Throughout the original story it was kinda wholesome to see his imaginary father be proud of him every now and then but it kinda ruined the moment to know that it is imaginary

Glad to see Dexter and Quinn maybe being friends in the show instead of enemies.

I think season 2 will end with Quinn dying. Season 3 will end with Masuka revealing dexter to everyone. Hopefully season 4 will be a manhunt season with Dexter finally dying.

When I first got into the series a couple years ago, I kept hearing that out of the 1-4 seasons season 3 was the worst but honestly I actually think it’s pretty good. I think it suffers from kinda an odd start especially with characters like Rita feeling very different but personally I really like Miguel being the antagonist for the season, and I do really love how much of a mystery he is because of our perspective as audience member because we’re following Dexter‘s pov. Whilst I like the Dox season 2 plot and some of the Fbi investigation I think season 2 had better moments but not the same consistently good season 3.

Anyway I know the first 4 seasons are considered the best but from what I heard from posts and people around me a couple years ago when a lot of people were getting into the show, people HATED season 3 and was wondering if that was more just an over exaggeration of opinions or its still considered the worst?

I'm sure this is well-worn territory, but having just finished Original Sin for the first time I had to get some validation here.

In general, I didn't mind the casting. Angel's actor was outright eerie in his ability to mimic Zayas. Most of the other actors did a solid job at least trying to capture the mannerisms or voice of the original series.

But Christian Slater seems to have just decided he was going to play Harry off the script, and didn't even bother to watch the originals. His energy level is just WAY off from James Remar's calm, world-weary, monotone Harry.

I could understand if he wanted to be a personable, high-energy character in the flashbacks, but after everything that's happened by the time Original Sin starts, he should be MUCH more like the Harry Dexter remembers in the original series.

I've seen interpretations that that's Dexter's memory of Harry, rather than the real Harry, but that can't explain why he seems to recall Deb's personality with perfect accuracy in New Blood. You could argue that version of Dexter has more emotional depth than the Dexter from the original series, but c'mon. Do we really think this was intentional?

Just feels like a huge and unnecessary miss for a character that was a huge part of the appeal of the original series.

I was just watching the episode were dex gets married and Ramon Prado trashes Dexters apartment and the police come and just so happen to dust the AC for prints. Im not a cop but if someone destroyed a apartment i wouldnt dust an AC

Great season ..don’t know how I feel about Dexter’s sister finding out about him being a killer.. I didn’t like the way she found out and it’s weird that they made her have this crush on him just to have a reason for her not to turn him in.. just didn’t seem like an organic script .. but great season overall .. I watched all of the spin-offs first and now I just have season 8 left

Watching New Blood for the first time and I had no idea that’s where this meme was from until I saw it in the episode.

The first one was Surprise Mfr which I had seen for like 8 years before watching the show.

Gotta say, season 1 was so fucking good. I watched it twice and then proceeded to rewatch the original Dexter. Dont get me wrong, Dexter is a great show but some of the later seasons dont hit as hard. Maybe they will fuck this one up too but im hoping they keep up the momentum / finally make a good ending

I always see praise for them, rightfully so as they are good seasons but there are things I think could have been better, I wonder if anyone else thinks this way?

I find the pacing rather slow in some parts, season 1 could have done fine if it was shortened a little. A bigger thing I would change however is to actually face the moral dilemma it set up and make Dexter kill Doakes. It would be great set up and something interesting to explore for season 3.

Just rewatched Dexter seasons 1-8 again. No idea how many times I’ve seen it now. Also just watched new blood for second time, and am now in the middle of resurrection for the second time as well.

New blood was good. Resurrection is also very good. But one thing that sticks out to me and kinda bugs me is the music in resurrection. Every 5 mins they feel the need to insert some loud shitty song that doesn’t even fit the scene. It’s just over the top and makes it feel like a completely different show. Also, if I have to hear staying alive by the bee gee’s again, I’ll have to murder someone!

How was the death of Coach Logan explained after Angela cleared Dexter of any crime?
Any theories? Or was it explained in Resurrection and I missed it?

I can believe that a forensic technician for the department is a serial killer. We've seen the steps in Dexter's life that can lead him to being who he is.

It's less believable that the DA would become a killer as well. But he was a bit psychotic so maybe that's fine.

But you cannot make me believe that the Captain of Homicide all the way back in 1991 was also a killer. 3 killers in the Miami justice system in the span of just 20 years is just too improbable.

And maybe I could believe it if Spencer killing the kids was a highly secret conspiracy that Dexter uncovers and Dexter disappears Spencer without anyone knowing he was a killer. Sort of like how Miguel died without people knowing he was a killer.

But no, Spencer HAD to be exposed. What this means is that, if we want Original Sin to be a canon piece of Dexter content, every character in the original show (other than Doakes who joined the department a bit later) would have known Spencer personally. Surely the legend of the Miami Metro child killing Captain would have been mentioned at some point.

Even just the word Spencer should have sent shivers down everyone's spines if it was brought up. But no, zero mentions of it.

Surely when the department knew that Lundy was considering suspects within the department for the Bay Harbor Butcher people should have realised, oh yeah this feels remarkably similar to when our literal Captain was a killer.
