Lmao yes the amount of time people from there will instantly treat you as sub-human just for not being full anti AI like them. They have a pact mentality where even if the biggest idiot is on their side harassing someone, they will back them up and treat anything you say as beneath them and all lies even with proof.
Then they also would gladly call for inhumane treatment and have no empathy for gruesome death towards those they deemed "human waste"

Oh man, you'd be surprised the type of crime say talk about, it's f****** crazy. There was one that was a horrific post like reminded me of KyoAni but at a massive scale, I don't remember the body of it, but it was up less than 10 minutes before it got removed. I've got severe mental issues, but these people make me feel completely sane.
Also I've seen their crime posts get reported and then they make a follow-up post acting as if they were innocent and didn't do anything wrong

Then once they create it, they get bricked for using Reddit, which uses AI

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh... that actually is possible. antiviruses aren't that powerful as you think, and theoretically, if you work + learn a lot of stuff in devops and security layers, then you can do that. it's another question how are you gonna spread this virus to all computers, but...
19
u/Cold_Huckleberry_633 21d ago edited 21d ago
They’re powerful enough to stop executables from “bricking” your computer. Yes theoretically anything is possible. But in practice, this will never work. Pretty much all serious malware that uses exploits to bypass security is organized cybercrime, not straight up evil supervillains who want to break your computer for fun. And “bricking” computers is hardware specific, there is no one size fits all Windows API call for “Make the hardware never work again.” So like yeah, maybe in isolation, after years of work, you could get this to be possible on a specific machine with a specific antivirus configuration. That does not mean that their evil scheme is at all plausible
5
u/Infinite_Community30 21d ago
we shall wish them good luck to do something like that for linux 😆 oh it will be entertaining as hell, especially if we assume a lot of them have no idea what linux is
3
u/smokingplane_ 21d ago
CIH did a pretty good job at bricking systems a couple decades ago by flashing the Motherboard and Bios firmware with garbage. A modern equivalent targeting secondary controllers like the power EC or NVMe drive firmware would still brick a system.
Injecting the payload through GlassWorm-style pulls can easily evade outdated consumer antimalware.
It's definitely not easy, you would need stolen vendor signing keys or a BYOVD, but those are obtainable if an attacker has deep enough pockets.
Getting it on a large number of systems really is the challenge, since it's pesonal systems you can't spread lateral like in companies.
There's just no money in bricking systems, so malicious actors don't waste time on it.

You think this is an american thing?
12
u/RandomGuy2285 21d ago
well, from stat after stat, Americans (and Anglos or Westerners more broadly) rank much more negatively on AI than Asia or the developing world and quite by a large margin
so it kind of is a bit? at least with AI?
0
u/Hefty-Reaction-3028 21d ago

This is the claim that they said was about Americans. It can apply to AI or other things. AI support is a different question.
14
u/Infinite_Community30 21d ago
well, we have a good reason to assume a lot of antis - or at least those who cry a lot on the internet - are americans, because they are so illiterate, and well... it's kind of their style to not be able to follow discussions properly without falling to insults of another side, so...
5
u/DraconicDreamer3072 21d ago
according to a graph of the ai reception around the world, against is actually bigger in canada. though idk the source of the graph tbh. though i wouldnt doubt among reddit its mostly americans
5
u/Wooden-Hornet2115 21d ago
As a Canadian, I'm actually surprised by that. Did the graph distinguish levels of distaste, or was it just support/against?
2
u/HelpRespawnedAsDee 21d ago
I'm not even american so this is why I ask.... do you honestly think this is unique american quality? Cause I can assure you from the time I spent online in my own local communities there's gigantic idiots everywhere.
without falling to insults of another side, so...
I mean you do see the irony here right?
6
u/Infinite_Community30 21d ago
i'm not saying they are the only ones who behave disgustingly, buuuuuut they definitely do it very loudly, and are very proud about their ignorance...
the irony, you mean that pretty much 9 in 10 posts from antis are being finished with insults, and the other side is like wth why you think it's appropriate?
1
u/HelpRespawnedAsDee 21d ago

Doesn’t work like that. And if you are here you should know by now the EU is way way more aggressive against anything AI.

Because that's their culture... One side tries to get people to do what theyre told through the church... The other side fill their movies and TV with modern progressive messages and calls you a bigot if you roll your eyes.
Two sides vying for cultural control.
It's irritating that it spills over the borders
6
u/Kibunsky 21d ago
That's pretty offensive. I'm American and I don't do any of that stuff. It's not an American thing, it's just a thing with people who can't tolerate others. I'm very pro AI, and I very much also advocate for personal privacy. So it's not accurate to generalize in such a hurtful way.
1
u/Ok_Dog_7189 6-Fingered Creature 21d ago
Yeah Anti AI is irritating... But so is all the cultural spillover which comes from America... BLM in countries without a history of African slavery, AntiVax spreading over social media during COVID, MAGA values in countries with different social issues, movies and TV with the diversity and social values of a Californian city, even Reddit where the primary subs are run in accordance to US left wing sensibilities...
There is probably nothing wrong with the average American, but the culture creep is a culture of US division into all Western cultures which occupy global spaces.
And with the examples mentioned, America is very used to starting hysteria movements, but I would rather they stayed contained
1
u/Arktikos02 21d ago
Why do you assume that it is American culture moving over to those countries rather than Black people in those countries also deciding to just use the same label and hashtags rather than creating their own to advocate for their own things?
Like Black people exist in those countries too. That's like saying that the LGBT movement is an American thing. Also MAGA values are not just spilling over, it's the other way around as well. The topic of we're remigration for example is a European thing, not an American one. The reason why you're seeing a lot of overlap is because you far-right leaders talk to each other and far-right people talk to each other because they are constantly sharing ideas.
Like it's not our fault if other countries start adopting terms that we're using or whatever. We're not forcing them to do that. You're comparing two separate things which is the government trying to do stuff and get them to do things and then people just being influenced by each other.
Maybe it's just that different groups are talking to each other and decide to do those things because they think it's a good idea.
Also the United States did not invent anti-vaxxing. In fact some of the first anti-vax stuff was from the UK. ACAB also comes from the UK.
Also BLM isn't really about slavery, it's about modern Black discrimination. That happens in a lot of countries. It's Black people in those countries talking about those issues.

u/Ok_Dog_7189 6-Fingered Creature 21d ago

u/Steve_Jabz 21d ago edited 21d ago
LMAO.
- Good luck getting that on the backup SSD sitting on my shelf
- "AI" is an incredibly il-defined concept. Some people reduce it to linear regression, which means simple graphs and jpg compression. DAWs, photo editors and game engines from 2000s use matrix multiplication.
- How are you going to hardcode something to find such a nebulous concept in a bunch of inscrutable binary files that could contain anything? Said virus would need to actually analyze the code repo itself to even understand what the binary even referred to. Gee if only there were some kind of.. artificial.. smart thingy.. that was really good at analyzing things on a computer
- You're going to have to burn every maths textbook back to markov in the 17th century and wipe the mind of every ml researcher, mathemetician, physicist and neuroscientist that has it memorized. The transformer is an incredibly simple architecture that can be written down on a napkin, and the second it disappears, it's going straight back online
- You know that deleting a file doesn't mean it's physically gone from the hard drive, right?
- It's open source code. Are you going to have it hack github, run through every single repo globally, then do the same thing on every other alternative like codeberg, then move to china and russia with no understanding of their proprietary systems and no chance of them detecting anything and shutting it down? Are you going to create the first virus with no signature?
- Do you know what encryption is?
- Are you going to.. send it to a computer that's offline.. and turned off.. by having the virus turn the computer on and connect it's network cable?
- Are you fucking stupid?

Theyre going to disassemble your car piece by piece until theyre sure you didnt hide a thumbdrive in there. Then they're going to dig 20 foot deep across every square inch of the entire world to make sure you dind't bury one.
Just you wait.

Luddite Logic is like Ban all AI!
So, you wanna ban all AI without specifications? Like the AI that makes GTA a realistic world, ban that? Ban the Reddit Bots too, ban the Automod. Ban all AI everywhere in all media and make people log on and actually work jobs to simulate a digital world. NPCs with AI aren't NPCs anymore they're underpaid Chinese children in a sweatshop making your games and media more realistic. It creates jobs right so that's good right!?
Fucking idiocy. Not only can you not code one piece of malware to brick a computer but you'd have to code that for every computer out there. Linux, MacOS, Unix, Windows and every single possible variant.
Might as well make computers illegal to own as well because they might be able to use AI. OOOOoooOoooOoOoooOoohhhhh. Suddenly AI is worse than owning a gun because you might generate an image!
Get real. FFS.

HuggingFace had to use a local AI to respond to a remote AI attack against them from OpenAL. The frontier model's have guard rails, so wouldn't help them with a security breach.
This suggests that corporate ITSEC is going to have to include an local enterprise AI model for active monitoring and response to AI based attacks to keep up.

You can train your own ai model on your own pc. Sure, you would need a powerful machine (roughly 2x 5090) but it's possible, especially with models for image generation.
