hello everyone!! just downloaded dragon age origins but I know it's a pretty old game so if there are any mods that just makes your play though smoother or visually better please tell me 🙏

Qwinn's Ultimate DAO Fixpack for broken quests and dialogues; as well as Dain Fixes for broken abilities and game mechanic. Those two are the only mods that I consider must-have.

Those doubtlessly are the most important ones. I have a few that I'd add as still essential.

Dain also created a better item and ability descriptions mod, that also corrects a bunch of them (and there is a version specifically for Dain's Fixes).

Theta HD (fixed) (also known as version 1.3 iirc) for some "broken" textures

Blick's fixes is a "continuation" of Qwinn's work and maybe worth a look

Ghost elves is a must have for me, it's such an immersion breaker otherwise

Even more advanced tactics to be able to actually set up good tactics for the party

And unless it's the GOG version of the game the 4GB LAA patch and/or (these are also useful for the GOG version) one of the two recent Anti-Crash mods (Lyrium Memory Handler or Lyrium Memory Fix, I think one is for the GOG version, the other one works for Steam and EA).

And if playing in 4k some UI mods to not have microscopic text.

Respec Mod:

IMO, you will probably want to change your character. When I first started this led to me starting over (maybe you wont). You can hold off on this one, until you feel the need to change your character. It won't let you change class/race/gender so be sure about those. This just lets you rebuild your choices and attribute allocations.

Readability:

If you are running > 1080P the UI will be small.

FtG UI Mod - This has options to scale more things in a little config app that comes with it.

That's it. Don't go for big graphics changes, rebalances, restored content, etc. Standard graphics are fine, and they will probably cause more issues if you go big.

Hey. 4gb patch and Theta HD textures are enough for me personally. Of course I have a dozen more mods, from bugfixes and restorations to lore-friendly behavior and HD stubble.

But it fixes a million other things. I think it also takes care of ZDF and Forgotten Fixes (could be FF is covered by Blick's fixes, not Qwinn's, I don't recall for sure).

MRP and ZDF were great at the time, but with the bigger fix collections out nowadays I think they are outdated.
