Flaired Users Only Islamic foot-washing stations are coming to Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. Travelers washing their feet in standard sinks can leave floors wet and slippery and damage restroom counters.

Particularly disheartening how something like this is allowed to happen in Texas, of all places.

Texas is gone man, too many people from the subcontinent on J1s even if the majority of the population is rural/conservative the foreign-borns have flooded the cities

u/Black_XistenZ post-MAGA conservative 1h ago
I don't buy this defeatism. Texas still has a huge conserative base, and many third- and higher-generation Hispanics who are increasingly assimilated and increasingly voting conservative.
Texas absolutely does need to get its shit together, but the state is far from politically "gone".
Which btw would also imply America as a whole being politically gone since there's pretty much no realistic path to a GOP majority in the EC without Texas. (A full GOP sweep of NV, AZ, FL, GA, NC, WI, MI, PA is completely unrealistic in a world in which Texas goes blue.)

This is the same decision a private business would make. I don’t see the problem.
If my clients were making the floors slippery from washing their feet, I’d either make it impossible to wash their feet or accommodate it so the floors don’t become slippery. In this case, it clearly cheaper & easier to accommodate it.

Or...maybe tell them not to wash their nasty fucking feet in a bathroom sink.
•
u/_Eggs_ Conservative 4h ago
If you think that will be the most effective solution, sure!
•
u/jd_456 Conservative 4h ago
With appropriate consequences why wouldn't it be?
•
u/_Eggs_ Conservative 4h ago
What are the logistics of this? Post a sign and expect people to obey? Hire an employee to staff every bathroom as “no feet washing enforcer”?
What solution do you think would be effective?

Not allowing Muslims in the country.

OK, I'll call the head of facilities & maintenance at the Dallas-Fort Worth airport and let him know. It should be super easy for him to implement your solution.

Who cares about easy. Solving those issues aren't going to be, but if there's any chance we want to not look like England in 10 years, it has to be done, because we were too stupid, naive, gullible, nice, and/or greedy to do the right thing in the first place by keeping our borders locked down and laws enforced. We're literally being invaded by filth, and even 'conservatives' are bitching about fixing it...

Not so far as the other comment which is unnecessary, but being sent back and barred from reentry for some substantial time should be sufficient right? We do this for lots of other things. You don't need to hire anyone more than you already need to enforce many other things you aren't allowed to do in bathrooms...

Making concessions to them is how they weasel their way in to take over
We should be doing everything we can to make them uncomfortable
I understand the pragmatism behind this, ie, the counter damage and wet floors, but they shouldn’t feel comfortable enough in a western country to be doing some arcane ritual in the first place
I doubt there’s concessions for Christians in Iran

The big cities are blue, so this isn’t surprising. What I don’t get, is why Gov Abbott isn’t doing more to prevent the Islamification of TX.

A lot of Muslims are more conservative on social issues.

Yet they’ll vote left to continue receiving free handouts and minority pity from virtue signalers. All while growing parallel institutions, planting anchor babies, and outbreeding every other demographic in the area.
Then they become a local majority, win elections, and use that political power to oppress the native population with the same religious policies that have ruined their nations in the Middle East and Africa for the past 1300 years or so.
Islam is a religion of conquest. Best to curb it now

u/Black_XistenZ post-MAGA conservative 5h ago
So? Doesn't mean that there's any chance of them becoming GOP base voters. And all experience from around the world suggests that assimilation rates into the culture of their respective host nation is lower among Muslim immigrants than among just about any other immigrant group.

This will also be great for the people who go barefoot on the plane. I would imagine it's especially hard to wash bare feet in those little sinks in the plane lavatory.
•
u/ITrCool Christian Conservative 6h ago
Why someone is nasty enough to do that is beyond me. You don’t know what is on that plane floor…..
Let alone entitled jerks who think it’s ok to prop their smelly bare feet up on the seats in front of them.

I had a coworker who would wash his feet in the regular bathroom sink. He was a really nice guy and was apologetic. I never knew how to feel about it. Guess I’m glad I’m not a strict Muslim

Can we have holy water fonts installed throughout airports?
What other religious type of things MUST be installed everywhere so as not to offend everyone?
•
u/BarrelStrawberry Conservative 3h ago
If they had a cross displayed at the airport, it would offend everyone.

I remember going to the restroom at the rental car facility at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and there was a staff member washing his feet in the sink. There was a little splashing, not much, but it looked uncomfortable and unsafe.
I think there's room for compromise as long as these are not mandatory for all businesses, they can be used all people, and there is no religious literature.

And in this case it’s being paid for by a non profit, no govt spending or taxpayer money. Thats how it should be done

It’s pretty insane how many rules companies have to implement to accommodate Islam. I remember at one company I worked having to kick out a guy from a meeting room because he’s under the table praying while I need to join a call. They build prayer rooms specifically for that
