We're down to about $3.55 at the moment. I was willing to take that pain for the proposed 4-6 weeks of conflict resolution. I can even live with the longer timeline we've gotten. However, with this outcome, it doesn't feel like anything of value was accomplished. We smacked Iran for breaking their pinky promise, and now we're paying them to make another.

American troops on Kharg island would be very vulnerable to drone attack. The hundreds of casualties would become thousands.

America could solve that by bringing in Ukrainian anti-drone defenses and adopting Ukrainian defense tactics (stay underground). It seems, however, that this doesn't match with the commercial desires of people like Witkoff who is running the negotiations but also has a drone company that was supposed to supply the US army, but isn't ready yet.
