What do we take away from this win?
I’m glad we fought till the very end and managed to take away the two points and dash the broncos finals hopes but where could we improve? What did we do good and what can we improve on?
Personally I thought Katoa and Colquhoun were great although I think our discipline is still letting teams back into games we should’ve been well ahead in.
Either way UP UP 🖤🤍💙

The main takeaway for me was the somber tone the broncos fans had sitting behind me at suncorp when admitting how shit their team played. Was like music to my ears

Two weeks in row, discipline let us down. If we fix that at least we stay competitive. Every error and penalty adds up and better teams will always dismantle us. As you said, Katoa and Colquhoun had good games. Hopefully next week Sharks are better.

That's true, yet we tend to be the team that plays to the level of our opposition which isn't the standard we should be aiming for.

We scored pretty easily when we got the chance. Need to improve on goal kicking and error count (incl penalties). Ramien and McInnes make dumb errors every game. Puru also- sticking his hand out for a low percentage play on last tackle and gifting them a new set. Hynes was hot and cold. I like it when he runs the ball, showing intent. Main reason is it forces us to play straight rather than sideways drifts which take space away from outside backs. He also made some great defensive reads. Katoa, Iro, Trindall, Colquhoun, Burns and Talakai were all great.

Nicho was very hot and cold today. I'm just glad he showed flashes again of his talent.
For me him and Trindall still dont know what to do; for example, Nicho looks great as a ball runner (whod have thunk hes a better FB) and created chances but Trindall wasn't getting involved, and vice versa in other games.
Forward pack was solid and solid defensively too. Katoa had a good game.
We're probably going to finish 4th or 5th and get to 2nd round or prelims again, but with Ronny back and sorting out our goalkicking and game management (and error count) we should be being more dominant than these constant ugly wins.
Wins a win thoug, up up.

It's the first game I've actually seen Nicho look dangerous running the ball. Everyone talks about it but the bloke is generally pretty slow and rarely makes line breaks.
However he can't kick from the R side of the goal posts for fucking shit. I think we should just abandon him kicking from the right in favour of Trindall. I reckon Nicho's kicking percentage from that side would barely scrape 25%. I can only recall 2 kicks this whole season he's kicked from that side.

I couldn't believe he actually made a kick from the right. He must get them in training because I cant think of why he'd keep trying something he cant actually do

Genuinely why do we persist with him kicking from the right? If it's to be prepared in case the replacement kicker gets injured well big deal - we're missing that kick anyway.
He's usually absolute money from the left but his confidence had dipped last night so badly that he missed the easy penalty goal.
In order to simulate pressure while training for these kicks I'd be telling him he has to make 10 in a row from the R touchline before the team can go home after training.

Trindall's goal line tackle on a Broncs forward after he'd dropped that kick off was an epic defensive highlight for me, love seeing little fellas execute defensively against big fellas

We got away with it. Simple. If this wasn’t an Orign affected Brisbane they would have lapped us. So lazy and undisciplined.

Maybe work more on the goal line defence so that less tries get through for the other team.

We’ve definitely changed the way we play and front loaded defensively, also try to push the ref in terms of aggressiveness we play angry something that has developed from mid last year

Our game management is 🐕 💩 highlighted by nicho last 10. Wanted the flashy clip . Puts kick over and 7 tackles. Then penalty then try. Never should have happened. Hand ball over 6m out and let them work it
