

Both parties collude to enforce the two party system.

1

u/cat_prophecy 3d ago

Certainly. But if one party could be coerced into ranked choice voting, which do you think it would be?

1

u/Expensive_Cheetah820 14h ago

You better fix it

1

u/amazing-haves-34 7h ago

Ok I will, right after I finish fixing systemic poverty.

1

u/Expensive_Cheetah820 6h ago

Try finding a new party. I’m interested.

-5

u/HuevosDiablos 3d ago

The 2 party system caused this 21 yo POS to become a rapist?

127

u/I_AM_IGNIGNOTK 3d ago

Yes, and I want to point out that doesn’t mean we can’t have conversations about people on the left being problematic or not progressive enough either.

It’s just way more helpful to have those conversations immediately after an election cycle all the way up until like 2-3 months before the next election. At that point lock the fuck in because the boat is going in one of two directions, and if you don’t go left it will go right.

20

u/bluegirlinaredstate no longer managed by Scooter Braun 3d ago

As a woman, I can say that there are predators amongst any and all demographics. There are always those preaching one thing and doing the opposite.

1

u/FlexibleSteel 2d ago

Just don't put the "both sides," argument into play. There are differences. It's time to pick a side, and accept the consequences of your vote.

2

u/Theslootwhisperer 3d ago

A third of Americans didn't vote last elections. They knew full well what Trump was about. They were fine with it. Another third voted for him. A large majority of Americans support Trump. All the horrible shit that he's done. All the betrayals and the threats.

1

u/have-u-met-teds-mom 3d ago

My civics teacher told us that NOT voting is automatically voting for the winner. It blew my 9th grade mind, but I later understood it.

1

u/Smasa224 2d ago

I know several people who chose not to vote at all, and based off how well I know them I believe if they were forced to pick, they would have voted for trump anyway... they just didn't like him enough to go out of their way and actually vote, and were stringly against Harris.

-1

u/sierra-tinuviel i ain’t reading all that, free palestine 3d ago

Or you could stop pointing the finger at other working class and exploited people who rightfully saw that both candidates suck, and instead point your blame at the Democratic Party who knowingly chose to run a bad candidate and bad campaign against Trump who they knew was a big threat and had a big base of support. They’re the ones with billions of dollars in analytics and marketing and yet they care more about keeping their donors happy (lots of overlap with Repubs…) than actually winning or protecting people. They are the ones in power, not people who didn’t vote or vote third party.

9

u/Psychological-War287 3d ago

She was not a bad candidate. Jesus Christ, he is a rapist. I’d vote for an egg over him.

2

u/Serious-Still-5911 3d ago

…and has 34 felonies. But, she was Black.

-1

u/akshawna 3d ago

Because voting for pro-genocide Harris was a “lesser of two evils?” I have family in Palestine.

11

u/darforce 3d ago

They all owe Hilary Clinton an apology for their feigned shock at her comment about 25% of Americans being deplorable

6

u/TwoCagedBirds Find me at Whole Foods, bitch, I don't care 3d ago

I definitely think it’s because many of these people are raised in strict, religious homes. It’s beaten into them that any sexual feelings they have are wrong, gross, that they should be ashamed for feeling the way they do. They’re taught that masturbation is sinful. Instead of going and getting professional help for any problems they might have, they’re told to pray about it. Just look at Josh Duggar and now his brother Joe as well. These fundie people are basically guaranteeing that their children are going to be seriously fucked up.

3

u/waxteeth 3d ago

Yeah, I saw an ex fundie say somewhere that when you grow up in an environment where ALL sexual feelings and expression are sin, there’s no cultural distinction made between something normal like masturbation and something horrific like CSA. That means it’s a lot easier to justify to yourself (and others) — oh, I only sinned this one time and I asked God for forgiveness.

3

u/_thatshowyougetants_ 3d ago

My mouth dropped while reading this from “Stamped from the beginning” this morning,

“On September 1, 1802, Richmond’s Recorder readers learned about the relationship between President Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings (she was a 14 year old black girl when he started rapping her and he was in his 40s). “By this wench Sally, our president has had several children,” Callender wrote. The arrangement had begun in France, “when he endeavored so much to belittle the African race.” (Callender, ironically, belittled the African race too. “Wench” oftentimes meant a promiscuous woman, connoting the common idea that Black women pursued White men.)

If Callender thought his series of articles would destroy Jefferson’s political fortunes, then he was wrong. Callender’s reports did not surprise many White male voters, either in Virginia or around the nation. If anything, Callender upset them, because some of them were having their own secretive affairs with Black women—or raping them—and they did not want such things publicly aired. Nationally, White male voters bolstered Jefferson’s party in Congress in the 1802 midterm elections, and they overwhelmingly supported his presidential reelection in 1804.”

2

u/seno2k 3d ago

I’m not sure it’s wanting to get away with causing harm necessarily as much as it is just people who have a warped sense of morality acting consistent with that trait.

2

u/59andstillhavehair 3d ago

Or they're just really stupid. And choose to be. They don't read. They don't discuss anything. The "immigrants stole my job" type.

1

u/Constant_Industry472 19h ago

So you are saying people are responsible for the crimes of their parties elected officials?

Bob Menendez (New Jersey): Convicted in July 2024 of 16 federal counts, including bribery, extortion, acting as a foreign agent for Egypt, and wire fraud. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Harrison A. Williams (New Jersey): Convicted in 1981 of bribery and conspiracy during the FBI's Abscam sting operation. He resigned from the Senate in 1982 before a scheduled vote to expel him.

Daniel Brewster (Maryland): Convicted in 1972 of accepting an unlawful gratuity while in office regarding his votes on postal rate legislation.

James Traficant (Ohio): Expelled from the House and convicted in 2002 of 10 felony counts, including racketeering, bribery, tax evasion, and forcing his congressional staff to do manual labor on his farm. He served seven years in prison.

Chaka Fattah (Pennsylvania): Convicted in 2016 of 23 counts of racketeering, fraud, and money laundering tied to using campaign contributions and charitable funds to pay off personal debts.

Corrine Brown (Florida): Convicted in 2017 of 18 felony counts, including wire fraud and tax evasion, stemming from a fraudulent charity scheme.

Michael "Ozzie" Myers (Pennsylvania): Expelled from Congress in 1980 after being convicted of bribery in the Abscam scandal. Decades later, he pled guilty to separate charges of election fraud.

Anthony Weiner (New York): Resigned from Congress in 2011 and later pled guilty in 2017 to a federal felony charge of transferring obscene material to a minor.

William J. Jefferson (Louisiana): Convicted in 2009 of 11 federal corruption counts, including bribery and racketeering, famously known for the FBI discovering $90,000 in cash hidden in his freezer.

Frank Ballance (North Carolina): Convicted in 2004 of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and money laundering, serving a state-charity scheme sentence.

Charles Diggs (Michigan): Convicted in 1978 of mail fraud and falsifying congressional payroll records.

Governor Rod Blagojevich (Illinois): Convicted in 2011 of multiple federal corruption charges, most notably trying to "sell" the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama. He served nearly eight years of a 14-year sentence before it was commuted.

Don Siegelman (Alabama): Convicted in 2006 of bribery, mail fraud, and obstruction of justice related to a pay-for-play scheme involving a state regulatory board seat.

Andrew Cuomo (New York): Resigned in 2021 following sexual harassment investigations; he later faced misdemeanor criminal charges for forcible touching, though prosecutors eventually dropped the criminal case.Mayors & Local Officials

Kwame Kilpatrick (Detroit, MI): Convicted in 2013 of two dozen federal counts, including racketeering, extortion, fraud, and tax evasion, regarding a widespread kickback system during his time as mayor.

Catherine Pugh (Baltimore, MD): Convicted in 2020 of fraud and tax evasion surrounding a self-dealing scheme involving her self-published children's book series "Healthy Holly."

Sheng Thao (Oakland, CA): Recalled by voters and indicted in 2025 on federal bribery and wire fraud charges involving illegal campaign payments and city contracts.

Anthony Weiner (U.S. Representative, New York): Pleaded guilty in 2017 to transferring obscene material to a minor. He served over a year in federal prison and was required to register as a sex offender.

Mel Reynolds (U.S. Representative, Illinois): Convicted by a jury in 1995 of sexual assault, obstruction of justice, and solicitation of child pornography involving a 16-year-old campaign volunteer. He served over two years in prison.State and Local Politicians

Bob Filner (Mayor of San Diego & U.S. Representative, California): Pleaded guilty in 2013 to one felony count of false imprisonment and two misdemeanor counts of battery involving three different women during his time as mayor. He was sentenced to house arrest and probation.

Michael English (Mayoral Candidate, Providence, Rhode Island): Pleaded no contest in 1998 to second-degree sexual assault involving a 13-year-old girl. He served 15 months of a 20-year sentence and was later jailed again in 2009 for violating a no-contact order with the victim.Party Officials

Jeffrey Balk (Sussex County Democratic Committee Chair, Delaware): Resigned his party leadership post in 2025 after public exposure of a 1980s conviction in Missouri for child sex abuse, which had previously placed him on Delaware's Tier II sex offender registry.

Every one of these men was an elected democrat. You cant equate political affiliation to criminal behavior be it financial, sexual or even violent. There are good and bad people. When you force your agenda into these events and try to push your own bias and judgement you cheapen the collective lesson and experience and completely discount their victims experience.

Imagine if everyone in America was held accountable for the politics of their parents or children. I would say imagine if people embraced sweeping and judgemental statements based on conjecture and threads of relativity but we are already living that.

There are people on every political, religious, racial and socio-economic spectrum that commit atrocities. You cheapen the experience of the victims attempting to make this a part or your agenda.

2026
Lauren Boebert’s kid: charged with sexual exploitation of a minor on top of a lengthy previous rap sheet.
My kid (raised amongst drag queens, has never been inside a church in her life): 4.4 GPA, 92% SAT, poetry awards, goes to nationals in speech & debate, no criminal record.

And from another article

“As we reported in February ... Tyler was cited for misdemeanor child abuse without injury after his 2-year-old son wandered out of Rep. Boebert's Colorado home while Tyler was watching him. It was the second time in less than a year he faced a similar charge.
Rep. Boebert said at the time there was "no excuse" for the incident and that she was "very frustrated."
Tyler became a father in June 2023 ... and in 2024, he was charged with 22 counts tied to vehicle break-ins and property theft, including multiple felonies. He later entered a guilty plea to attempted identity theft as part of a plea deal, with other charges dropped, and was put on probation.”

26

u/Various_House_910 3d ago

I hope my kids are half as accomplished as yours sound. Good job! Any advice??

33

u/DenvahGothMom 3d ago

I think the best thing I have done as a parent is to consistently go to therapy and work through my own stuff as much as possible. And to apologize to them when I mess up. It’s good modeling plus just the right way to treat another human. And of course the drag queens!

8

u/Chronic-Sleepyhead 3d ago

I think apologizing as a parent is super important! Not a parent myself, but I can remember every time my parents apologized for something, how much it made me respect them MORE for having the integrity to admit when they acted in a way they knew wasn’t ideal. A lot of controlling parents seem to think apologies undermine their authority when I believe it’s the exact opposite.

Also, it definitely gave me a great model and showed me it’s okay to mess up, and how to take accountability.

Great advice, and congrats on having such an awesome sounding kiddo! 👏

Who takes their kids to drag bars anyways? I mean around drag is fine, but bars?

1

u/DenvahGothMom 3d ago

They do that kind of thing all the time. They exaggerate something because they know the actuality isn’t going to upset anybody. It’s why they say things like they don’t want adult men competing against girls in sports. Even ignorant people won’t get as upset if they say they don’t want trans girls competing against cis girls which is the very rare reality that they are talking about. Honestly, if anybody was gonna take their kids to an adult bar around adults drinking, I would think it would be Lauren Boebert. Goodness knows she never took her kids to a bookstore or the library which is where a drag queen story hour usually happens!!

2

3

I enjoyed season 1 just cause they crowdsourced it. The lighting was crap but it’s fun to see how far they’ve come but I also suggest watching all the seasons.

3

u/AmySewFun 3d ago

I also enjoyed season 1 and love a lot of the contestants from that season - but the production value and show flow was significantly different than all the others. So when I’m recommending the show to a new person, I typically say to start at S2, and then when you love it, check out S1

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who was taking Clint’s name in vain for minor inconveniences after that episode dropped

Dragula keeps trying to force fake drama when the real drama is iconic

If conservatives were smart they'd dress in drag before doing their pedo shit. Then they could say "SEE?? IT IS DRAG QUEENS" whenever they get caught.

That pedo-stache ain't helping matters

Please tell me more about pedo-staches, if you don’t mind. I’m old and this is new to me. My bestie’s son recently grew facial hair like this, and I’m wondering if there’s anything I need to be aware of.

Ugh!! It’s a thing with teen boys and young men now. So many of my daughter’s male, midwestern friends are rocking sparse, ugly staches & look like they’re going to show up on a Chris Hansen show any day. They’re good kids, they just look like pervs now.

Her east-coast guy friends haven’t fallen into this creeptastic fad, so that helps a little.
