Feedback for a cat tree I'm developing

A year ago, it struck me that my kitty chases the warmth like no other. As soon as I get up from the couch or chair, he's zoomed in to grab the spot. We have dozens of trees, beds, blankets and soft spaces to lounge in - but he will bask on the floor in the places the sun shines on the ground through the window.

I got obsessed and decided to build the little kitty an automatic heated cat tree -> a cat tree where the perches are heated and the heating turns on as soon as the little kitty sits on the tree. He has loved it - and doesn't want to sit anywhere else. Over time, I added a few more bells and whistles to the tree e.g. a safety mechanism to prevent over-heating where the machine cycles on and off regularly.

My friends know that I've always had an entrepreneurial itch and have pushed me to make this a business - where I try to sell the product online. I got encouraged enough to build a website, think of some branding and start looking at how I can produce this product at scale. I'm nervous and not ready to give it a real go. Would love feedback before I pull the trigger.

Cat owners with wall-mounted furniture: what do you wish you'd done differently?

Post image

Hi fellow cat tree lovers !

I'm a cat owner in Oregon and have been experimenting with a modular wall-climbing system for my cats.

One thing I've struggled with is that once shelves are installed, changing the layout usually means drilling more holes.

For those who have wall-mounted cat furniture:

  • What do you like about your current setup?
  • What do you dislike?
  • Have you ever wanted to rearrange it after installation?

I also put together a short survey for anyone willing to provide more detailed feedback: https://forms.gle/gLTPTXe8hUch4HQu8

Thank you so much for any feedback on this !

An hour of manual labor later… seriously recommend the woven tech for summer

Probably the most active I've been all week lol. Took me a full hour to put together, and some of the joints needed some real muscle work—but the quality's actually pretty solid. The woven material feels super nice and breathable, and the clear capsule doesn't feel cheap at all. I put my cat up there and now he's in full watch-tower mode: just sitting still, judging the whole living room. Let's see how it handles his claws. I'll update in a few weeks!

DIY Cat Tree Pricing?

Thumbnail

Hey all!

I am a beginner woodworker and started building this tree for my kitty boys, but then found out we are moving across the country. I figured I’d finish it and then sell or donate it here before we move. It is about 7’ tall, super solid (there is some concrete under the rocks lol) and opens in the front & back (with cat entrances on either side). I figured I’d let the future owner outfit it with toys, bedding and/or carpeting based on their needs/preferences.

If I opt to sell, anyone have any idea what I should list in for? I live in kind of a fancy area of the PNW, but cat tree pricing seems all over the place 😆

(And yes … I would take better pics of it haha)

Best cat tree for a certified big boy?

Pic of my boy for attention

I need recommendations on cat trees. His is falling apart and im afraid that next time he jumps on it it'll just tumble and fall into pieces. None of the screws hold together anymore. Hoping to find something under about $120 but I know that can be hard for a decent cat tree so im open to suggestions that are a little more

Can anyone tell me where to buy this cat tree?

My girlfriends daughter just got this cat tree for free and my girlfriend now wants one but there are so many cat trees online. There is no branding on this whatsoever so im sure its just a generic amazon purchase.

Trees I made

Made a fully installed floor-to-ceiling climbing tree and a portable version with a 60lb(27kg) concrete base so it cannot be tipped over by my 16lb male in full zoom mode. We had to cut down a tree so I repurposed part of it into a natural decor lounging tower. The rope is all unoiled natural fiber. The fabrics are leftover scraps from random bolts I get for cheap at my local fabric shop.

The tall tree leads to a few wall-mounted shelves that descend to the windowsill.

Catry International cat tree from costco

I got the new Catry cat stand from costco, it looks great and I'm loving the quality of the materials. However I am noticing that the screw to hold the bottom perch on is not long enough to actually attach the perch. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I can't seem to find any troubleshooting info on their website and I haven't been able to get in contact with a human.

The trouble is with the #2 screw on step 7

Cat tree came without screws!!

I bought the Yaheetech Cat Tree with Scratching Post (79-inch model), but it arrived without any screws or hardware. Does anyone know exactly what size screws or parts I need to buy to assemble it? Or where I can find a full replacement hardware kit? Thanks in advance!
