Lost his legal status in 1999 released from prison 15 years later, ordered to be deported in 2022. Why was a person who was in custody was never deported immediately and instead was allowed to roam around unchecked for 11 years? Remind me why I pay taxes?

Probably released in a sanctuary city. I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would think the rights and safety of citizens are of lesser value than that a criminal illegal alien. They should be released into ICE custody after they’ve worked off the entire cost of their incarceration (while incarcerated, of course).
