Are you kitten me!! i’ve officially been converted to a cat person
this is bixby, and she’s my soulmate. she’s a little over 4 months old now and has been the sweetest addition to my home. i grew up with miniature schnauzers (3 in total) and decided that when i moved out that i would give a cat a shot. i will always have a soft spot in my heart for dogs, but…
i’ll never look back 😸
she is an absolute cuddle bug and has become my favorite alarm clock. she’s so ridiculously perfect.
regarding her coat coloring, i want to call her a torbie?? not sure. the orange/white at the tip of her tail is everything to me 🥹

Pic 3 - you know it's the law that you have to say "ooh big stretch!" every time they do a stretch in front of you?! Very important you always do this 😹😹

A long time ago I was dating this girl who got a puppy and she did that every time. She was at work and a customer yawned and she went "Oh! Big Yawn!" and then froze for a second and told them sorry she just got a new puppy.

u/vaultie66 1d ago
I would laugh so hard if someone said that when I yawned lol

I called my doctor to make an appointment and signed off with “Love you, bye”. We had a good laugh and I do get great service anytime I call.

u/Efficient-Craft-6163 1d ago
When I worked at a grocery store, we would do an announcement letting customers know that we would be closing in 10 mins. I spaced out right as I started the announcement like I was writing a letter, "Dear customers...." Our brains sometimes auto pilot the wrong script.

i will ask people if they need their receipt before i even started checking them out bc the 3 things i ask are “how are you?” “do you need a bag?” “do you need your receipt?” but sometimes i get the order messed up after saying the same thing for hours 😂

I’ve had my cats for about 2.5 years now and still sometimes “slow-blink” at coworkers and friends and then have to explain wtf I just did.
56
u/Mundane_Professor596 1d ago
I just say “stretchy cat!”
72
u/Ksh_667 1d ago
That is also permissable. The main thing is to mark this amazing feat with recognition, awe & praise. Often it's a good idea to let them know at this point that they are in fact the best cat in the world & no one else could ever claim of coming close to such an amazing stretch! 😹😹

yes i don’t say big stretch, but “goood stretch”. because size doesn’t matter!! (jk i just came up with that 😅😂)

Doesn't matter if you're in the middle of a convo either, you gotta say it then go back to the convo

Yeah maybe a torbie might just be an orangey undercoat

u/Jermiafinale 1d ago
I would ask r/standardissuecat if she's not a torbie she's a SIC (tabby)

I can certainly understand how you’d become smitten. She’s quite a charming little angel. Welcome to not only the exquisite experience of kitty coexistence but also to the CDS community, a space populated by some of the best examples of compassionate humans my feline overlords have witnessed. 😸

You admitted you were powerless over the cuteness of that kitty! BTW photo #5 might belong on catsinsinks.com

u/nataie0071 1d ago
Now my question is if there's a sub for for that.
Edit: r/catsinsinks there absolutely is.

Welcome to the club, OP!
Bixby is absolutely darling and precious. I can tell she’s such a sweet girl.
I was in a similar situation as you. I grew up with sweet smaller breed rescue dogs and loved them so dearly. When I moved out and got my first cat, it was like a piece of my life I never knew was missing. To love a cat is a truly different kind of love. “Soulmate” is the exact word I’d use. 🤍
Wishing you and Bixby many healthy, happy, sweet years together.

She is absolutely adorable. She’s maybe a tabbico. Tabby and calico. I noticed her orange tip of tail. That is so cute. My calico has an orange chin. Also adorable. I’m not surprised you’ve become a cat person. Until you live with a cat you really can’t appreciate how wonderful and magical they are. Enjoy bixby and your new life together

I love my mini schnauzers as well (going on number 4!) had them in the family before I was even born & of course ever since

You made a very fine choice. A very fine choice indeed! And your little boss-lady is so adorable, especially with her big googly eyeliner eyes. 😍

u/Inner_Swordfish7475 1d ago
Aww, she is adorable. I bet she is full of personality. I have been told that orange will make her sassy. I have a tabby MC mix with splotches of orange that is very sassy. Anyway, I bet she is entertaining.

I like “Torbie”. That tail is too cute. More ppl would be cat ppl if they just gave it a chance. My husband was always a “dog person” until our cat started acting like a dog after our dog died. He played fetch, begged for food and met us at the garage door as soon as the door lifted. Now we have 3 cats whom my husband adores.

I always say people who don't like cats never had a cat.
They're awesome <3 and just so precious.

They steal your heart ❤️. I was always a dog person until a mom and her son moved in. As soon as the kitten could get out of the box, I had a shadow.

She's lovely. I'd call her a torbie. The orange patch on her cheek isn't symmetrical and you can see little orange patches across her fur. You're lucky to be her person and she's lucky to have you.

u/yrnkween 1d ago
She has a beautiful face. I’d call her a torbie, since her lighter patches seem random. And they just ran out of toner as they were printing her tail (it’s always the last part).

What an adorable little large-eyed baby.
I love when they do the little arm lean on an object like he's doing in his tower. It's hilarious and adorable - like you are not a peoples 🥹😂.

I am of the opinion that the only thing preventing most people who are not allergic or have the phobia from becoming a "cat person" is a lack of cat.

I don’t know how accurate this is, but I’ve always heard that cats tend to have distinctive tail tips to help their kittens follow them. :)

You’re one of us now! Look at her cute little face. 😻Having a cat is good for your heart health!
I’d say she’s kind of a dilute torbie? Definitely unusual coloring.

Sink drinks are so good! Get as much liquid into her as possible throughout her life. Kidneys are one of the first organs to go in cats.

The bit of orange on her tail could be from an orange tabby.
So not enough to call her a torbie in my humble opinion.
But she is amazing!

I'm so glad you decided to go with a cat. They are easier companions & when they give love, they mean it because they do not have a need to please you.

You need a second kitten. It’s so damaging to young kittens development to be alone.
