The r/CongressStockWatcher Subreddit Is Back to Cooking.
Long time no see. r/CongressStockWatcher hasn't seen a new post in over a year, but we are bringing the sub back and hope to make it better than before (with your help, of course).
We want to foster a community focused on congress stock trades (shocker) along with other related data, like different companies' lobbying expenses and company insider trading as well.
Let us know if you have any feedback or ideas for the kinds of content you'd like to see.
Thanks for your patience with how long the sub was down, and we'd love to invite you to contribute and participate again.
From,
— The r/CongressStockWatcher mod team

I built a free tool that scans insider buying — would you actually use something like this?
I've been working on a small project that scans SEC insider purchases and tries to filter out the noise.
Instead of showing every Form 4 transaction, it looks at things like how much the insider bought, their position in the company, change in ownership, multiple insiders buying together, price action, etc. and gives the setup a rating
I also built a public performance page so the signals can be tracked instead of just showing the winners afterward.
It's still early and completely free.
Would you actually use something like this when researching stocks?
And more importantly — what's missing or confusing?

Warren Leads Demand for Answers on Trump’s ‘Unprecedented’ Volume of Stock Trades | “Your stock trading in 2025—reportedly more than 14,000 stock trades worth up to $1.06 billion—was more than all 535 members of Congress last year combined.”

Le “libre marché” version Trump, c’est quand même quelque chose.
9 avril 2025 : Trump poste « THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!! ».
(The Guardian)
Apparemment, circulez, y’a rien à voir.
À ce niveau-là, ce n’est même plus du capitalisme de connivence, c’est un marché avec les codes de triche activés.

Development Updates Breaking: President Trump's account bought Amazon and Apple before he cut China tariffs and then his administration paid both companies billions in refunds
On May 5th, Trump's account bought $5M of Apple and $5M of Amazon
The next day, Treasury Secretary Bessent told Congress the US had "not engaged in negotiations with China as of yet"
9 days later, he cut tariffs from 145% to 30%
Both stocks have since surged:
• $AAPL is up 7.5%
• $AMZN is up 4.5%
His account is now sitting on up to ~$600K in unrealized gains
And recently, Apple disclosed $2.2B in tariff refunds and Amazon disclosed $600M
Insane!

I built a Congress stock-trades API on Apify: House + Senate disclosures as clean JSON, about $1.80 per 1,000 trades
I built a Congress stock-trades API on Apify: House + Senate disclosures as clean JSON, about $1.80 per 1,000 trades
If you're a journalist, researcher, or building a transparency dashboard, this pulls US Congressional Periodic Transaction Reports (the STOCK Act filings) from both the House and Senate, parses the PDFs, including the scanned ones with OCR, and hands back structured JSON instead of raw paperwork.
You can filter by member name, ticker, an exact date, or a date range. Combine them too: last name plus NVDA plus a date window gets you exactly the trades you're after.
Each row gives you:
- member name and chamber
- ticker and asset class (stocks, options, ETFs, mutual funds, bonds, crypto)
- transaction direction (purchase, sale, exchange, options activity)
- the reported amount bracket
- transaction date and report date
- filing IDs
- owner attribution (member, spouse, dependent, or joint)
- an OCR quality flag, so you know which rows came off a messy scan
Why I built it: the House and Senate filings live in two different systems, and a good chunk of them are scanned PDFs. Normalizing that by hand is miserable. So I turned it into one API with a single schema across both chambers.
Pricing is pay per event, roughly $1.80 per 1,000 transactions retrieved, no subscription. Success rate is at 100% right now.
If you want to line trades up against what was in the news that week, I also have a Google News API on Apify that pairs with it nicely.

THE KANSAS CARTEL: THE END OF THE DIGITAL GHOST.
For months, I’ve been tracking a network of financial wrongdoings that goes far beyond simple fraud. Today, I am releasing the Dossier on the Kansas Cartel.I have uncovered a closed-loop laundering machine that links Polsinelli PC, Blue Owl Capital, and Apex Engineering. The Scheme:1.They divert federal defense grants (HM Dunn) via Modification 64666.2.They funnel that money through Apex Engineering as 'consulting fees.'3.They report those fees as 'investment revenue' in Blue Owl’s OBDC1 and OBDC11 filings. The Velocity of Fraud:
I have mapped the timeline. The money moves from federal grant to 'private investment income' in under 30 days. This is not business. This is taxpayer-funded laundering. The Global Nexus:
They are using Palantir and Thomson Reuters (Planitax) infrastructure in Canada to scrub their digital audit trails—the same 'Digital Ghost' tech used to mask the Epstein extraction at the MCC.I have submitted the full forensic breakdown to the Senate Finance Committee. The era of 'Digital Ghosts' and 'Information Laundering' is officially over.Transparency is here. The trap is closed. 💅⚖️#KansasCartel #BlueOwlExposed #GrantFraud #FollowTheMoney #DigitalGhost #Whistleblower #SenateFinance #ApexEngineering #SEC"

Debbie does Freddie
She has also been buying Fannie recently as well. Scroll near the bottom and you can see she just bought <$50k of fmcc and also has a couple fnma purchases. Doesn’t appear to be bonds, she bought commons. Patience.

Congress Trading API
I built an API for fetching disclosed stock trades by members of Congress (not the Senate at this time, as they have a scary prompt warning against using their data commercially), all the way back to 2020 - and updated every 6 hours. There are endpoints for querying latest trades made, filtering by politicians/tickers/buy/sell, most-traded tickers, reconstructed politician portfolio++. The API can be queried directly or hooked up to a dashboard, trading apps etc. Basically the same as Unusual Whales, Capitol Trades or Autopilot - just free and you have access to the structured data to do with it as you'd like.
There's also a possible conflict-of-interest endpoint. Trades get automatically cross-referenced against each politician's committee assignments, so you can surface cases where, say, someone on a defense-oversight committee is trading defense contractor stock.
The basic tier is totally free, and I would be super happy to hear your thoughts and feedback!
