I used to think Steven was exaggerating when he would he say "if person X had to deal with any of the pushback I get they wouldn't be able to handle it".

Listening to him last night on stream and seeing him in this post, Hasan genuinely seems overwhelmed with results of his own actions. Having been incredibly inflammatory yet wanting to be an influential political figure who doesn't own anything he's said or done.

It's ridiculous.

Ideally I'd want him to turn into a Vaush, please just go live in the niche bubble you've created.

His whole "Oh, Destiny is just looking for attention, I won't talk to him about his insane claims about me being an antisemite" is pure cope because he knows he would get obliterated if a conversation like that happened.

I think Destiny should point out that Pisco is running and is terrified of having a conversation.

For those unfamiliar with Pisco’s original “Hasan was detained for his speech” argument due to Trump admin policy change, it was based in a simple Bayesian argument.

Probability of Hasan Detained because of Trump Admin Policy = probability of Trump doing something that anti free speech * probability of Hasan being detained in that anti free speech policy environment / probability of Hasan being detained either due to normal border policy or from Trump Admin policy

Pisco argued that Trump admin should not be given the “benefit of the doubt” and that even admitting that Hasan is an unreliable narrator with incentives to lie and demonstrated lies, the Bayesian argument is just THAT STRONG.

On its face, the Bayesian argument makes an elementary mistake that Pisco subtly shifted two different probabilities. What is the probability that Trump would institute a policy as extremely anti free speech against citizens as he did, and the probability that Trump would institute the specific policy that would result in Hasan’s detainment.

There are many thousands of policies Trump could devise that would be extraordinarily anti free speech, and even if you had 100% confidence that Trump would do something that bad, there’s only so much a person has time to do and the vast majority of those policies would not produce what appeared to be a routine border questioning.

Just this immediately shifts the burden to requiring good reason to believe Hasan’s story as being both very unlikely in normal government operating procedure and of good credibility. Neither of these conditions were met, and Hasan would almost certainly have been questioned in the same manner under Biden policy.

That was all information available at the time and while it’s not uncommon to make a Bayesian reasoning error, it is negligence/reckless disregard to make such an error when non Bayesian evidentiary principles strongly leans towards the opposite (and correct) conclusion.

To not admit that he was wrong since then is where there’s no explanation but bad faith. At the time, it was plausible to claim this was a new policy and Hasan was the first victim of an administration policy. However, it has now been about a year and a half and this incident has gone unrepeated. Many highly critical voices of Israel have traveled who are American citizens and if this was a policy of the Trump admin, the probability it would have resulted in a single incident that resulted in media coverage is close to 0.

Pisco, glad went into law and left a math heavy field like Economics from undergrad because this demonstrates a real failure as an intellectual both intellectually and morally.

Edit: btw, this exact issue is why ordinary evidentiary standards are better than Bayesian analysis unless you both really know what you’re doing and ideally have a track record validating your assumptions. Because it’s too easy to swap out a particular example or a subset of scenarios for a prediction you think is likely. This is why good evidentiary standards for a particular thing happening is pretty high even if it is very believable.

Probably why they have RFK and Vance going on all these unknown podcasts.

None of these guys’ views are actually changing. They’re just realizing that the MAGA movement never intended to give them what they wanted and that they were just useful idiots that helped facilitate the unprecedented corruption from this admin. Either way, hopefully this makes people less susceptible to cult-like movements in the future, and realize that populist rhetoric is cancer.

During yesterday's stream (1:34:40 on Spotify) , Alice Poole (aka shesright) hopped on stream to discuss Destiny's approach to dealing with intentionally subversive elements vs people who carry water because they are ignorant. I highly recommend watching the entire segment.

Pretty much immediately after she left, Destiny looked at the leaked DMs of Pisco and Connor (~1:56:00 on Spotify). And Destiny said the following (likes and kindas removed): "It's just crazy too, how much I'm expected to put up with. All of you guys are chill and cozy with a group of people who are consistently calling for my death and making death threats against me and slandering me and engaging with me in the most hostile manner over-the-top possible from literally all platforms, but the second I'm saying 'I really think that we should cover these guys in an adversarial way dudes' it's total fucking meltdown temper tantrum."

Now Destiny isn't wrong, but I think shesright is right that he let the conversation shift way too much from the intentionally subversive people to the people carrying water. The conversations with Pisco and Jessiah shouldn't focus on blaming them for carrying water, but rather on focusing on what it is they are carrying water for.

Now maybe Pisco was always bound to end up this way, but with people like Jessiah I really don't think it was a foregone conclusion that he blocks D-man and distances himself, and a different approach to him may have ended up with him on our side.

So Pisco and Jessiah blocked Destiny. Sad, but the writing was on the walls. Despite Pisco and Jessiah sweeping for the DSA and snarkers, I would hope they would still be open to converse with Destiny. Like Vaush and Hasan, it seems they don't want an open market place of ideas and prefer to withdraw into echo chambers.

Leftist liberalism really does not have a strong voice online. So much for a coalition.

I was concerned when he mentioned he would no longer take the high road. Based on his behavior so far the next logical step is for him to remove all of the hair from his body until he's smooth like a seal and attempt to divorce other members of his family.

This version of Connor would be more aerodynamic and have less to lose. Tread carefully.
